During the build, I communicated mostly via email, and they always responded within 24 hours. All the trades were skilled, did quality work, and kept a clean site. I did end up over budget, but that was due to a number of structural issues that were only revealed when the walls were opened. I would definitely use this company again for any future work.

The staff were not snooty, which can happen *cough* "Kesay". I digress. The store is pretty compact and sells window treatments, furniture pieces and artwork. This store would be somehow similar to Design Manitoba but smaller in physical size. Though the items here seem to be a bit more eclectic. It's a stand alone store located on St. Mary's across from St. Vital Mall just south of the Burger King. A great plus is that they are open daily. Worth a visit if you're looking for stuff for the house.

Horrible experience... the owner measured our windows and their installers told me that the…read moremeasurements were wrong. Because of this the final installation had the blinds at awkward angles and looking overall sloppy. The installers also did significant damage to the dry wall while installing the blinds and ensured me that they were installed securely. A couple days later, the valance FELL ON ME while I was retracting the blinds, which both injured my hand and bent the valance. They then proceeded to charge me the full amount without me knowing nor my authorization nor providing me a receipt.

I liked the Calligaris (Italian) line they carry. They have two levels with the lower level being the sale items. They have a section dedicated to Hunter Douglas window treatments as well. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful with no real snobby feel. They give you the time to browse and offer up suggestions when needed. Closed Sundays.

We heard about Elan through a friend and ended up buying all of our furniture (couch, chair and storage ottoman) from there. Not only is everything made in Winnipeg, it's made with high quality materials and a hardwood frame. You also get to pick out your fabrics so you can custom design your furniture. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They care as much about how good something will look in your home as you do. For the price (which is extremely comparable to every major store), you get 5x the quality and style. We love Elan!

I'm an older woman with no children -- the chair has hardly been used. Unfortunately, after just over a year, flaws have come up in the upholstry. Elan/Verve Design + Workshop doesn't stand behind their product in any way. They want $1,400 to fix it. No offer of any kind of help other than to look for a cheaper upholstery shop to do repairs, but haven't heard back in 2 months. I expected so much better in quality and service. Save your money.
