The process discovered…read more660 cfm of air leakage in our supply ductwork in our newly constructed home when pressurized at 25 pascals. This leakage was into the floor joists and into the attic vs. being circulated into the living area of our home. Since our rim joists are not sealed and neither is the attic, this leaked air most likely found its way outdoors. After the seal, this leakage was reduced to only 40 cfm! Mark also provided an audit of our HVAC airflow from our registers. After the seal was completed, the airflow at the registers during normal system operation had increased by 1,009 cfm. That was a real shock, representing more than 1/3 increase of our total HVAC air circulation! This will certainly have a positive impact on our utility bills and the comfort of our home. The team who performed the Aeroseal service were professional and it was obvious they had performed this many times (not their first rodeo!). They cleaned up after themselves in the mechanical room and taped the remaining exposed ductwork as an added measure of sealing. Very satisfied with the work and even more satisfied with the results the seal provided. Would never have imagined that a new home would have needed this until we experienced our high electric bills last summer and started looking for the cause.

The young tech said I was low on freon by at least three pounds $175/pound to replace. He concluded by saying the unit that was sold to me 7-8 years ago was old and bad and would need to be replaced. Collecting $69 and leaving the house so we could decide how to proceed. Thankfully a friend urged me to get a second opinion with Richie. Richie came out to my house in later that day. His inspection? Well the unit was just a little low in refrigerant. The unit was fine. He took approximately 45 minutes to clean the unit outside as it was moderately dirty and hadn't been cleaned in over a year. He said the unit was fine. He wanted to see how the unit it performed (it's doing great!), he would be back in a couple of days to reevaluate and top off the refrigerant. He said if anything he could make any needed repairs and most likely there is still a manufacturers warranty still in place which he could find by running the serial number. Richie was a blessing!

We are renovating our 120-year-old home in KC and Mark from Green Factor was enthusiastic and straightforward right from the start. I felt very comfortable not only with his knowledge but with his ethics. After several other bids, we went with Green Factor. This was an entire house job with dry spray in cellulose in the walls and ceiling and foam in the basement and dormer. We have not even put up the sheetrock yet and already notice an immediate improvement on interior temperature (no working HVAC yet) and sound attenuation. Insulation services of this type are expensive unless you do it yourself. For the size of this job, there was no way I was doing it on my own. Money well spent. Highly recommend Green Factor.

-- July 2024 Update -- When our indoor unit would not kick…read moreon, I went outside to see that the compressor was cycling. The inside unit had a code displayed clearly. I called Buckners to have them come take a peek, and service the unit (which was ~1.5yr old). They sent a new technician who did not understand the issue. They first thought the unit was low on refrigerant. They then overcharged the unit. They called to the office for a second opinion. They told me that the TXV was sized/not opening. I once again asked about the code on the front. They did not take a look at the code, which the definition is printed clearly on the inside of the furnace panel. They wasted four hours of my time, sent the new guy (with no support), overcharged my system, and recommended a repair which I did not need. I then received an email with a $619 dollar estimate for the labor (as parts were covered under the manufacturer's warranty). But don't worry, there's a cheaper member price! They have an offered "membership" you can pay for monthly to allow you a discounted cost on a repair you didn't even require. I asked why the price was so high, becuase it was a 1-2 hour repair, and they said they always estimate high in the case that it takes too long, we would not pay more. Ultimately that behavior only serves the business. I got a second opinion from a commercial HVAC tech, and he instantly looked at the code, connected a module to read the blower motor status, and recommended a repair. The total time to repair was around one hour. Ultimately, Buckners was a pretty good company early on, but after they were bought things seem much worse: - Scammy practices having a "member" price ... Labor price is inflated to push you toward a monthly subscription - Unexperienced technicians deployed without someone to back them up (this is really Buckner's fault, not the new guy) - Overcharging for simple repairs - Almost caused damage to my condenser compressor due to over pressurization - Wasted my time, and I ultimately was in a state of disrepair longer due to their incompetence The ONLY reason I post these experiences is to warn others who may not be aware of what's happening and have no idea how modern HVAC systems work. Good luck Buckners, I will NEVER call you again for a third chance.

The technician briefly shined his light at the furnace, without taking the front cover off, and declared that the furnace was too old to look at. He would not even attempt to diagnose, and instead said I needed a new furnace. Even though he refused to actually look at the furnace and diagnose it, he still charged me the $109 callout fee. I had told their office when I called to make the appointment that the furnace was old. They could've told me at that point that they do not work on old furnaces, but did not. Instead, they charged me over $100 for doing nothing. If your furnace is older, beware that they may do the same to you. Also, as an FYI, I called a different company who came out, took the front off, cleaned it up a bit, tested for CO, told me it was working just fine despite the age, and that the smell was just related to the pilot light and was no big deal.

I ended up calling and they were very friendly. It's a four hour wait and they'll text with a GPS enabled link to track them. We had a tech named Joel come out and he was highly professional, and really did a great job. He ran all the diagnostics, wasn't pushy about anything but did let me know about some available offers, and found our A/C capacitor was basically on it's last gasps. He even showed me the diagnostic report which helped me to realize that, yeah, we gotta fix this. My A/C unit also has this high pitched whine to it, just always has.. but Joel tightened a few extra bolts and got the noise to die down which was a huge win. I love sitting on my porch and that noise has been slowly eroding my sanity. He also cleaned the ever living hell out of my coils. I mean, he took everything about, took his time, used a cleanser, and they came out looking brand new. Between that, the filter, the new capacitor, we should have an efficient and fully operating A/C as we head into the hottest time of the year. My last review I said I think I've found my go-to for HVAC stuff, as they seemed professional and a step up from some others I've had out over the years. After a few visits I can definitely say they'll be my first. Go with the local guys and try them out for yourself.
