Have been struggling with pain in my foot that is caused by an overwhelming tightening of muscles…read more Thankfully, I found Motion stretch and Rian. While at first glance the price point might appear expensive, their monthly rate for the amount of sessions is great value to me. Only after a few sessions I feel tremendously better and starting to heal so I can participate in the sports/workouts I've been missing out on with my injury. The only thing that keeps this place from being a 5* was my experience signing up for the membership. The associate wasn't entirely clear on some of the "hidden fees" and cancellation notices, but after some prying I got all of the details. Highly recommend this place and if you can take the pain, as for Rian.

They told me if I recited a tongue twister 10x that I could have a session for 25 bucks. The look on my face must have said it all. They showed me an IG post to let me know it was a real thing. I could hardly keep a straight face but I did it!!! I waited with excitement all day for my appointment. So much so that I got there 30 minutes early. Q stretched me. She was incredible. I felt her passion for helping people not even 5 minutes into our stretch. She was kind and empathetic. She asked me questions so she could customize my stretch. She was very good at communicating with me as to what she was doing and why. I asked her what drives her. She answered "I can help people without having to be a doctor." I loved every single minute of my stretch. I will be returning. And if you have any chronic pain issues I highly recommend a visit with Q at Motion Studios in Brookhaven. She is knowledgeable and very good at her job. She even sent me home with a You Tube video with exercises for my issue. She went above and beyond.

This is the one & only place that I truly believe a 5 star rating just isn't enough! Where do I…read morestart.. This may be a long one so buckle up. First and foremost, I am just your average chick in the sense that I do NOT habitually workout, count my calories, meal prep, etc. I did have a membership at LA Fitness for 3 years (2015-2017) but was really only actively using it for 1 year so I finally made the decision to cancel it. I first step foot into this box July 4, 2017 when my boyfriend invited me to come to their post-WOD ("workout of the day") BBQ. I literally only came for the food, sorry! At the time I still held a membership at LA Fitness and had absolutely NO intentions of committing to another gym; Especially not CrossFit. But of course everyone urged me to give it a try and I left that day with the mindset that CrossFit was a cult (lol). [...Fast forward to March 2018 when the 2018 Reebok CrossFit Games were going on...] My boyfriend asked me to come to the box with him every Friday this month to record his WODs and so I did. On the last week of March, he spontaneously bought me a Groupon for their Fundamentals class ($32) and the rest was history... I've never found a fitness program that I enjoyed until I started CrossFit. Reasons why I love this program (and why it works for me): *Your WOD is created for you & released on their app (Wodify) 8PM the night before so you never have to pre-plan before coming. Plus, they're typically only 15-30mins long but it'll get your HR way up there bc of its style of HIIT. *You always work out in groups/classes which is motivating when you feel like stopping mid-workout but everyone around you is still going strong. Everyone is also so welcoming & full of encouragement! *If there is an exercise that you are unable to do, there is always a scaled version of it or some type of exercise you can do to work on those targeted muscles. *There is always a coach present to stretch you out as a group, ensure everyone warms up properly, & guide you throughout the WOD/correct your form if necessary. *They have a great sound system & nothing is better during a workout than music drowning out the sound of your pain. More about the Groupon Deal: Fundamental classes start at the beginning of every month. Classes are MWT @ 7:30PM for the first 4 weeks. You will then graduate to the intermediate class which you will be allowed to attend for the following 2 weeks and decide if you would like to purchase a membership. You get a cool swag bag for joining which includes free monthly body composition analysis at Max Nutrition. More about CrossFit Valitus: Classes are offered 6 days/week (Monday-Saturday) with M-F at 6AM, 7AM, 12PM, 4:30PM, 5:30PM, and 6:30PM and Saturday at 9AM or 10AM. Some Saturdays are partner workouts to which you're more than welcome to bring a friend/family member as long as they're familiar with the WOD's exercises. They're also open on Sundays at 12PM as an open gym so you can come and work on any exercise that needs improvement. Oh, did I mention you get access to Dynamo's Swim Club!? Lastly, there are currently 4 coaches and every single one of them is awesome in their own way. *Crystal--The owner and awesome fundamentals instructor *Art--The head coach who's great at making sure you're stretched out for you WOD and trains our triathlon team *Rene--Beast crossfitter who also holds flexibility and strength training classes a few times a week *Isa--Best WOD DJ and motivator since she Rx's just about every workout (sometimes 2-3x/day!) Whew, that was a long one but I warned you! I know CrossFit may seem intimidating and even scary to the average person but don't knock it till you try it. It's only been a little over 2 months for me and I've already seen changes within my body and PR'd more exercises than I could even count. I'll end off with this quote: "A year from now you will wish you had started today"

Staff was friendly and welcoming when I arrived. I never got a chance to use the locker rooms, but all other areas were clean. They do need more sit up benches (for crunches). I would not have had an issue with this if it were applied consistently. However, while this was happening, I observed multiple other members walking in without being stopped or asked for identification. What stood out to me was that I appeared to be the only Black member in the gym at the time, which made the situation feel particularly concerning and unfair. I understand the need for security and verification, but policies should be applied equally to everyone. Being singled out in this way made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I have already raised this issue with corporate and hope the gym takes a closer look at how policies are enforced to ensure all members are treated fairly.

I've been a CFC member for a little bit over a year - and absolutely love it!…read more Who should consider this gym: I think there is a range of fitness levels at this gym and a good mix of men and women, but think it is mostly focused on people who are just starting out Crossfit and don't want to feel intimidated, business people who are busy and need weekends / odd times to go to the gym (early am or late night), and people who aren't as focused on developing this as a competitive sport. Having said this, there are definitely a few ppl that are competition ready too, but if that is not for you there is no pressure. It's all abt having fun and being healthy. I guess what I am saying is that this is a more laid back gym than other Crossfit gyms. For me - the above is a good fit, but it is not for everyone. Why I love it: I LOVE the people. I love the community. I feel safe. I don't feel judged. I feel heard. This is a very welcoming gym, so we always have drop ins and people who hear abt it through word of mouth. Saturday's there is one WOD (workout of the day) so is a good opportunity for a lot of people to catch up and connect. There are lots of social activities we do together, planned and sporadic. Recently we've done Trivia nights / happy hour, hiking Stone Mtn and laser show watching, brunch etc. Programming: I have found the programming has changed over the last few months, for the better I think. They are tough, but can be scaled accordingly per each person's individual level. "Typically" we spend the first part of the workout working on a strength or skill, and the second part hyperventaliting to some timed exercise and praying to dear God that time moves quickly and or/ that we don't pass out, followed by laying in the fetal position on the floor until you can move again (Or is that just me???) CFC has also started to do Skills classes to work on tougher Olympic movements. The whole hour is focused on learning the basics and moving up into the tougher combined movements. Regardless of experience these are always very helpful. It seems like there is one every month on average. We also just kicked off an optional Fitness Challenge where over 30 ppl signed up and are sharing goals weekly to keep each other accountable. Logistics: There are classes from 6am to 7:30 pm with the busiest usually being at 5:30 pm (weekdays). There is usually 1 Sat class at 10am and 3 Sunday gym openings with 2 classes in the am and open gym in the afternoon. Check the website before coming to make sure there aren't changes - as they do observe some holidays. On average there are abt 6-8 people per class - though it varies widely. With some having ~15, and some having 2. There are a few Saturday's which have special events and we've had over 30 ppl turn out. But that isn't the norm. Feedback Steve is the owner and I have generally found him to be very open to feedback. Over the summer I personally approached him on a few points and he quickly addressed them. I think that is the beauty of this gym. You get to be a part of the community and help this be an even better place than it already is. Decisions: Ultimately - I would recommend you visit a few places to decide where is the right fit for you. We look forward to welcoming you to our gym if you decide to try it out or stop in!
