Our 17 year old son loves running cross country and his team won the State Championship. He was at me to get some strength work in and in his words that was dead lift and squats. I found Timur at the end of my marathon training but wish I had his coaching from the beginning. He was recommended to me 6 weeks before the Paris marathon. I was overtrained, disenchanted, and my injuries were settling into chronic conditions. We only had half the time he dedicates to a standard coaching schedule. Wow... Just wow. At 1st I was hesitant as because of the price. That changed fast. After the 1st lesson I realized that if I were some how able to monetize the benefits of Timur coaching it would be astronomically greater than the price. Absolutely not what I expected. When I was asked by my friend if I wanted to hire a running coach I naively expected that I would be spending my time with Timur running. Well we did that but also so much more. Timur had us going through a whole gamut of techniques. I learnt that mind as well as body were important and that even seemingly small changes had big effects in my running as well as in my life. With Timur each session was a surprise. For some we talked in a cafe, others we meditated at sunrise on lake merritt others we stretched. I honestly do not even really know how to put it into words what Timur does. I am not a runner, but I met Timur and he explained that his work is actually great for any athlete. I am a swimmer. I also have had some traumatic body stuff. He told me he could help with my movement in general. Timur has some pretty subtle yet powerful tools in his toolbox. He has a background in psychology, was a competitive runner (he won the US Half Marathon in 2011 and the 2012 LA Marathon open division), studied movement under a martial art master and has a TON of abstract body working techniques that he incorporates in the way he works with his clients. Can't say enough about Intensional Running!! I'm pretty active and have run into a few minor injuries here and there and Timur was unbelievably thorough and attentive to my needs. His knowledge about the body is unlike any healer I've encountered, and the pairing with energy work alongside is SO important. Runnerspeaks' coaching was very effective for improving the speed and ease of my running. I've been running for almost 20 years, but never was on a team or had formal training. Recently, I decided to focus on increasing my speed. After a half-marathon where I didn't meet my goal, I decided to try a few coaching sessions with Timur. The techniques he gave me were frustrating at first, trying to change my stride from what seemed to be working for so long. But after 1-2 weeks I was matching my previous course records and with less effort. Only a month after our first session, I ran a fantastic half marathon, shaving 2 minutes off my previous record and felt great doing it. I trained with Timur and a group for a half marathon. Timur developed personalized training plans, set the training schedule and meeting locations. I've been taking private lessons with Timur for a couple of months now, and I'm so impressed with his level of skill in integrating internal martial arts into every day movements and running! I was referred to Timur by my chiropractor to help improve my running skills. I was introduced to Timur first as a therapist - then I found out that he was integrating running and body awareness together. I thought - this is exactly what people need. For so many years I would be dedicated, mentally, to my exercise goals. But when it came down to it, I wouldn't keep to my regimen. After many years of running marathons, the miles were starting to take a toll on my body and running just didn't feel good anymore. Specifically a flare up of Plantars Fasciitis was happening on my right foot. I had seen pictures of the work Timur has done with people with bunions and knowing that he had been a professional marathoner made him the right choice to help me reignite my love of running. Timur addressed the muscular imbalances that were causing the PF and gave me exercises to help correct them. During our sessions he worked gently to correct the PF and within a few sessions it had completely disappeared. What was extremely helpful were the prescriptive stretches that he taught me to keep the PF from reoccurring. I've just started a new training cycle and am grateful for the work I've done with Timur as I know that I can now approach running with much more joy and fewer injuries. read more
