Disclaimer: I also shared this review on Google because I'm too lazy to write a completely new one. My trusty laptop of 7 years was starting to die on me, and I desperately needed it to be repaired ASAP. IQ Services reached out so fast after I had put out a request on Yelp, and they even picked it up from me! Marcus was a gem and helped send over some files that I wasn't able to back up before handing him my laptop. He definitely went above and beyond. He was extremely responsive, and I got my laptop back and sheeee isss looking cutee!!! It's like I have a brand-new laptop. To be transparent with costs and services: I paid for a diagnosis ($99), a new battery ($52), and repairs/replacements for my keyboard, webcam, computer screen, and whatever else was messed up ($399). Even though it seemed like a lot, it really is not when you think about the context. --I got to keep my 7-year-old computer that I LOVE, and now it feels brand new. A new laptop with the exact same processor/ram would've killed my bank account. I also live in NYC usually, and I KNOW this would've been WAY more. --I know NOTHING about fixing computers. While I can do YouTube searches to do minor software troubleshoots, I don't even know how to open up a laptop to see what's inside. --They're professionals who have gained years of knowledge, education, and experience to be able to do this. It might seem like a couple of days of work, but it's years of time and money put into learning this craft. --I didn't have to leave my home. There was no driving to a store or finding time to pick it up. It's like DoorDash but with your computer. --They're family-owned, Black-owned, and veteran-owned. Stop giving Apple or whatever corporation your money!! Shop small and shop local. Invest in your community. One super minor thing that ALL computer repair services should do: I do wish they had loaner laptops or something available because I had to scramble to find a laptop to use in the meantime. read more

Super friendly, very helpful, and very good price! My laptop wouldn't even start due to a faulty drive which IQ was able to replace after only a few days. Highly recommended! read more

Called them on Wednesday, made an appointment for Thursday. Marcus came by and picked up the laptop. Friday he came by and returned it. Is that fast or what! Highly recommend calling them. Great service is hard to come by these days. Quick turn around at a fair price. read more

Excellent service with fair price. They fixed my laptop in 2 days. I ran into some issues shutting down my computer the day after. They immediately reached out to check. 100% would recommend. read more

I had issues with slow performance and had a virus I tried removing myself. It seemed the virus was removed but it kept coming back right after I removed it so I took my computer to get looked at. Marcus was able to get the virus permanently removed and hooked me up with a great price for virus removal software. read more

After a Microsoft automatic update corrupted my Windows 10 virtual machine (running on my Mac), I tried a bunch of self-help solutions I found searching online forums and got nowhere after nearly a week. I was panicking and at a loss for where to turn for local IT support for my small business since very few IT support folks are familiar with Macs and virtual machines. After some online research, I discovered IQ Computer Services and reached out via their website. I received a prompt response and after confirming that they were able to support my particular issue, I scheduled an appointment for remote support. I was thrilled with the response time, the level of expertise, and the ability to communicate with me in a patient and jargon-free manner throughout the remote session. They also checked up on me several times during the following week to make sure that everything was running again as it should. Excellent customer service! read more

Marcus and IQ has always come to my rescue especially at a moment's notice. I have worked with Marcus for the past decade and he has always taken the time to explain the problem/solution and get my computer back to be promptly. Although the company has moved a little farther away from Alexandria, that will not deter me from continuing to use his services. The people I have referred to him have also been very content with his work and prices. read more

Walked-in for a minor issue with my keyboard on my Macbook Pro and got it back in two days. I was happy with the repair and have found no issues with my machine, but what's holding me back from a 5-stat review was that I was told the total cost would be much less than what I was originally told. Would have appreciated a high-ball instead of a low one but I will be going back to Marcus for my future computer repair needs. read more

Marcus and IQ Computer Services are awesome. I had pulled my power cord and whatever it's connected to on the inside, completely out by accidentally tripping on it. I brought my laptop in last minute at the end of the day and they were able to quickly take care of it and have it back to me the next day. I will be using them for all my computer needs! read more

Fixed my computer's performance problem by "scrubbing" its contents, removing everything I had on the PC. Deep into this process, I was asked, "Did you need to save any files on the computer? They're all being deleted." I said, "Yes, I need some of the files. Is there any way to save some of them?" I was told, "Nope. Everything's now beyond saving." Photos, tax records, magazine articles I'd written, research, many years of labor....all gone, gone, gone forever. At the end, I was asked to sign a work order. I figured the damage was already done, and nothing would at this point retrieve what I'd lost. So I put my signature on it. Reading it later, the fine print at the end of the work order / contract says, "NO REFUNDS.....I am responsible for backing up my data prior to service." No mention was made of this, prior to the "repairs." read more

I contacted Marcus when the fan in my laptop started to fail. He quickly got the part for me and was able to fix it in less than 24 hours once he got the part. He was easy to get in contact with and paying for service was very convenient. Don't let the fact that he works from home deter you from his services because he was extremely helpful and didn't charge a fortune. read more

I was in a major bind because my laptop unexpectedly crashed. Marcus had me up and running again in a few days for a reasonable price and with courteous service. He clearly explained the issue, what he would do to fix it, how much it would cost, and there were no surprises. My laptop has an even better hard drive now, and it works better than ever! read more

Marcus and Nick came to my home and examined my laptop in a courteous and efficient manner. Moreover, I mentioned difficulty with installing a new printer and Marcus installed it and tested its fax functioning within just a few minutes. While the printer installation did cost an additional fee, the unscheduled task was taken on without any hesitation. Noticing their apparrent expertise, I asked several questions about my other devices and the answered all of my questions! Finally, the repair part came in a couple of days later and Nick came out and promptly installed it. Before leaving, he showed and assured me that it was working. My computer works and I hope it continues to work. So for now, consider me a: --Very Satisfied Customer! read more

Great experience working with Marcus and Nick. They ran a diagnostic on my laptop and in less than 24 hours, I received an update from them. Fast. Efficient. Reliable. Don't be swayed by their residential establishment! read more

Great, quick service. Very professional. My (rather old) laptop had given out, and I thought I'd just need to buy a new one. I was hoping to get some files off of the hard drive though, in order not to lose everything. Marcus was able not only to save my files but also fixed my computer and got it back in perfect working order! read more

Great services. Quickly repaired my broken laptop screen over a weekend for a low price and did not charge extra for fixing a start up problem my laptop was having. Gives great advice on all things computer related. Would definitely go to this company again for any needed computer repairs. read more

I thought I was hacked but was not, but was able to have the laptop back within 24 hours and it was all cleaned and working a little faster. The laptop is old as dirt so they did what they could. I was told with the service it would include an anti virus protection, However I was expecting the free anti virus to be downloaded before I got it back. Marcus communicated to the level I expected and answers his phone immediately. That is very important customer service. I would highly suggest a little more professionalism with the other co worker. She was clueless on everything when I came to pick it up. read more

Marcus performed some clean up and recovery services on my Note 3 around April of 2015. Although he was unsuccessful at the recovery of my data I felt he did all that he could do while explaining what was going on. He also installed Titanium Back up Pro edition on my cell phone which I highly recommend. Marcus was patient, kind, and competent. He did not rush and listened to all of my concerns and I felt that his prices were reasonable. Don't let the advertising emphasis on fixing computers fool you: I highly would recommend Marcus and IQ Computer Services for any kind of Android repair or related services. read more

Had a terrific experience, my power jack became damaged and had to be replaced. He quickly identified the problem, ordered the part and had the laptop back to me before anticipated. Laptop working great! Also fixed access to a USB port without additional charge. Don't be intimidated by his company working out of his home - they are very professional and his prices reflect the lack of overhead expenses. read more

Marcus replaced the fan on my HP laptop within 1.5hrs (I had the part). He was very professional, easy to contact, and really put me at ease. He kept to his quote (no hidden fees or attempts to upsell), made sure my BIOS were updated and provided some other great advice on keeping my laptop running well. Prices was reasonable/in-line with other companies that had provided me quotes. I grabbed a bunch of his cards and will recommend to anyone needing repairs/help with their computer. Happy to have found him! read more

I have always felt that Best Buy's computer repair services are way overpriced, so I searched for a local alternative in the DC area and found Marcus. He is clearly very knowledgeable, offers reasonable prices, and he is extremely quick. My computer was so slow that it was barely functioning. I thought I had a virus, but it turned out that the hard drive was dying. I dropped off my computer at Marcus' home business at 5 pm on Sunday, and by Monday afternoon, he had replaced the hard drive, installed a new operating system, added popular programs like Skype, Adobe, iTunes, etc., and copied all of my data onto the new hard drive. I was impressed with the unbelievably fast service and with Marcus in general. He's very nice and took the time to answer all of my questions and explain everything. He has answered every call and has responded to my emails immediately. Also, I didn't feel like he nickle-and-dimed me, which is surely what would have happened at Best Buy. In addition, it feels much better to support a successful small business. So far, the computer is working great, and I would definitely send all of my friends and family to him. If you're the kind of person (like me) who generally feels more comfortable going to a storefront, you should not let that stop you. Marcus works from home, but he is extremely professional, wore a polo displaying his business' name, printed a receipt for me, and was very welcoming. When he let me pick up my laptop just after business hours, I even got to meet his 2-year-old son, who is absolutely adorable. read more
