This place is bookstore/coffeehouse/restaurant/bar in the cute little town of Roslyn…read more I wandered in around 4:30pm. I checked out the bookstore part first. They have a cool selection of books, and a lot of gift type things like tea, stuffed animals, bookmarks, art supplies, etc. I noticed the dinner menu and decided a cheeseburger sounded good. I ordered the Basecamp cheeseburger with bacon and a side salad. You can apparently order food upstairs and then sit upstairs or downstairs (or outside, I think). They have table service as well, after 4pm. Service was very friendly and patient. I decided to eat downstairs, and there was a cozy bar and large seating area. My burger soon arrived and it was delicious! A great toasted bun and a wonderfully substantial and beefy patty. The cheese was rich and gooey. Great, yummy combination of flavors. The salad was good too, with a nice ranch dressing on the side. A cool place that made me feel welcome and served up a great burger.

I got lavender latte and asked for not too sweet, they were able to make it a hint of lavender and the coffee smells so good. They paired perfectly together!!! I got a book from them and the whole place just smells like book store and coffee shop. Literally perfect!!! I am so grateful that one of the staff recommended me some places for photos!! She mentioned some of the art wall and cute spot behind the shop. I would definitely go back if I am in the area again.

Super cool place to check out some amazing games and things out of the ordinary please the service was great very friendly staff and the selection was incredible. The value for your buck is great! I have had them do this in the past and gave them my info. They called me back later the same day to say that they had a 'like new' used version of the game in stock, and said I could pick it up today. I said sure and dropped in later the same dayw. The used game as 90% of the price of the new - and I found it new online for the same price - but again, I want to support local, so I went ahead and purchased it. When I got home and opened the used game was not the same as a new game. It was an older version of it, without the updated ruleset, without changes to the board and pieces. It was significantly different and less refined. We recently visited some friends and played the newer version of the game, the version that inspired us to purchase the game, the version I thought I was buying. IT was so much better than the version I was sold. I was a local, loyal customer. I could have bought the game online for the same price. I chose them, and they let me down.

Still, it's a fantastic shop to find small toys, gifts and stocking stuffers for the littles. Everything from books and games, puzzles, stuffed animals, blocks and bricks, rubber figurines, finger puppets, fidgets, dice, gag gifts and, yes, true to its name, lots of wooden toys in various forms and functions. Need a rubber band gun, or a prop plane powered by a similar elastic engine? This is your place. As someone who has recently become a father for the first time (and maybe this is the curmudgeon in me talking), but toys that provide hands-on, analog stimulation are far more enriching and engaging that the endless, mindless crap spit out by the algorithms behind YouTube and TikTok. The Wood Shop is the kind of store that specializes in the types of toys that were popular before smartphones became the ubiquitous child distraction devices that they are today. On that point alone, I'm glad it's here, and (seemingly) thriving.

Chelan Toys & Sweets is the second place in Downtown Chelan that serves hard scoop ice cream, with the other being the ice cream parlor located in The Landing. Both of these places are within short walking distance of each other on E Woodin Ave, on opposite sides of the street. The prices at Chelan Toys & Sweets (see photo) are lower than those at The Landing, and they also make floats, flurries, shakes and dirty sodas. While the ice cream at The Landing had more of a gourmet or homemade flavor, the ice cream here was still good enough for our party, especially when it came down to the kids' tastes. Comparing our separate visits to these two establishments, we spent about $30 at The Landing and $20 at Chelan Toys & Sweets for similar orders/quantities of ice cream. Also worth mentioning: the wait lines are much shorter here than at The Landing (probably because tourists see The Landing when they first come into town, and not this place). The staff who served us was very cordial and shared their opinions on the store's most popular dirty soda (when asked), as well as let us sample a few of the cream flavors (they had 24) in advance. Bringing up The Parlor as a comparison one more time, although their ice cream was good, it came at a higher cost combined with longer lines and impersonal, "assembly line" service (with no samples). In contrast, the ice cream counter at Chelan Toys & Sweets had more menu items/options, lower prices, and a personal, "local" (not touristy) atmosphere.

If I could give the zero stars, that is where my rating would be. The owner is rude and arrogant…read more He really likes to make his problems everyone else's problem it seems. I've had multiple less than pleasant encounters that I have tried to brush off because there isn't many alternatives in the valley. He has trying to tell me a $60 item was $80, I'm assuming in hopes that I hadn't already looked at the sticker that he put on the box saying $60? Then when I pointed out that the sticker said it was $60, he decided to go on an unprovoked rant and guilt me for buying it because the distributor is hard to work with. I don't work for Bandai, I'm sorry? I also messaged the store Facebook page on a Monday to ask if they would take a trade and he told me that they are closed on Mondays and I should respect that and not message him... Like he is somehow forced to work and couldn't have just checked it the next day? The message wasn't from James Bond, it did not expire after opening and could have been responded to any of the seven days that week. It's not the customer's fault if you don't know how to take a day off? The store is clean but the inventory is very limited and rarely changes. Can't say I recommend stopping by because you'll spend longer walking inside from your car then it takes you to peruse their two shelves. One of which is just filled to the brim with basic Funkos so if that's not your thing... 1 and 1/2 shelves. I support small businesses but not bad business owners. If you were up for a short trip to Leavenworth, I would recommend Krampus Kave which is everything the time capsule wants to be with a much better inventory and more inviting atmosphere. If that's too far, this is the one time I would truly say Amazon is the better option in every way which is really sad because I do not say support Jeff Bezos lightly
