Not sure why all the bad reviews exist, but I have had nothing but a pleasant experience with this shop both times I was in. The first time, my nose piercing from another shop didn't take and didn't heal properly. After some time and it clearing up, I came to Instinktive on the advice of a friend who recently got pierced here. The process was quick and painless and maybe a total of five minutes. The second trip involved changing out the stud after giving it plenty of time to heal. With my fat fingers and clumsiness, I much rather prefer to have a professional change out my jewelry. Again, the entire process took maybe 3-4 minutes. The shop is clean, albeit in a parking lot that could use some TLC. I would come back here for more piercings. read more

Kurt pierced my eyebrow, I was extremely nervous and didn't want it to look bad. It was pierced too low under my brow and I could see it constantly it was very annoying and looked stupid now because of that. On top of that it never healed, constantly pussed, and I had to take it out in the end. I would've taken it out either way because the placing was dumb and made me annoyed constantly. Sad.. 10/9/20 Back in 2006, I visited a friend in Gilbert Arizona. We were close friends and wanted to get tattoos that represented each other. My friend got a cartoon fox on her right calf which took about 45 minutes to an hour. This includes coloring too. I don't remember the name of the tattoo artist who did the work, but he then went to on my tattoo. My friend had or has an email address named hellzbellz. I found this name to be fitting and got a picture of Tinkerbell in a more badass way. Nevermind that she tried to have Wendy killed and is still looked at as a good girl. Oops, I am digressing again. I spent about 45 minutes to an hour getting my Evil Tinkerbell put on my calf. You might have seen it in my reviews on waxing, but if you haven't, I will add it to this review. I will say that the cost of these tattoos were came to $80.00 to $100 bucks. The prices were very reasonable. The guy who did our tattoos is a very cool dude. I have met some tattoo artist that have a real attitude problem and don't like people much. My friend was a bit nervous, but told her what to expect when getting a tattoo. She also read up on it like I did before the day we got our tattoos. This tattoo is my fourth tattoo and is most likely going to be my last. The only way I see myself getting another tattoo is if I lost a bet, or I get one with my wife. I will write another review on my third tattoo experience later on. read more

Went in for a septum piercing and had the MOST awful experience with Keith. Everything was set up and ready to go, he stuck the needle in and it was very crooked so he stabbed the needle in again leaving 2 holes. Once the needle was finally through he attempted to slide the actual jewelry in THREE times, failing each time. He proceeded to say "stop crying, your making me feel bad" after completely failing with this piercing. After being in so much pain and finally telling him to stop he said "I'm sorry, i haven't pierced in 7 weeks. My hands are just too shaky." Overall the experience was completely unprofessional and no after care instructions were given either. Update* The manager Heather called and was very friendly and professional. Ben is not only one of the best all around person but he is truly the best tattoo artist there is. He has done some incredible work for me and I will never go to anyone else in the valley because of how amazing and incredible my experiences have been at Instinktive with him. Angela, IMO is one of the best piercers in the valley and truly has been a huge part in changing the Instinktive name back into something positive from a mess the previous owners and piercers left. I have never in my life had an artist dig so deep into my skin that my flesh ended up peeling up during the healing process taking all the ink with it. I have since had to see a doctor due to the infection. And I don't want to hear a peep from anyone about after care. This required so much more than regular after care. I mean seriously. Needless to say, this is one of the best places i've been to. I've had my nose and belly pierced here as well as gotten 3 big tattoos. I normally go and see sarah, she has captured every vision for my tattoos and works really hard. It's so nice to see a tattoo artist get excited about artwork that will be on your body forever. She is super patient and always checks in asking if i need a break when i do long sessions. Everyone there is so nice and will always talk to you and joke around. My niece and I went here on a whim to get ear piercings. I got three (tragus) and two upper ear & she got a conch piercing. Despite having no family history of keloids & having had multiple piercings my niece & I both developed keloids on all of them. We had to remove the piercings & are now left with unsightly, permanent-scars that will cost a ton of $ to treat. Worse yet, we attempted to reach the shop multiple times for help removing the piercings and never could get a human being to answer. Their mailbox is full & you can't even leave a message. Any business like this should be available for post-care and questions. I would not recommend going here. read more

Definitely would not recommend this place. I don't even know this guys name but my cousin and I went in telling this guy how we wanted our tattoos. He started with mine first and I showed him what I wanted, but he kept pushing to something different. I didn't know how else to say no. He said he's been doing it for 22 yrs and has gotten multiple rewards ( which I doubt) and kept telling us to just trust him. All he did was roughly and badly sketch it out on my wrist with a pen. He even licked his finger and wiped it off of me!! No mask, no gloves. Probably didn't even wash his hands. My experience with this tattoo artist was so horrible. Didn't even tell us how to properly care for it. The letter is definitely not what I wanted, the outline was way too thick and uneven. It was just all around not what I want. My cousins tattoo is clearly crooked as well. I wouldn't have cared to pay $80 for this as it is their minimum, but it was done so horrible. read more

Got exactly what I wanted! Keith did my tattoo today. Called ahead to see if they could accommodate a walk-in. I was told to come right in and they fit me in quickly. I only did two words on my wrist, but my experience was great overall. Keith was friendly and talked to me about what I wanted before and during my tattoo. I also interacted with Ben who talked to me about aftercare instructions. Positive interactions with all staff in the shop, got what I asked for, and was charged what I was quoted before I came in. If I could rate this negative stars I would I got my tattoo done on my back and Chris spelled forgiveness wrong he forgot the e and the n. I did not notice until I got home and my husband to me. I started crying. I was so upset. When I went back he basically acted like it was no big deal did not give me my money or my good tip I gave him and he told me he would give me 50.00 off my next tattoo I went in so many times and he told me he was gonna cover with nude ink after 3 times over it was turning yellow and I just stopped going. Did not like it at all! I went to get my belly pierced and so many things were not ok. First I asked the piercer to use clamps rather than free hand it, he refused even though I asked several times. Secondly when it was done, it just didn't look right. I asked him if it was normal to have that much bar showing *about half the bar*, he said yes. A few weeks later I had to take it out. The piercing was to shallow my body rejected it. Spend your money somewhere else is all I can say read more

First off let me say sorry for the late delay of posting this review considering my experience here was 11/13/15(Friday the 13th) but let me add that I was just able to put in the Jewelry I actually wanted in 2 months ago. I went to this tattoo and piercing shop because they were doing the famous Friday the 13th deal. So I did the $13 piercing, I got two on the same ear next to each other. Of course the pain was expected but I left there happy with my new piercings and even left the guy a $10 tip for doing the job. However my happiness quickly faded. Now I'm not new to piercings, I have my belly done, neck done and another four piercings in each of my ears so when this was still tinder after a month and still red, I became concerned. I went to my usual go to shop, Club Tattoo(the only reason I didn't get the piercings done there is because they don't do the deals but you get what you pay for and I learned this the hard way) I had their piercer take a look at it. Not only did he use too thick of a needle but he also put lip jewelry in my ear!!!!!! The piercer couldn't even take out the jewelry because it was so painful!!! He had to drain my ear and then I had to go back to him two weeks later to get proper jewelry in my ear. And like I said I just got some new jewelry in my ear, the jewelry I actually wanted but because of the placement of the two I am limited to what jewelry I can buy. In my opinion this place sucks!!!! And if your out of ear jewelry tell your customers that!!! Don't f$&@ up their ear! read more

I went to get a pair of replacement Tragus earrings. The lady that put the earrings in was nice. But my problem is that she didn't put the right size tragus earrings in. She had sold me ones that were too long and too skinny. She didn't put the same jewels on both sides to make them match like I wanted and one of the jewels have now turned green. I had my cartilage pierced by another piercer about 7 months prior to my experience with Instinktive. I went to hug a friend and her piercing hooked on to mine, and pulled my cartilage piercing out. I freaked out and was in a ton of pain, but knew I needed to have a professional piercer look at the piercing. Instinktive was the closest to me. I am SO thankful for them. I visited Keith at Instinktive tattoo to get a half sleeve finished getting colored in (the artist that had done all the rest of the work moved and couldn't finish). I asked to have the general look of his coloring in to match the previous work. Starting with the day of getting tattooed, Keith was very unprofessional. I should have realized he wasn't that great looking back. A few of the reasons... * he made a comment about how fast he was numerous times. Yes he was fast, but his coloring in job was not good. The colors are scratchy and parts were not even colored in at all. * The arm that was being tattooed was not prepped in anyway before tattooing. No shaving or anything. * He even had another employee come and hang out in the room as he worked on my arm and they decided it was appropriate to talk about porn while I lay there getting tattooed. Two weeks later I have made an appointment to get touch ups. Upon arrival I am told that the appointment I made was not even recorded, but that it was okay because he was available. So I show him the tattoo and he tells me that he is going to charge me the same hourly rate that he charged before. I inform him that he had a flat rate of $450 for the work. He then lets me know that there will be a $50 charge for the touch up (shop minimum). I am covered in tattoos and have never heard of a shop minimum being charged for touch ups. I told him that I wasn't okay with that, he went too fast and didn't finish what he said he would finish for the $450 which he was already paid. Once that was said he basically told me to screw off because he gets enough business without me. HORRIBLE tattoo shop. By far the worst I have ever been to. Do NOT go here!!! read more
