I can't say that I would recommend the business. The man who came out was unable to access any of the 3 door locks he tried and frankly he looked baffled. Thankfully he had a "business call" during the visit otherwise I might have thought it was a scam! Maybe it was just bad luck but they are pretty standard door locks and I know for a fact that all the houses in the neighborhood have the same ones because it's all the same builder, so they're not rare. I called up this locksmith service and Phil gave me a quote to replace an old lock set (knob lock and dead bolt) that I thought was a high quote but I agreed to it. He came over that day (1-15-2026) and installed the new locks. When he was done, he handed my a key so I could test the locks to see if they worked. I immediately smelled a strong odor. The key was wet with the lubricant he used and got all over my fingers. I quickly tried to test the locks. The locks did work but I complained about the strong smell. He said, "Don't worry the smell will be gone in a few days." He used a lubricant called LPS#1 which I researched on google and google said it was a lightly oiled petroleum-based lubricant that does emit VOCs (volatile organic compounds). After he left, the strong smell from the LPS#1lubricant was all over my house. I have bad dry eyes and my eyes were stinging. The clothes I had on stunk from the vapors and so did my couch and bed. I tried washing my clothes so now my washer smells. I called him and asked him to come out and replace the locks with new ones without using the LPS#1 lubricant and he refused. It's been 4 days now and my house still smells but not as much as the first 3 days. I threw away some of my clothes and might have to get rid of my couch. I wish I never would have called this locksmith business. read more
