Just across from the Cineworld, the Intermezzo is a quiet spot in the city centre, attracting a slightly older crowd- not hip, not in a rush, but usually on their way to somewhere else.
It has a warm, vibrant atmosphere, without being too noisy or brash, and the soft drinks (it was the afternoon) are on tap and not flat- as a regular drinker of coke in pubs, I regard this as an important seal of quality. Because it relies on passing trade, the staff are exceptionally friendly, and the prices are fair, given the convenient location.
It doesn't have as much of an identity as the other bars in this area, but the relative calm makes it a much needed oasis. read more
