The photographer working with me was very helpful. She (and the business as a whole entity) guaranteed that they would produce a photo that would be accepted for my school ID card. Well, thank goodness they have their guarantee because I ended up having an issue with my first photo, which had to do with the color of my shirt being too light and perhaps blending in with the white background. The team at Instant Passport Photo offered to let me retake my photo as many times as needed, or they could refund me. I retook the photo, and this second one was accepted and became my school ID. Given this brief but critical experience, I find Instant Passport Photo to seriously be an honest business with a friendly team. What a wonderful experience! The service was quick, with no wait. The price, at $15, was reasonable. Moreover, Dee was so kind and accommodating, taking various pictures of my teen daughter until she was pleased with the results. As a grandma of 11, she is wonderful and very patient with children. I went here for Australian passport photos. The employee was very friendly but unfortunately, the photos were not accepted by the AUS Consulate. The Australian Consulate is very picky about photos, much more than USA passport offices-- the photos need to be a certain resolution and printed on specific paper. I mentioned this to the employee. I asked for a physical and digital file of the photos, and the digital file was very low quality. I mentioned this and the employee said this should not be an issue, and that other clients have submitted low-quality photos with no problems. I just tried submitting the digital file to have it professionally printed and immediately it was flagged and I will have to retake the photo. Unfortunately, this was a waste of my time and money, and now I have to go take a photo again because it was not sent to me in full quality. read more

Love this family-owned business! Dee helped me out and was very friendly. Asked what I needed, had let me check my photo, and made sure the photo was to my liking even after it was printed. Whole thing was done in 10 min (could even be done quicker but I had a flashback Mary incident with my setting powder ). Heads up that they don't accept Apple Pay/Samsung Pay but are working on it! I had my cards and cash on me, but Dee said she knows more people are preferring contactless payment, so she's getting it soon. Very thoughtful of her! They really took their time with the photo as opposed to just sitting me down, snapping a photo, getting it back and handing it over. Dee took two photos of me because she thought the first one didn't match her standards. She did not have to do that (I thought it was ok). I appreciated her attention to detail. Quick and easy! I required 6 passport photos for immigration purposes, and was able to find this location off Reseda Blvd that specializes in "Official Passport Photos". The man who assisted me was absolutely lovely and answered any questions I had regarding whether to smile or not, etc. I was instructed to remove my earrings (but only the pair that aren't studs) before we proceeded. The photo was snapped and I was allowed to view the photo before being asked if I wanted another or if I was happy with the one we'd just taken. I had another taken, but upon comparison I ended up going with the first one anyway!! Usually it's one and done, so I was very impressed I had the opportunity to assess prior to having six copies made. I'll definitely be back for any future passport/immigration image needs. It's worth noting these are hard copy images only, so if you needed a digital you could always scan it in later (which is what I do sometimes) but you won't be able to get a digital copy of the hardcopy images when they're taken at this location. happy to have found somewhere inexpensive, professional, and fast! read more

I called for passport photo pic pricing. I gave all the info, what size it needed to be & the lady quoted me a price. I came in & took pictures. When i was checking out she charged me 3 x the price she initially quoted me. Instead of apologizing for her mistake in misquoting the price she started raising her voice saying shes closing now and basically yanked the photos out of hand and started mumbling words. I should have listened to the bad reviews :( The owner (Jim?): 1) wrote the wrong year on the back of my elderly relative's Canadian passport photo (making it void),  2) took photos with my relative's head tilted (which is against the passport photo rules), and  3) threw a fit after I politely asked about a reshoot the next day, as instructed by Passport Canada agents. He rudely shovelled money at me, snatched my photos that weren't his to take, and growled at me to take my elderly relative to another photo place. Three strikes and he's out! If you're in need of passport and immigration photos, go somewhere else. Here's the full story of the odd experience we had there: I called ahead and made sure this shop could handle Canadian passport and immigration/citizenship photos. The shop owner assured me he could. So I drove my elderly relative 30 minutes there. Afterward, I get home and notice that the owner wrote the wrong year, 2016, on the back of my relative's passport photo. That's a big problem, because Canadian passport photos must be less than 6 months old by the photographer's written date. So I have to drive another hour back and forth to get a reprint with a corrected date.  I raised my eyebrow when he volunteered that it was the first time he'd made that same mess-up *within the past two months*.... I didn't want him to feel bad, so I told him not to worry about it, and that stuff like that happens. After getting home again, I looked more closely at the photos, to make sure there wasn't another error. Then I saw that my family member's head was noticeably tilted in the photos (both for citizenship and passport). It was bad enough that I even tested the photo with a protractor, and her head was angled well-off the centerline.  So, I checked the Canadian photo requirements booklet, and there it was: "The head must not be tilted to the side."  I googled this problem, and came across multiple people whose Canadian passport photos got rejected for head tilt. Then I call the Passport Canada telephone hotline, and the agent strongly suggests the photo be re-taken. So I make time -- for the third time now -- to go to the shop, bringing along my senior citizen family member. I courteously tell the owner about the conversation I had with Passport Canada, and how they strongly suggested a re-shoot because of head tilt, to avoid rejection. You would have thought I asked Michaelangelo to re-paint the Sistine Chapel. Jim builds into a quiet huff, marches over to the cash register with a steamed look on his face, and grabs some bills to toss toward me. Then he snatches the photos (even though I own them and I had not asked or agreed to a refund, mind you). I explained that he misunderstood, because we'd like him to do the photos, we just need the photos without the head tilt.  Instead, he tells us we need to go somewhere else for the photos! (He also seemed to sarcastically wish us good luck finding a place that could produce a photo that meets Canadian requirements.) I was shocked -- was this was this an episode of Pranked?  Nope, he was just acting like an angry weirdo. Anyways, my relative and I wound up at a shop on Ventura near Sepulveda that also knew the Canadian photo requirements for passport and citizenship photos. (And it even happened to cost less than Jim.) And both those sets of photos have since been accepted by the Canadian government. My relative now has her passport and citizenship certificate, so Jim is not the only game in town. I don't like leaving bad reviews and wasn't going to comment, but then I saw Jim's bad treatment of other people who voiced their opinions on his service, so.... Buyer beware! read more

Jim is awesome and very friendly awesome customer service However his wife on the other hand is the complete opposite. Lately they have been closing randomly with no notice to customers and or no note for the delivery drivers. Which should not be happening quite this often.
