Very comfortable to shop there. They have a few sales areas, and conventionally grown produce. Believe it or not, if you only have a few bucks but you want to stay healthy you can feed yourself quite well. They have a small vitamin/supplement area, very cramped, and someone sits there to help, but they are friendly. The store is cramped and there is always someone in the way of someone else. The atmosphere of that store is so great, it can be forgiven. It is not perfect, but you can tell they try. That makes all the difference. Returning items is not easy. Bulk organic coffee is the best price. The bulk organic olive oil is always going empty also a good deal. Bulk organic nuts and seeds. Sometimes I try shopping at other stores to see if I can get a better deal without suffering and the answer is no.

Lebanese and Turkish coffees abound as does every conceivable dried herb and spice and I couldn't help but indulge in a couple tubes of Tunisian Harissa, mounds of sundried and oil marinated tomatoes,tins of Lebanese 7 spice blends. Service is decidedly 3'rd world meaning curt and perfunctory but not rude as some reviewers claim but then again my French is minimal and Arabic non existent. Je lui ai demandé son nom parce que je trouvais qu'il méritair qu'on souligne son bon service à la clientèle. You're going to hear a lot of Slavic languages here and see lots of Cyrillic languages on some of the labels. They have whole aisles just for pickles and pickled foodstuffs, another aisle to jams and fruit preserves, a wonderful frozen foods area where you'll find frozen pierogies of various kinds of Russian pelmeni, Georgian khinkali, and Ukrainian vareniki including dessert versions like cherry vareniki (dumplings). You'll find fresh organic butter and yogurts and the meat and cold cuts counter is damn good too. Garlic sausages, lamb cutlets, cheeses, I don't know any of their names but just ask the person behind the counter and she'll either explain items to you or even give you a small sample to try right there. Their liverwurst is great. You'll find all the European brand chocolates like Milka and Rittensoort, Polish Wawel poppyseed cakes and babkas and tons of other stuff. There's also a prepared foods counter which had some good stuff. I took home a large container of real home-made borscht that even had huge chuncks of beef in it and it was perfect for a dinner on a cold evening. Of particular note are the boxes of Cliff bars and Vega products. You can buy cliff bars and vega bars at the cheapest prices you will find anywhere. They are carrying a new type of raw bar called a Roo Bar and selling them individually the same price the company sells them buy the box (you're getting a bulk rate for individual bars!). The staff are also super nice and there is always a new product to explore and enjoy :)

Food quality has always been great and they have regular rotating specials on produce and carry a significant amount of Quebec based products and goods. Some of their products are slightly higher than big name stores but the majority is comparable if not less. Surprisingly I haven't used them as a butcher yet but I always appreciate stores that don't use plastic bags (bring your own, buy one at low cost or walk out with your arms and pockets in use). Also, they carry canned Tomatillos so they know whats up.
