Stopped by here after we went to Santa Monica, and they were able to seat our party of 6 instantly so we went with it. We were seated outside and it was very nice. The service was also very nice and friendly. You order through their tablet on the table which is pretty nice, I personally don't mind it and think it makes it easier so you don't gotta wave people down or interrupt them. Our group some mimosas / cocktails and they were delivered pretty quickly. The food came out soon after. I felt like the French toast was pretty ok, very normal, nothing special for a French toast but it was solid. This was my first shakshuka tho and it was very good, nice warm and filling. The menu was pretty Interestring with lots of American breakfast classics but then also had shakshuka and curry and Mexican dishes. Overall it was great!
Came here for an afternoon pick me up around 1pm on a Friday after walking around the promenade. It was not busy when we arrived so we were seated right away. Since my friend and I had just eaten, we just ordered a couple drinks. Upon walking up, the place had some outdoor seating and some indoor seating with a couple high chair tables inside. The vibes were very cute. Simple yet sleek. We loved the hanging plants. They have 1 all gender restroom for customers only that can only be accessed with a code via keypad. All the tables had tablets with touchscreens to see the menu with photos to order. Looking through the menu, the prices of everything seemed a bit steep but I can tell they use quality ingredients. I got a matcha latte with oat milk and my friend decided to try the sook (mugwort) latte. My matcha latte was delicious. You can taste the good quality matcha without any sweeteners. The sook latte was new to us and we were curious to see how it tasted. Our server was very kind to explain it and felt that if we liked matcha that we would enjoy the sook latte. And after tasting it, we really enjoyed it. It had a good earthy flavor with some hints of vanilla. My friend felt that she enjoyed it much more than matcha and wanted to know what brand of tea they used. The manager was kind enough to share that the mugwort tea was a blend that the house chef grew and put together themself so there was not a specific brand they used. The location is very close to the beach and the promenade so there was some transients outside walking around and parking can be tough but if you're in the area and looking for a cute cafe I'd recommend trying out this place. Also, if you do stop by, don't forget to check in for a chocolate molten cookie.
Cute little spot by the pier! The interior is clean, has lots of pothos plants, and the small space surprisingly does fit a good amount of tables. There's also outdoor seating which looked super comfy! We stopped by hoping to grab breakfast, but their food was a little expensive so we opted for just coffee & hot chocolate instead. Wait time was very minimal! Both drinks were good and the quality of the cups were great.
Had another wonderful brunch here! I love how the menu changes. I had the best shakshuka here! The beef bowl I'd pass on, but I wanted to note that the flavor of the shakshuka was so rich and delicious. The service was also quick and casual. The ocean view is stellar as always.
I recently went with my girlfriend and tried the chicken curry katsu. We both really the flavor of the curry and thought all the flavors blended together. The chicken was also crispy so that was very nice! It was a a cute restaurant and service was rather quick, but I can see how it would be awkward for a first timer going alone.
My friend and I went to Santa Monica for the day, wanted a lunch place. The restaurant is tiny with both indoor outdoor seating. Make reservations on Resy if you want a guaranteed table and time. We came on a Monday at 10:45 a.m. and all the tables were occupied shortly after we sat outside. Intrigued by the lunch menu, A little disappointed, our reservation time was still in the brunch hour. The menu is very different. Service was OK. We sat for a bit without a menu, got the attention of a women who look annoyed when I ask her for a menu. Jordy came over, service was a little better. We had to ask if they served alcohol. We ordered Bloody Mary's to start, which were delicious. Breakfast entrees ordered were the Breakfast Burrito and the Shakshuka. When the food came out it was hot. My Shakushuka was impressive and excellent. The burrito was OK, just that. I will say this place though food was good, the prices are really inflated, $19 for a burrito on a plate, that's it. Mine was $25. Was it worth a revisit at those prices? Sorry no. Atmosphere: cute and small. Service: OK. Food: good but $$$
Quick pit stop before the beach. Chill vibes, kind servers. The food was fine, though nothing exceptional. I appreciated the option to add truffle slices to the dishes. Had the sunrise breakfast. The salad was quite good, and perfectly dressed. The scrambled egg was a tad overcooked but had a nice mild savory flavor. Crispy bacon hit the spot, too.
I came to LA (and spent half a day in Santa Monica) for vacation and to visit my college friends who live in the area. We came to SM for some surfing and before we did that, we wanted to make sure we had some energy. My friend loves the MOVIE Interstellar and thought the pictures for Interstellar looked really good. We really enjoyed the food we got (see photos!). The ingredients were really fresh and I would be happy to eat here and each of the items we got again. The inside is small, and since the weather is really nice, we opted to sit outside. There were about 8 tables outside. It's really cute and we felt so bougie eating brunch here on a random weekday (also surprised there were so many people on a weekday morning - all 8 tables outside were taken). There is only one bathroom and sometimes during our visit, there were like 5 people waiting for the bathroom. The service was okay - I think she was the only one working all the tables so it was a little hard to get her attention at times. Also, the prices were a little steep. I think the overall VALUE is not quite a 5-star for me, and so between value and service, I took off a star. For people on the fence about coming, I would still recommend this place - I think the food will not disappoint!!
Parking: Plenty of Santa Monica public garage parking structures nearby. Experience: We arrived around 12:45 with a group of 6. The restaurant isn't very big, but the hostess kindly made it work by combining 3 tables on the small front patio. Food: Everything on the menu sounded good and it covered all kinds of cuisine. I got the chicken katsu sando. it was really good but kind of expensive even for LA prices - $26 for a small sandwich. If you're looking for a good option near the pier, would recommend.
Tasty molten chocolate chip cookie and matcha latte in a great location by the beach. Food prices were a little steep for a cafe, but options looked great. I was pleased with my matcha and enjoyed my cookie. The place was cute and a nice little stop for me.
So, we totally came across this place through happenstance, and I'm so glad we did. Our hotel had a power outage, so instead of having breakfast there, we decided to explore the town and stumbled upon Interstellar. The place was small, but it had a fantastic design and a vibrant atmosphere. Despite not having a reservation, we only had to wait a short while before getting seated. We found a cozy spot at a table inside. I started my meal with a matcha latte. It was unsweetened but had a great flavor. Honestly everything on the menu sounded delicious, so it was hard to choose, but I ended up going with the french toast and fruit. I'm not even a huge french toast fan, but it was absolutely incredible and loaded with fresh fruit. It was the perfect balance of carb-y and refreshing, and was sooo good. If we had been here longer I definitely would've visited again to try out more of their menu!
Had the most incredible ricotta toast here! It's a quaint little coffee shop minimal seating area with great food options. Good: - Lots of food options - Good coffee and ricotta toast was great size portion - Cozy place for catching up and a modern aesthetic - Fast service Bad: - Expensive end Overall I was a big fan of this brunch spot!

Quality/Quantity - Avocado Toast - Generous quantity. Well done. Personally I would have preferred a little less arugula. Fresh Ricotta Toast with House Jam - Jam was on the side which actually made the dish even better. We cut this into small pieces and ate it as an appetizer. Oyakodon - Over-sauced, but good flavors and good quantity. Had no left overs. Korean Galbi Bowl - Good flavors, but light on quantity. We could have eaten much more of this. Spicy Cajun Shrimp Bowl - 6 pieces of HUGE shrimp. Had to be at least size 16 or lower! Good flavors, slight kick. But again, over-sauced. Chicken Katsu Curry - Got two entrees of this; good to know our guests have the same taste, LOL. This had the most generous quantity. Dessert - Honey butter toast. Wow, you can really taste the butter in this dish. It was a hit. Glad we shared as it was a fairly good size. Atmosphere - Indoor/outdoor seating. Outdoor dog friendly. Cool modern decor, including the bathroom. Parking garages nearby, first 90 minutes free. But if you pass the 90 minutes, you are paying for the entire time! Service - Good. Except our dishes all came out as they made it. So fresh out of the kitchen, but because we have manners and waited for all the dishes to arrive before eating, the first dishes were cold by the time the last dish came out. My suggestion is to get a warming station and bring out the entire party's food at the same time. Price - Our guest paid again... This is the only person in my life that I can not out maneuver to pay!!! I do NOT think I have paid once going out with them. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2020

Came to visit some family while I was Santa Monica and saw great reviews for this place so we had to try it out! One of the cutest cafes I've come across since being in town. It's in a perfect walking distance from the pier. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and it's fenced off so you have a bit more privacy while enjoying the weather. Although it's on the small side, it has quite a few little tables, perfect for grabbing some brunch or a coffee date. Now for the food -- we ordered a couple of drip coffees, courtesy of Yelp check-in offer and it came in their cute logo cups. We tried the fish and chips which was super crispy and the fish was fresh. The Truffle Linguini aglio E olio (breakfast truffle linguine) was DELICIOUS. I highly recommend trying it out if you're here for the first time or if you are looking to try something new on the menu. So creamy with bits of bacon and truffle that blended so well together. It is on the heavier side so it will definitely fill you up. A perfect brunch dish. Will have to come back here when I'm in town again! The staff/owner were all so friendly and sweet. Honestly, the service was enough to come back. We actually couldn't stay away and did come by again for afternoon tea/coffee that same day lol I was eyeballing the lattes and had to try their orange mocha -- so rich with flavor and was the perfect cup to warm up with since it got really chilly that evening. read more
Spent a morning in Santa Monica and was genuinely surprised at how good the food is. My friends and I were just looking for a place to eat breakfast and it happened to be right by where we parked. The place is small and has some outdoor seating, much like other restaurants in the area. What makes this place stand out is the wide selection of brunch foods aside from the basic avocado toast -- food selections photographed and captioned. Only complaint might be the price, though unsurprising given the location. $22 for truffle fries is a bit steep, but would overall recommend Interstellar for a good, hearty brunch! Note: There is a bit of construction nearby so can be a little loud, at no fault to the restaurant. Would opt for an indoor table if it's available! More like Lessthanstellar. Slow lackadaisical service no smile "just what do you want?" Brought our drinks but no napkins ordered the BLTA on Japanese milk bread toasted. $25 bucks for a very small sandwich pretty outrageous. Had to ask for extra plates. Orange and maple drink was tasty It was nice to sit and watch the ocean and people walking by but a constant noise kept coming from a person phone in the corner. At first I thought it was another guests but turns out it was a worker who had eaten and was just sitting out there playing loud music and tv off her phone. Ruins the atmosphere. The lack of self awareness to not wear headphones is bothersome. read more
This place is damn near perfect. The service is great, coffee is delicious, dog friendly, and food is awesome. Highly highly recommend the breakfast truffle linguini. AMAZING!!!!!!!! I never order creamy pasta generally but it came highly recommended by the waitress who was great btw. I mean, WOW. WOW. Sooooooooo good. It's so rich but not something you get sick of eating. Runny yolk, truffle, creamy linguini, thick chunks of delicious bacon. Ugh. Croissant breakfast sandwich was pretty good too. French toast is overrated (best part was the fruit). It just tasted super bready but not much flavor and kinda dry? Galbi tacos are tasty. Bacon + waffles was spectacular!!! They use almond flour which is great for those looking for a GF option. Or even if you aren't. It was perfectly crispy, bacon was lovely, sweet whipped butter. My mouth is watering. I got it with poached eggs but saw that other people were ordering it with scrambled. I'd go with scrambled. The only drawback of this place in my mind is that both times that I got poached eggs one was perfect but the other was overdone. Also water would leak out of the overdone one. read more
We got the Super Nachos, the Moroccan Harissa Parpardelle Burrata, and the Truffle Linguini aglio E olio. The food here was so delicious, especially the Truffle Pasta! The menu had a lot of unique options and it took us so long to decide what to order. The only downside was the prices; a bowl of pasta was over $30 (as well as most of the menu)! This restaurant had a pretty casual vibe, so the prices didn't really make sense to me. I heard they increased the prices here by about 40% recently, which was disappointing to hear. I would come back here if the prices were more reasonable. read more

OMG, this place is so cute and great! If you are in the Santa Monica area, it is right by the water and the board walk and mall. The only problem you will probably have is finding parking. It seems like a family run small business. We were suprised at the portions! It was pricey but it makes sense because they give a good amount of portions to the point that each of us had to do a take out box! I had the mahi mahi tacos - SO GOOD. I would order again. My friend ordered a waffle and she said it was fluffy. My friend ordered the bulogi burger and very huge portion. And my other friend ordered the chicken sandwich, and also very big and good! We had truffle fries to share around the table. My friend ordered this orange expresso - pls order it. This was a star gem drink! We got mimosas and Sangria. All were yummy. Although expensive, I say that the portions surprised us on how big they were and each dish was very yummy. I would def come back if I was in the area! read more

Nestled just around the corner off Ocean Ave and a few blocks away from the Santa Monica Pier, is this place. I was tempted by Blue Plate Taco a few steps away but I'm glad we stopped here. Also I think Tina would've slit my throat if I had us ingest another Mexican meal on this trip. It was unassuming at first and almost hard to spot. We waited at the host stand outside and were tended to quickly. There are tables outside that provide a view of the beach "area" off in the distance. They have an impressive cocktail and caffeinated beverages section. Matcha is a must whenever it's on the menu so I ordered an iced matcha latte which was standard fare. Tina ordered a mimosa which she describes as "fine, a normal mimosa". Further review of the drink menu now reveals a strawberry mint cocktail with strawberries, mint, lime, and soju and it has been AGES since I've had soju and it's probably for the best that I didn't notice that at the time. The time of our visit was around 2-3pm so I was interested in the brunch section however breakfast, brunch, and dinner are all served all day. I was a little strapped for vegetarian options on the menu which contains really explosive shit like breakfast truffle linguini, truffle grilled cheese and marinara (not convinced that was on the menu I was given at the time because I probably would've ordered that..), katsu burgers, bulgogi burgers, korean galbi tacos, and moroccan harissa pappardelle and burrata. Mic drop. I settled on the $22 avocado toast and I'll put it this way: expectations were high. After talking a big game about how hungry she was, Tina ordered just an order of black truffle fries. Expectations were more than met with this fucking avocado toast. It was INCREDIBLE. Easily one of the best avocado toasts I have ever had. The toast is on a thick slice of bed topped with avocado mash, burrata, arugula, cucumbers, and a citrus honey vinaigrette. NEXT LEVEL. I gave half of it to Tina because it was so gigantic. And because I'm a generous person. The black truffle fries were also probably the best truffle fries I've ever had. The fries are thin and crisp and packing with delicious truffle flavor. They're topped with a hefty portion of parmesan and parsley and absolutely exquisite. This is a really special place and would be dangerous if I lived in the same time zone. read more

I work in Santa Monica. Most mornings I'm at work I come to this little spot for coffee. Sometimes a full breakfast. Laura is always there and she is really nice and personable! The owner is mostly there too. Great conversation! The coffee is always made perfectly and the atmosphere is such a great vibe to start your morning. Whether you live here or visiting! It's open early (8/8:30) so you can come relax and then get your day started! read more

Went for the 1st time to have lunch with my daughter. From the moment we arrived we felt so welcomed and taking care off. We started off with the lobster roll which was served on brioche- super delicious! Sorry no picture! I had a cappuccino and my daughter a vanilla late. We both ordered an entree as well, Shakshuka and Katsu Curry . Everything was so tasty, full of flavors. I did not expected this kind of cuisine in a touristy area. A big shout out to Angie for being such a wonderful host! It was our first visit but definitely not our last! read more
Excellent customer service, came back in person to experience the outdoor seating, under the southern Californian sun. Brought family here to enjoy some breakfast brunch hoping to see some beach. This location is conveniently located across the way from Santa Monica Pier* (very close proximity, can't really see the pier however) There is outdoor seating and indoor seating, you can choose between high top tables/high chairs or regular chair tables. The menu is quite extensive, you can find it online either google, Yelp or their website. Roughly 5 pages to go through. I would highly recommend the drip coffee, the barista here is superb. Not sure what to get for food? Just ask and they can tell you their favorites. Some items are on the spicier side, please check before ordering. They also have space themed merch, near the restroom in the back. This place provides high quality food and great service, it would've been a 5 star however the price is definitely on the pricier side for the same kind of breakfast brunch food you can get elsewhere, almost 1.5-2 the amount. Cute and cozy bistro, great for breakfast. Our server was oh-so-polite and provided terrific suggestions. My mocha latte and the Loco Moco (see menu pic) were both delicious. Loved the variety of flavors and the non-traditional breakfast appeal of the Loco Moco ... definitely worth a try! So glad we stumbled upon this place on our visit to Santa Monica. read more
I was in SM to grab brunch with a friend and had heard good things about Interstellar so I wanted to try it out. It was quite busy on a Sat morning but the wait was pretty quick - 25-35 mins. The food was decent but the prices were insane. $20 for just a breakfast burrito and it does not come even with a side. I think for similar price range, I will probably eat elsewhere next time. Me and my boyfriend found this place by coincidence. We were deciding where to eat in Santa Monica and the reviews looked nice so we thought we'd give it a try and we are so glad we did! Type of dining: we ended up doing takeout but the outdoor seating area is so cute for interstellar! Food: We ordered the truffle pasta, blta panini, and a caramel latte. In our experience, outdoor dining (especially for nicer places) can be a lot nicer than takeout simply because by the time u take the food home it gets cold and isn't that great anymore. We were so pleasantly surprised! Their truffle pasta is LOADED with truffle! If you like truffle this pasta will satisfy your truffle needs! We quickly sauteed it to reheat but it was so amazing (even cold). If it was so good as takeout we can only imagine how amazing it is freshly off the pan! The panini was also amazing! The quality of ingredients is superior and made the overall experience very pleasing! But my favorite part about interstellar is they didn't start making my coffee until we got there to pick up our order. They said that they wanted to make sure the latte was fresh and I appreciated that so much because it really sucks when you order for pick up and the latte gets cold!! Their caramel latte is to die for!! My boyfriend isn't a big coffee drinker (I'm forsure the coffee queen) but even he really liked it! Overall their service and food is amazing! Price: it definitely does run on the pricier side of things but it's for sure worth it! Their portions are great size as well. If you're on a tight budget I would recommend (if anything) trying the truffle pasta, it's a good amount for two people to be moderately full just because it's so hearty! read more
We loved our lunch at interstellar! It has a fun menu with a little bit for everyone. We had an Orange + Maple Latte, Sweet and Spicy Katsu Burger, Korean galbi bowl, and Parmesan fries. The Katsu burger was our favorite- incredible flavors, large and served on a croissant! The Galbi bowl was good but had a ton of melted cheese all mixed in, just a little too much for us! Such a cute, small restaurant with a fun menu. Definitely make a reservation since there aren't a ton of seats, but highly recommend stopping by! read more

You can never go wrong with this place. Atmosphere, food, dessert, service--everything is just on point. They have separate menus for breakfast/lunch and dinner, and all of them are fantastic! My absolute favorite is the Mentaiko pasta from the dinner menu, and the orange maple coffee is a must-try! What makes this place even better is their dog menu, so I can always take my dog with me. It's a wonderful spot for both humans and furry friends. Highly recommend! read more

We loved this little spot near the beach! The interior design is a vibe: modern, clean, creative & sophisticated just like the food. Great wine list as well. Service was very friendly, too. We ordered the popcorn chicken as a starter - very delicious, loved the presentation. And for entrees we ordered the black truffle fried rice & the branzino. The fried rice was out of this world. We could not stop talking about how good it was after every bite. Would go back just for that! The branzino was delicious but it did leave something to be desired. Felt like it was missing something but still delicious no less. We will go back for sure to try some of their other creative dishes. Prices were very fair for the quality in LA - not cheap by any means but fair for this expensive city. We ordered a bottle of wine, an appetizer and two entrees, it's was $125 total after tax and tip. Not bad for a spectacular meal by the beach for two. read more
Have been here twice now and wow, what a great spot! Both times I came within acceptable brunch hours, and was blown away by the food. Located just off Ocean in Santa Monica, it's a great place to grab a bite pre- or post-Third Street shopping. An interesting menu with Korean influence, Interstellar has not disappointed. Every item I've ordered has been full of flavor. Of note has been the shakshuka (of which I would consider myself a connoisseur of sorts), which just explodes in your mouth, especially with that jalapeño sauce drizzled over the top. The lobster roll and smoked salmon toast also loved on my taste buds. Third Street is always a great way to spend your day, so I encourage you to make a res at Interstellar to warm up for a glorious day. Parking is a-plenty in SaMo (here, I usually park in the structure off 2nd and Colorado), so you have no excuses. Check our Resy to make a reservation, or walk-in (like I did). My friends and I LOVED interstellar and it's officially one of my most favourite brunch places ever. I love that they use the Ginza Nishikawa shokupan and it was a Game Changer in their katsu sando. That bread lives in my head rent free, heck I would even pay for that bread to live in my head. Shakshuka was good ! Above an average Shakshuka (and if you've never tried one before, you should definitely try it now!) The waiter was so nice to us, accommodating, gave us a bunch of suggestions as well. At first we were sat outside, but it was quite sunny and they let us move to an indoor spot once a table cleared just before we got fully situated outside. read more

One of the best steak frites I've ever had! (Personal opinion). It was nice and tender and easy to chew! The katsu sandwich would be a solid 6/10. Just a basic katsu sandwich. The ricotta toast was a 7/10. It was a sourdough bread with a nice smooth ricotta spread and blueberry and strawberry jam. The food and service was overall exceptional. Something I appreciated was when our table was too small to fit all our food so someone combined 2 tables together so we can eat comfortably without feeling crammed. read more

Interstellar is a restaurant where being adventuresome is richly rewarded. A casual environment plus a very good view of the beach and the Pacific Ocean if you can get an outside table. read more

My boyfriend took me here on my b-day and it was amazing! This place is open for outside sitting during COVID for dine-in. They also do take-out and delivery. We ordered spaghetti aglio e olio, grilled pork bowl, garlic fries for food and rose wine and Einstock draft beer (my favorite!!!) for drinks. All the foods were very delicious. Spaghetti aglio e olio was perfectly moist and the truffle added great flavor to the spaghetti. Grilled pork bowl was very unique and I absolutely loved the harmony of all components of the bowl. The garlic fries were great appetizer/snacks for our drinks :) We got a cheesecake for dessert and it was very rich and flavorful. The service was also wonderful. The owner came to check upon us frequently and he was also very friendly. I would definitely go back here to try other foods/drinks read more

IMO this place is one of the most exciting restaurants to open in Santa Monica for a long time. They are only allowed to serve via outdoor service right now & since this place is in a foot traffic heavy lo-cal it's a bit much depending on when you go. Due to covid- I try to avoid eating somewhere with a lot of random people passing by right next to me. BUT I will definitely come back here & we will happily order takeout until they reopen for interior dining. Food is excellent, some favs were the shrimp bowl (spicy) & the garlic fries. Had the French toast as well but it wasn't great as it was pretty dry. Def want to try their waffles next time as they look great. This quaint little restaurant in Santa Monica was a quiet place to dine after a long day. The restaurant interior can only seat about 20 people and there was only one other couple seated, so service was friendly and quick. We started with a mango cocktail. While the drink was a little too sweet for my taste, the Tajin rim helped! We ordered the ganjang gaeren, a soy sauce marinated egg and the lobster roll. The egg was perfectly soft boiled, a perfect little nosh nestled on top rice with Thai chilis. I thought it would be served warm but it was served cold, including the rice. The lobster roll was just ok, a little too dry. Katsu chicken curry with egg and the Branzino Okazuke were our entrees. Boy - the portion on the Katsu is no joke. The Katsu could feed two people, curry rich and flavorful but thought it could use a few vegetables like carrots, onions or potatoes. Enjoyed the pickled red daikon. The Branzino was perfectly cooked with a crispy outer and flakey inside meat. I loved the presentation, with the rice at the bottom and nori covering it - the broth was equally as tasty too. Desert was the pink guava basque cheesecake. It was good but it hardly tasted like guava at all. I felt like there was a little bit of the guava sauce but not enough to warrant the name. I get this order often because I work near by, the fries are delicious however I've been noticing over time the amount of fries in the order is just not adding up to the dollar amount of the food and the even container they put it in. When I ordered them the first time it was filled to the top!! Taste is great but not for $8! I think because it's a heavy tourist area they can get away with this! read more

They don't accept reservations for brunch. They do turn tables over pretty quickly, but I would try to get there earlier in the morning to minimize your wait time (especially if you have a larger group).
