You'll save a few bucks, but you'll greatly sacrifice quality. I used to do this by going to Picture People and JCP, but no longer. I would rather have my precious moments beautifully captured, because you can never recreate these moments. In fact, I now regret going to JCP and Picture People in the past, because the quality was not as good, and I can never redo newborn shots with my eldest kid. Like others, we used to go to Picture People. In a way it was good that they closed because it allowed us to find At Home Studios. Ken and Stephanie are absolutely wonderful. A few differences between Ken and your typical portrait studio: 1. At regular studios like JCP or Sears, random people are trained on how to use a camera. It's not their full time profession; it just provides a paycheck. Whereas with At Home Studios, Ken's passion is photography and that is all he has done for most of his life. The passion is evident in the fact that his pictures are far superior to anything you could get in a department store. 2. They treat you like family. At Picture People we had to wait 30-60 minutes, even with a scheduled appointment. And we had to wait another 30-60 minutes just to get our pictures on CD. Not to mention them rushing you through the photo shoot so they could take more customers. It was a dreadful experience, whereas we were welcomed into Ken and Stephanie's home like we were family, and didn't have to wait in a queue. 3. Ken is absolutely wonderful with kids, and very patient. He was patient with us as our newborn needed to feed and also change an outfit. Our toddler wasn't interested in looking at the camera, but Ken took care of that with his humor. Our toddler was still talking about him for days after we left. 4. At the typical portrait studio, they only give you about 8-10 shots, whereas Ken gives you much more (all of the good ones). I was always surprised that Picture People used to take so many pictures during the sessions, but only gave us limited number on CD. 5. If you are going to frame your pics, ask Ken to do it. He will touch it up and it will look much better than doing it yourself at CVS or Walgreens. Ken has more expertise on touching up pics than a traditional studio would. And request the frames that day, or you'll never get around to it. Ken and Stephanie aren't pushy and not after every penny like Picture People used to be; you'll have to ask if you want specific prints. Picture People never used to let you leave until you listened to their sales pitch, which was quite annoying when you've already been waiting around in the store for 2 hours. 6. By the end of the session, I felt as if we were with family. In a world where encountering rude people has unfortunately become normal, it was refreshing to meet some really nice people. 7. US Military dignity: Ken and Stephanie have a military family. Their children serve and have been stationed in various places. Being away from your family and pledging your life for your country requires honor and dignity. It is not just an individual sacrifice, but that of the entire military family. This is highly relevant, because such a high level of dignity means that you won't feel cheated. They will do their best to provide you with what you came for, and won't take shortcuts. Ken and Stephanie's art will be with us for the rest of our lives. It's so much more beautiful than anything else we have gotten from the department stores. We're so happy to have found them.

Once we had the date and plan secured, Jenna called me to go over details for the day of the shoot. She was especially focused on how the time of day and the light would play, especially in the hot summer sun. She also asked for the names of all involved (12 people!) and we also went over the list of each group of shots she would take. We settled on photos of mom with her kids and spouses, mom with just her kids, the siblings each alone with mom, each couple alone, each couple with mom, and she even randomly threw in (unplanned!) photos of mom and each of the spouses on the swing that hangs from a tree in the back of our property! So fun! Finally she took photos of mom with her birthday cake with all of us around her and a few of her alone with her cake. She never looked to rush off and made sure we had all that we wanted before she packed up. We had chosen to do the photos around 6pm and Jenna was absolutely correct about the light that time of day...,the images she took could not be any better! We received our photo gallery of the photos taken in a timely fashion and they are all so fantastic! She succeeded in making everyone super at ease and took great care and attention to detail while ensuring that everyone got photos taken that they would enjoy forever! Jenna is the sweetest person and super professional with an amazing eye and true attention to detail! Don't hesitate to reach out to her if you want a photographer to really capture the essence of your people and your day. Sincere thanks, Jenna for taking such care with our family shoot. We can't wait to receive our wall prints and photos!

In addition to being our wedding day photographer for all three of our weddings she also did all three of our engagement photo shoots. I had a specific vision for my engagement photos and asked Jenna to do non-traditional engagement photos in our home and SHE DELIVERED! Being in our home taking our engagement photos was such a special moment for my husband and it made us much more comfortable then being out in public. If you have a vision, let Jenna know, she will make it happen! Not only did my wedding photos come out gorgeous (I still look at them almost daily) but what really made Jenna the best wedding vendor I booked, was the level of professionalism and comfortability she gave myself and my husband. Having your photos taken isn't always the most natural thing for regular folks but Jenna made myself and my husband feel SO comfortable and it SHOWS In the photos! You can see our smiles are genuine both in our engagement photos and wedding day photos. Jenna gave easy directions, didn't over direct and always was looking for opportunities to make us smile and laugh! I also really appreciate that Jenna is not glued to a clock, and she worked with how your day flows and does not leave until every moment is captured. Jenna met with us several times prior to our wedding day to plan and prepare and I felt very supported leading to the day of my wedding and had no fears going into the big day! Jenna captured the best day of our lives with beautiful photos that I will cherish forever! I will always be thankful for Jenna and her work on our wedding day. She already knows that she will be booked for all my other cousin's future weddings AND personally all other big moments in my life that need a photographer i.e. Family Photos, New Baby! WE LOVE YOU JENNA! THANK YOU! ALL NJ BRIDE BOOK JENNA ASAP!

I had so many complicated requests with not a lot of information- rainbow bridesmaids, fall foliage, dog involved - all at a location I had never been to with rooms I couldn't describe. I wanted lots of candids and a lot of fun; I wanted the photos to capture my fun and quirky group of friends and now-husband just being us. Todd spent so much time on the phone with me to get a firm idea of what I wanted and how he could do it, and he made every dream I've ever had come true. People were late, people trickled in at odd times, some people wore masks, and he and Dannette worked with, and through, all of it. With all my goals in mind, he helped me choose the best spots to stand without ever interfering with the joy of the day. I almost cried when I looked at the completed album from the day. They are so fun, vibrant, and alive. Best photos of my dog I've ever seen (and I have taken a lot), you could actually go to the end of the rainbow bridesmaid line and search for the pot of gold, and the leaves are absolutely going off with color in the background. I will treasure these photos for the rest of my life. OH- and he also captured the religious ceremony the week before and did the impossible - made my mom happy. He and Dannette are such an incredible team. Finally, a MAJOR selling point is that everything with Todd is clear from the beginning- the cost of everything, his commitment, and his style. I feel so lucky that we hired him for our wedding.

Then I saw Todd's stuff. It was the first time I felt that a photographer was actually capturing the spirit and energy of the wedding. His pictures were FUN! And isn't that what a wedding is supposed to be? So we traveled almost 2 hours from where we live to meet with Todd in New Jersey. And he was so chill. And relaxed. And easy going. A nice change of pace from the madness of this wedding world. It was a no brainer. And when you book Todd, you MUST book the second photographer as well. We were lucky enough to get Danette, who is AWESOME in her own right. But getting a second photographer allows Todd to get creative. And that's what you want. Because when he gets creative, your wedding pictures turn out awesome. Our guests were calling Todd and Danette the ninjas, because they were literally effortless and yet everywhere, but you hardly noticed them at the same time. Todd leaked 20 photos from our wedding on Facebook a few days after our big day, and all our guests were blown away. My cousin said to me, "Whatever you paid your photographer, double it." Others told us that they were the best wedding pictures they'd ever seen. We received our full gallery a month after the wedding, which was crazy fast. Thank you Todd and Danette, we couldn't be happier!! -James and Shannon

It's tough to come up with a 40th birthday gift for an estranged spouse. These days, the only thing we have in common is our children, so it seemed fitting to include them somehow. In a rare moment of clarity, I found a way to get this done, give business to a worthy photographer ( ahem, and friend) at the same time. I posed the idea to Tom, to do a photo shoot of my kids as a present for my wife and his energy and enthusiasm made me immediately think I made the right choice. We discussed locations and concepts based on what I had seen of his work. Tom had some fantastic ideas and was very receptive to my own ideas. Tom feels that the comfort of the subjects is important, so we decided to do an outdoor shoot at the park in the neighborhood where they grew up. The day came and although Tom had nothing to do with the weather, I couldn't help but feel that with the most beautiful fall day I'd ever seen, Tom has an in with Mother Nature. The shoot went flawlessly. He worked great with usually difficult kids and I could tell they felt at ease. My kids are into cosplay, where they like to dress up as their favorite characters. They loved that Tom incorporated their costumes into the shoot and couldn't wait for the pictures. And what pictures they were. I've never seen my kids look so good. The shots were classy, true and fun. I am more than pleased with the results and they were a big hit with everyone who got one. Tom uses an easy method for getting you your pics. He sets up a web page where you can view all shots and order them however you wish ( mugs, cards, photos, digital, etc) . With one click, a picture will be in your hands within hours. The overall experience with Tom, was one that I can't say enough good things about. If you have the need for such services and you are in the greater Philadelphia and South Jersey area ( or even beyond- it's worth it) make sure you check Tom out. He even made me look good...and that's saying something.
