These guys are amazing! the work is pristine and the time and thought that goes into it are second to none. I had retractable steps just installed on my new truck. The delivery date was changed and these guys squeezed me in early. it may seem like a little thing, but I have a limp and getting into and out of the truck without help is really hard for me. I have spent a lot of money there over the years with great service.i bought a new vehicle and went back to get some accessories for it I dealt with Rodger he was dishonest he loves the big ticket sales . I wanted new headlights I called and left numerous messages trying to get a price on them he kept telling me to call back in a couple days after over 2 weeks he said he found them and we set up a appointment. The lights are not bright enough I told him I wanted the brightest available He charged me a hour to put them in I saw the mechanic do it in 10minutes the screwed in type I questioned him about the labor he said I was there a hour waiting for it so it was the right amount charged. I am a retired Automotive Instructor I could not believe his bullshit He was going to reimburse me for the overcharge I have been waiting a month so far for the reimbursement but nothing yet .Please be careful of Rodger he will overcharge you and then try to lie to you to justify it. Bought rims tires not cheap rims either dubs and put them on f150 and they installed them and i drove it down road it was fine at 35 to 40 in first ten miles. Then got on highway and truck started shaking at 55 then 65 the seat head rest just shaking so cal oh bring back oh its tires so spend a grand more on tires and they install them and im like are they all good oh yea put tonz of weights on one tire and I go u shure one of those rims aren't bent...I go we can't just get a different pair if they won't work because then there saying there's some hub play so I go why is that one tire have so much weight on it oh some just need alot more weight to balance. I go yea if there's somthing wrong with tires or rims. Anyways they send me out on road again and one of them drove with me this time I go no it's still doing it bad oh thats how trucks drive. I go you want me to throw factory rims and tire on this truck that only has 7100 miles on it to show you it drives smooth because I will. He goes I think it way better. I go are you serious water bottles and headrest are shaking so they made me feel guilty making them have to do there jobs or the right thing even know I was spending more on different tires then I was up to 4500 with crap rims u couldn't go on highway with. No it's customers fault hes just being picky.Yea ok like knowing one of those rims were bent having custom rims on 25 different rides over the years with multiple sets. They could of sent rims back or put my factories back on.. Nope they made me except thats how they wereeven know they sent me away with evidence that one of those rims had somthing wrong even on print out they gave me. So when I take it to ford for recall first time and they check tires. Literally first tire shop since them and what do ya know not tire it was the rim bent that exact one on there sheet they couldnt get balanced right .So yea havent went back since then. My trucks all had rim tires two sets most time so I spent 40 to 50 in rims and tires full leather kits they broke a bunch of my seat buttons and plastics and used caulk to glue plastics they broke everywhere so not even years later those pieces fall apart just driving ..lol..so I would never let them touch another one of my vechiles from that last tire and rim job. Anyone that has no morals or just lack of respect for they're buisness let alone allowing that to happen to a customer. I think all they're employees were just doing what owner wanted so yea it's not just on them being a joke it was all the managers and higher ups I blame ...And yes I have it documented from first wrong turn of that visit. Yea i should of done something but life got in the way. So no I do all my own stuff now and no I would never go back . Im not the only person they've done it too so be prepared to walk away with somthing that should be knew and make u feel great about your car but no u walk away with that happening ..Ur a joke stick to doing alarms or car starters if there even doing that in cars that most have now .. read more

I called up that same morning and he quoted me exactly what I was gonna pay and went through my options when I finally made the visit to see him. The next day I had an issue at first and they fixed it within 30 minutes of me coming in to see them. Everyone was so helpful and friendly, from the sales team to the service desk. I recently had a remote car starter installed at Installations Unlimited. First and foremost, the starter has been great. It was -17 this morning in balmy Syracuse, and my car fired right up the first time - so the install clearly was successful and my car is a champ (not relevant to this review). I had to wait about 2 1/2 weeks to get my appointment for the starter - which I think speaks to the popularity of this place when winter hits CNY. I was given a quote over the phone, and the price was about what I expected. I think you can find cheaper options around Syracuse for an install, but IU is supposed to be the top dog. Everyone was very courteous and helpful when I dropped my car off. I was told it would be done by 6 PM and ready for pick up. Fast forward to about 2 PM. I was called and notified my car was being worked on and it would be ready to pick up by 6. I was hoping for a bit sooner, but they were sticking to their original time, which is fair. Fast forward to 6:45 PM. I am standing in IU looking at their selection of truck parts, sound systems, and TV's, waiting for my car to be wrapped up alongside a few other annoyed customers. After being shown how to operate my new starter, I was sent on my way. After getting home, I realized my parking lights were wired wrong when the car is on and in park - one headlight is now on, while the other side has the proper side lamp on only. I will be bringing the car back to IU to get this fixed which will hopefully be quick - but sheesh, might have been good to check that over before sending it out back to the customer. For this, I give them 3 stars. It could've been 4 or even 5 if I had gotten my car on time and everything was perfect as it should have been. I feel like they had to rush and that's probably why there is a wiring issue with my headlight parking lights. However, my car did start up this morning while I wasn't in it, and that was amazing. read more

Buyer Beware! Gave them the year, make and model of my car ahead of time, and they gave me a quote of $350 for remote starter. The remote starter that they installed cuts out every time I open the door... so I have to restart the car every time I use it. After several phone calls, texts, calling CompuStar to see if they could do anything, Installations Unlimited (N. Syracuse) told me that it would be an extra $100 to have this work correctly. How long have they been in business? Over 30 years? Seems to me like they could have just told me up front that it would cost $450 to have a remote starter put in my car that actually works correctly. (I would not have gotten one at that price). Make sure you check to see what kind of remote starter you're getting - a 'Remote Start and Stop' (their specialty) - or an actual Remote Starter that keeps your car running - or better yet --- don't even go there. p.s. - I purposely got a written quote ahead of time because a friend of mine said that they gave her a quote over the phone that a remote starter would be $350, but when she picked up her car, it was actually $500. Super disappointed with the service I received. The staff was incredibly rude and refused to accept any blame for their faulty product/installation. They refused to take me seriously as a young woman and the only time I was treated with respect was after I had asked my dad to come speak to them. Despite my car not working because of them, I still had to pay hundreds of dollars to get it fixed. On top of that, every employee you see in the store either isn't wearing a mask or is wearing it below their nose. I loved this company, but when I picked up my Jeep I was stunned. The work inside the vehicle that I had paid for had not been done, except one switch on the left side under the steering whee. I am already disabled but to be disappointed by not seeing the lights tide together nice and tidy like the work have done in the past. I am angry about this, be I told it would look nice in the center. Why would you not call me if you could not do it or if you need more time. I paid over $900 for the work Installation Unlimited wanted to complete, not for the customer. Now I am ashame to say I had work done there. Can someone tell me what happened to the quality? I've gotten two services done here and I've been quite pleased. The first was my remote starter. It worked great, however when I received my car back, the time on my dash was not working. They said it had nothing to do with them, which it has worked before I brought it in. Not a big deal but I was a little upset. Second service was the tint on my new car. Love it looks great, just wish they gave a little better customer service. Just because I'm a female doesn't mean I'm a complete idiot, I am a well educated woman and don't appreciate being talked down to by a male. Happy, very satisfied with Josh and his colleague's install last week! Had our TV mounted on the wall, they cleaned up our lines, got rid of a few we didn't need, got the new one up. Also, the guys were/are Beyond knowledgeable, saw my 'power' line was shredded during my install and installed new one with a junction box. Guys were on time, careful and aware of any mess they made (also removed shoes, had drop blanket, etc). read more

All I can say is this until my situation is resolved with them...think twice before you do business with this company for a remote starter, and definitely research other businesses that offer the same services. If you still decide to have them do an installation, make sure you're getting every component that you're paying for, and not just what they have to put in to make it work. This place is terrible. I went there thinking they could hook up and old amp and sub. They said they could do it. Come to find out they can only hook up and amp if you buy it from them. Very disappointed. They came up with every excuse to hook it up. First one is I need the cords to hook the amp up to the sub. Isn't that what I'm paying you to do. Second one is did the amp works before. I can go on but long story short. There is no remote wire going to the amp. So, yes it's not going to work. Ps the amp you said doesn't work is working. You just need to know how to turn it on but thanks for trying I guess. read more

An absolutely horrible company with awful customer service. I would only recommend going there if you enjoy going back every year for problems. Two vehicles had starters put in and each vehicle has been back multiple times. And what a surprise, tried to use the starter this year for the first time for the season, and it doesn't work just like every year. Don't waste your money on subpar work and customer service. TOTAL SCUMBAGS!! Buyer Beware! I replaced the stereo in my wife's car. The new unit cost $129. With their installation fees, the total was about $300. OK, that's to be expected. They charged me 2 different labor charges, but when the car was ready, one of their reps called me and said "Oh, we didn't reconnect the volume control on your steering wheel. If you want that, it will be an extra $100." OK, first, they KNEW the car had volume control on the steering wheel when the quoted me the price. Almost every car has that today. But on top of that, it's like 2 wires that they have to connect. It's not that big a deal to do, and I already paid for TWO labor charges. It was a total SCUMBAG move to try to make you pay an extra $100 for something they SHOULD HAVE DONE IN THE FIRST PLACE. I hope you go out of business, you lying thieves. read more

This place is unbelievable, bought a car starter for my mother specifically asked them how long it would take them to install it the man originally told me no more than 4 hours then we call to schedule the appointment and the man over the phone says can you drop it off from 10am - 6pm for a car starter??? UNBELIEVABLE. Let's just say the car starter wasn't even installed by 6 this isn't the first time I had bad service with this place. I purchased a back-up camera for my van and was given a different product than I purchased. when I returned to confront the owner Scott Ecker he brought in Jason Leppard, service manager who admitted installing a smaller monitor and he did not inform me thinking I would not know the difference and I believe the fact that I am a senior female played a part in his decision. I went there to have a pair of running boards and head rest TVs installed. The TVs were done correctly. The running boards on the other hand were rushed. I found a hole on the side of my vehicle were the had drilled from the frame straight through the door panel and the running board. I am sure they noticed it when it happened but no one informed me. When I informed them that I was there to pick up my vehicle, the front clerk handed me the key and said it was up front. No one showed me the work done and I noticed the damage when I arrived home. I talked to management about getting it fixed the next morning and they promised to replace the damaged running board. Waited months and gave up the hope. If it was a mistake I would understand. The fact they attempted to hide the damage is my true complaint. I felt they lied and were shady about it. Go at your own risk. read more

I will say they did a good job but I gave 3 stars because I had an appointment at 10 and they didn't even start my car til 12 and it took over 4 hours for them to do my car. The overall experience was absolutely horrible, the service teammates were very rude and didn't really care to pay me any respect. First, I'll say that I went to go get 2 speakers installed and hey service manager told me it was only going to take an hour and a half. So I drop it off on Monday evening and after many frustrating phone calls and wasted trips to their store when they tell me it should be ready to pick it up and I get there and it isn't done yet. I had to wait until Wednesday, call in twice because I wasn't expecting it to take this long for 2 speaker. I never once got an apology or anything for the inconvenience and to top it off, they tripped the child safety lock in my drivers door and now I can't even open my door from the inside, I have to roll my window down and open it on the outside. So take my advice and never ever do business here if you want to save yourself the frustration and chaos that will most likely put you into cardiac arrest. read more

I love the radio in my car. My only wish is that when I first looked into the radios, that someone would have come and looked at my car. It cost me about $100 more than the quote because of the speakers needed to stop the vibration. The vibration was the reason for the new radio. But I do love it and the service provided. read more

We purchased 2 different remote starters from IU. The starters work well except one of them does not open the door as I thought it would. The person who completed the demo for us really didn't know the difference between how they worked with different vehicles. There was also a communication issue because I dropped a vehicle off at 8am and it was not done by 5pm as they said they "squeeze" them in if the vehicle is left there and then I think the work was hurried. read more

Last spring, I was in the process of buying a used pick up truck. The truck I liked did not have cruise control - which I MUST have because of a back injury. Installations Unlimited assured me that they could install an after market cruise control. Based on this assurance, I purchased the truck, and left it with them for the installation. On the day I was to pick up the truck I had to arrange a ride as it is a 2 1/2 hour drive from my home. I drove the truck home, discovering that the cruise did not work properly. To top it off, the control handle had been glued to the steering column, not secured with a lock nut on the inside. I called to complain. Maintenance supervisor Jason had great concern that such sloppy work had been done and I was assured that this would be addressed. He seemed embarrassed and annoyed - I'm sure he did take proper action. I was asked to bring the truck back. I drove down, and spent the entire day there while they continued to try to make adjustments. At that time, the cruise control worked about 1/2 the time and would often just disengage all by itself. I went home when the shop closed with it working no better. They knew I was not satisfied. As the weather got colder, it didn't work at all on cold days. I called again, and very convenient arrangements were set up by service manger John - I left the truck at the airport while on a short trip - he picked it up there, and returned it to the airport, repaired with a new unit, the day of my return flight. The new unit works perfectly. It is easy to say a business is good or bad, but it this case, I'm trying to show that while there was a problem, maintenance supervisors Jason and John made it right. They "bent over backward" to make it right. Throughout the very stressful visits for repair they maintained a very professional attitude. It isn't that the 1st cruise control was bad - "stuff happens" - the way they stayed on it reflects not only their professional attitude, but how it reflects upon on the character of the business. read more

While the sales team was knowledgeable and helpful, when I arrived to have a cap installed on my pickup truck, the service was terrible. I spent over $2000 at the store, only to be rushed out after installation with no instructions or directions whatsoever. I was handed my keys and sent on my way, only to have to teach myself all the features of the cap and a rack on top. And, as it turns out, the rack on the cap was wrong, and obviously not checked before installation. Overall, sales team A+, installation F. When your business has "installation" in the name, maybe that segment should be taken more seriously. After receiving a phone call to stop in and have the rack fixed correctly, I arrived to have the service worker tell me "they are swamped" and will have trouble getting to me. I am writing this review while waiting in the store for some help. Frustrating and ridiculous. P.S. While waiting for repairs, a song came on the store radio, which contained every swear word known to the human language. I complained to the front desk person, and there were kids in the store. Absolutely atrocious. I will not give any more business to this establishment. read more

Five years ago they installed my TV and all the bells & whistles that make a great system. I never had a problem. I just got a bigger Smart TV and had them swap out my old unit. They were on time, professional and friendly. Never seemed bothered by my many questions. They took the time to listen and actually cared that I understood what they were saying.
