Ken Smith does not honor his commitments and does not value the time sensitive nature of his work…read more Our plants die without water and sadly rain has been hard to come by. We had a broken line (one that Ken had worked on recently). As soon as I saw that we had an issue with our irrigation system, I contacted Ken. His response was "Sure Tuesday or Thursday it would be at the end of the day." Great- this is the kind of prompt response you would be glad to receive, if there was follow-through...But there wasn't... he didn't show up at all that week. Then when he admitted to not completing his commitment and I asked to please get to it earlier than "the following Wednesday." He refused and said go find someone else. Thanks, I will.

I should have heeded the other negative reviews of this guy. We had a emergency leak in our system,…read moreso I contacted Ken Smith. He said he could come a week and a half later. He would not give me an actual time, even though I asked. I put in on my calendar and waited. Day of the appointment we were really busy around the house trying to get things ready for an event. I expected Ken to show up "afternoon or evening" whatever that meant. I guess I was supposed to be checking my phone the whole day hoping he would contact me, but I was busy and figured he'd show up like he said. Nope. Later I saw a text from him about a time and wrote him back and nothing. I apologized for not seeing his text earlier and wrote him a couple times over the course of a week. No response at all. So, if you want to deal with a guy who seems to think he's doing you a favor, won't give an appointment time, and just has an attitude, then Ken Smith might be the clown for you.

We hired them to re-landscape our front yard, which was not an easy task. They handled the demo, re-leveling, sprinkler system, installation of plants, sod, installed pavers for a wall and stairs from the sidewalk, laid concrete for a new walkway, installed a new fence and installed outside lighting in the new front yard. I'm sure I left out other things, but they provided a skilled and professional crew to do all of this and this was just our first project. They also replaced a fence in our backyard (second project) and then we recently hired them again to replace our backyard deck (two levels). Each experience has been absolutely stress free and amazing. I would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone that needs work done. They listened to us, kept us informed, and worked through some difficult weather at times to get the job done.

By the time the warm weather came around, our hardy weeds would wear down to a brown dust on top of packed clay soil. We might have tried parking cars on the hard pack. It was a hot dusty mess. When the rain came, one day of rain could turn the hard pack into a morass of sticky gooey mud which was hard to clean off the feet, and hard to clean off the dog. Our backyard was unusable about 3/4 of the year. Finally, we had a couple of slopes in the backyard that were a challenge to know what to do with...it was not an easy place, full of work. The best thing (among many) is that Steve is knowledgeable about plants, how they respond to the weather, and where they will grow. He is also willing to work with you, listen to you, incorporate your ideas, convictions, wishes and desires for the planning of your landscape. I do believe Steve was tired of seeing our number on his caller ID when we called, but he always got back to us, answered our questions and made adjustments as he went. We were definitely heard in our wishes. LIving Earth Gardens handled our soil construction (where they turned it from clingy, muddy cement to soil that would grow stuff) They cleared brush, the planted trees, fruit trees, and put in a drip system to help us water it all. From start to finish they had the tools and know how. They also put in some stairs to make the slope navigable. You will find the whole staff energetic, positive and conscientious. We are pleased with our yard and the effort that was made to get us there.
