We didn't even look at flooring samples, but I was charged for this as well. I was even charged for the time I called to book an appointment! I wouldn't complain, IF the owner had at least discussed my issues with me. But after several months, no return calls/emails. There are plenty of other great designers in this talented city. Look for them.

A word of caution to designers / drafters whom are considering whether or not to work with this…read morefirm - drawings were contracted out to me that I have not been paid for. Upon completion of the drawings, all communication with the designer ceased and I have received no communication since. I was in communication with the designer regarding two projects. I believe that she misremembered her instructions regarding the two jobs and mixed them up. We discussed the completion of a reflected ceiling plan at length, for one job, and discussed the completion of millwork drawings for the other. When I completed the millwork drawings for the second job, she was disappointed that I had not completed a reflected ceiling plan for the project - however, we only ever discussed the completion of a reflected ceiling plan for the first job. It is extremely unfortunate that the designer did not return any of my emails, calls, or voicemails, as I believe we could have discussed this and she would have realized that this is what happened, as I did notice she would get details and information confused as times, but always corrected herself when it was pointed out to her. Please keep in mind that you may not be paid for work you complete for this designer, and may not be able to reach the designer to discuss why you have not received your payment after the fact.

We heard about Elan through a friend and ended up buying all of our furniture (couch, chair and storage ottoman) from there. Not only is everything made in Winnipeg, it's made with high quality materials and a hardwood frame. You also get to pick out your fabrics so you can custom design your furniture. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They care as much about how good something will look in your home as you do. For the price (which is extremely comparable to every major store), you get 5x the quality and style. We love Elan!

I'm an older woman with no children -- the chair has hardly been used. Unfortunately, after just over a year, flaws have come up in the upholstry. Elan/Verve Design + Workshop doesn't stand behind their product in any way. They want $1,400 to fix it. No offer of any kind of help other than to look for a cheaper upholstery shop to do repairs, but haven't heard back in 2 months. I expected so much better in quality and service. Save your money.
