My PC, which I built a few years ago, was powering on but not displaying anything on the monitor. I decided to save time by taking it to a professional instead of troubleshooting it myself. Similar to how I might change my own oil but often leave it to a professional for convenience, I expected a straightforward experience. Initially, the tech seemed to fix the issue within a few hours. He moved the GPU to a different slot and switched from HDMI to DP--an easy fix requiring no parts. Unfortunately, the interactions I had with the tech by text and phone left me with little confidence in his ability, and I ultimately decided to finish the repairs myself. When I called to ask about diagnosis costs, I was told it could cost up to $250, depending on the complexity. However, I was promptly billed the full $250 as soon as the computer was picked up--before any work had even been done. This felt unusual and concerning, as I typically expect to be billed after the diagnosis or repair work is completed. One major issue was the tech's recommendation to replace my CPU heatsink, which has no moving parts and was in perfect condition. His justification was that "missing clips" would make mounting new fans impossible, and that a new heatsink would include the necessary clips. But buying replacement clips costs just $4 on Amazon--or free from the manufacturer if I provided proof of purchase for new fans. Suggesting I spend $130 on a new heatsink instead of offering a much cheaper and simpler solution is unacceptable. When the PC was returned, the heatsink was in a grocery bag, which he claimed was for my "convenience." This actually made reassembly more inconvenient, as I then had to reinstall it myself. He offered to put it back, but he didn't have thermal paste on hand--a critical component. Installing a heatsink without thermal paste could destroy the CPU. If I hadn't known better, I might have let him do it, which would have caused irreparable damage. The tech also claimed to have worked on the PC for three days, but text messages show the main issue was resolved within hours. Beyond that, he unnecessarily removed parts, suggested replacing components that didn't need it, and generally made the situation more complicated than it needed to be. After this experience, I simply don't trust this company. While pick-up and delivery were convenient, the overall service left me disappointed.

I've always been a PC user and recently decided to join this century and purchased a MacBook Air (which I LOOOOOVE, incidentally). I had it just about three weeks before it had a major accident...a rendered unusable sort of accident that I can hardly speak of without getting mad all over again. I thought it was not salvageable. I ran to the Apple Store in tears asking for guidance, and oh how they steered me wrong. They recommended a place called Kroll Ontrak way down I66. I drove out there with my machine and left it with them for three days to "analyze it," for which they charged me $65. They called me back once it had been brought back from "the clean room," whatever that is, and told me that they had taken the liberty of beginning the downloading process. I thought that was all really considerate until they gave me the quote for this service. And I choked on it. It wasn't much really; they only wanted my mercedes and my first born child. And there was no room for negotiation. None. So I took back my computer, paid them for their so called analysis, and was on my merry way. I turned to Yelp and found MACS in Alexandria---what a stroke of luck that turned out to be! I called and spoke to Will (the owner). I told him about the fate that had befallen my beloved MacBook Air and his response was, "no problem, bring it in." He was able to salvage everything: years and years worth of files, some new software I had purchased and coincidentally lost the disks for, all my emails, bookmarks and photos! On top of all that, he was able to then file it all away properly on my new MacBook Air. There were no "clean rooms" and there weren't any sort of mysterious processes like Kroll Ontrak had described to me. The best part was that he didn't want my car or my kid, just $125. SO, so reasonable. Later that day I had logged in to my new computer and remembered a question I had meant to ask him about something else unrelated. I called and he offered to fix it for me by logging into my computer remotely using TeamViewer (my old company used to use that software so I was comfortable with this--I know how it works). Talk about customer service! It wasn't even related to the original problem, it was just a question about a functionality on my computer. He just whizzed right around on it and fixed it with no effort. He also pointed out a great mac tutorial site to me so I could learn how to use my computer more effectively. SO NICE! I will not hesitate to use Mid Atlantic Computer Solutions again in the future. They are GREAT!!!

Both times they told me the price before working on it and it was completely fair for the services rendered. I say that as someone with some experience in repair rates - the price is reflective of a repair technician with over twenty years' experience, and not an over-charge. Best Buy is going to give you the customer service a national chain provides - none. Other smaller shops handle primarily tablets and phones, sometimes laptops. This shop is going to fix your computer, laptop or Apple product to the highest standard.

Called in advance to ask about how I needed to prepare my computer for servicing and took appropriate steps. Typed up and printed out my contact information should the technician need to ask any questions along the way along with explicit services I needed done: (1) annoying malware removal (2) hard drive memory reallocation. Neither was done. To be clear, the malware was pretty minor - limited to Chrome web browser - I just didn't have the time to hunt down the source myself. Also, the company lists "PC & Mac Virus Removal-Data Recovery-Repair Service" AS PART OF THEIR TAGLINE (google: "computerplus georgetown dc") but couldn't remove even a minor browser malware. The sad part was when I came to pick up my laptop, the person at the register just took my money without blinking an eye and no attempt was made to rectify or refund the $200 I donated to their business. At least a "sorry, we couldn't fix your machine" and I would've respected their integrity - but I have little evidence of that from my own personal experience. My advice, is that if they quote you anything above $125 dollars and there is nothing critical on your machine you need to retrieve, you should seriously consider just buying an old refurbished or desktop computer for $200-300 instead and starting fresh. That is ultimately the path I took. Computers these days are pretty cheap as long as you're open-minded to the brand, device, and model.

I wrote a review 3 weeks ago and I dont know how to edit or remove it, but my laptop does not work. Now I have money that isn't a problem, but good quality service is hard to find. I called tecky multiple times telling them my laptop was working for a few minutes and then died completely. I've used 2 different new chargers and it still doesn't work. They want to Charge me again, I already paid $200 for what they said was just plugging it in and it worked for them. When I first called back they didn't try to come and look at the laptop again. And today when I called they basically said it was my fault and hung up on me. They hung up on me. I gave them a chance, wasted $200 dollars and now they want me to pay more for the same problem. For my most recent repair, they picked up my macbook from my home, replaced the battery, and delivered it back to me in, no exaggeration, 2 hours start to finish. (I didn't pay any extra rush charge or even say I was in a hurry or anything.) I don't think I've had a repair anywhere else that was faster than like 2-3 days before I got the computer back. Another time I asked about a very specialized problem that they don't deal with, and they were totally upfront about not doing it and directed me to someone who could help. Also a great sign. And both repairs are still working great, so good quality as well. I'm going to be sticking with Techy for any future repairs!

I was warmly greeted by the manager and he asked me what I was interested in. After discussing what I mainly use my computer for, he recommended a Dell Intel 5 (which is what I was interested in). Although he didn't have one in the store, he ordered it for me and it arrived the next morning. I was asked to bring in my existing desktop to do the data transfer at lunchtime. Around 3:00 pm they called and said it was ready for pickup. I went in and was warmly greeted by Jon, the service manager. He showed me the display changes between the Windows 11 display vice my previous Windows display. He was very detailed and answered all of my questions. The total cost was very reasonable. I plan to use TCS Computer for my future computer needs.

Took my laptop to TCS to repair the cracked screen (still functional, just couldn't see part of the…read morescreen), and they said they could fix it. After a few weeks, I called and they said my computer was now not turning on. I frequently had to call them to get updates on my laptop, and after months of no improvements, I asked for my laptop back to take it to another repair place. They returned it with no screen, the wrong screws in the base, and tried to hand me two different chargers before finding mine. My computer was unrepairable in that state, so I lost a $1,000+ computer from a cracked screen. I would have appreciated an honest approach by saying that they could not help fix it, but instead my computer was broken. They waived the service fee, which I appreciated, but this was trivial compared to the price of a new laptop. Edit: I have now included two photos of the card given to me in regard to the repair.
