Exiting from the station was equally easy & safe. We grabbed some water at a good price and some crunchy snacks to keep us awake. There were some local-ish options available, which is nice to see as the small businesses can use the support. Some prices were excellent, while other a bit steep- overall, it seemed to balance out in the end.

HOWEVER, you kept the most important part of any car wash. Simonson's has a HUMAN spraying bug/tar remover on the vehicle, then uses a pressure washer to COMPLETELY PRE-WASH the entire car before it enters the automated car wash. The extra time to pre-wash each car takes only 45 seconds, and is 100% the reason I dropped my membership at Tommy's. The pre-wash by a real person means all the removable dust, dirt and bugs are washed away and don't get stuck in the rotating mops and scratch the hell out of the poor soul's car next in line. A simple rinse won't do, you need a brain and eyes and a pressure washer to clean all bugs and loose dirt from the vehicle. I loved the convenience of Tommy's carwash, but now my car is covered with micro-scratches all over from the dirty mops. You can't get away from all scratches in a "touch style" carwash, but having a pre wash attendant is how to do it, and what makes Simonson's carwash truly the next best to doing it in my driveway (which I can't do in winter!) The extra 45 seconds is well worth it. My cars paint thanks you!! The first set of rotating mops in the wash always look bright and obviously clean, not dark and full of dirt like the aforementioned competition. Only thing missing is a floor mat cleaning station and vacuums. Tommy's has that advantage. But I prefer saving my cars 3-stage paint! Thank you Simonson's, I know it's hard to pay an attendant to pre-wash, but it is 75% the reason my monthly subscription is yours and justifies the expense of your washes.

Sometimes I have concerns with this because my car is a manual and I don't like my seat moved. Neither of these were an issue. Lots of attention to detail too. Wiped my floor mats and inside of my windows. Be prepared to allow some extra time for a wash, but for $11, this was a killer value (those saying it's not must not travel to any metro areas).

Anyway, while in Bismarck, stopped off at Landers and had a great experience. It was a simple lunch - An Italian sub and a cup of soup. Tossed in chips and a salad too. Getting ahead of myself. It's in the building of a gas station. One side is the convenience store the other is Landers. Counter where your food is made to order and seating. It's not table service - walk up to the counter, order and find a seat. Your food will be brought to you. When you're done, head to register to pay the bill. It's not easy to capture how tasty my meal was with words. But as I've said a countless number of times, if our tastes align, you'll love this place. Everything from the bun, to the soup and chips. I devoured it all leaving the salad for my friend. I especially enjoyed how the sub's ingredients were evenly loaded. Had a taste of it all in every bite. Unlike other experiences where it's all lettuce or the sauce is overpowering. The chips weren't too greasy or salty and the soup was just tied everything together. Obviously I'm not a regular but I know if I lived in the area, I would be and then some. Definitely the duke. If you're in the area, it's definitely a must.

Also the hours are 10am-3pm, which are much shorter than the gas station hours (I only know because I came back the next day lol). The deli has everything made to order so it's as fresh as it gets! I ordered a half sammy and soup combo ($13.99) w/ fountain drink, as well as a salad entree because I couldn't decide what to order. They brought the food to me at the table and quickly realized that it was way too much food. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed it all. The sandwich bread had a nice chew to it and the ratio of all the ingredients were well balanced. As for the soup it was flavorful, not too salty, and just made me feel all warm inside. I really liked the micro greens in the salad as well as the slices of fresh avocado. While it's located inside a gas station, it really acts like an independent deli shop that has a good steady flow of customers. I wish we had a shop like this back home because I would definitely be a regular!
