I chose to do a city hall wedding because - I cringe at the thought of setting tables and picking flowers and making a big deal out of everything; - exchanging pleasantry with extended family and feigning interest all day felt like an even bigger chore; - I had to make an obnoxious political statement about millennials & fiscally responsible life choices & wedding industrial complex yada yada; - I have big time daddy issue and partly had the 'bullshit wedding' to troll my dad. but unconventional quirks aside, deep down every girl wanted to look conventionally pretty for that one special day. I was thrilled to find someone experienced in city hall weddings. Tom knows his way around the Philly city hall very well. He knows all the spots and angles, and if i hadn't been half an hour late for my 2 hr appointment (blaming it on the pouring rain/highway traffic) he was planning on going to a beautiful park nearby for more pictures. we got solid 90 minutes of pictures. my friend took pictures from the same angles and we saw those pictures immediately and thought they turned out really well - until we saw the professionally edited ones! read more

I had a great experience working with Thomas. Needed to update my headshots for work, LinkedIn, etc. and Tom delivered. Thomas is very professional and personable. I met him for the first time during the shoot and it felt like I've known him for years. So, in Episode 1 of TRC Photography, we discussed buying prints of Toms amazing work. In Episode 2 we discuss the other aspect of his services, The Photo Shoot. It's tough to come up with a 40th birthday gift for an estranged spouse. These days, the only thing we have in common is our children, so it seemed fitting to include them somehow. In a rare moment of clarity, I found a way to get this done, give business to a worthy photographer ( ahem, and friend) at the same time. I posed the idea to Tom, to do a photo shoot of my kids as a present for my wife and his energy and enthusiasm made me immediately think I made the right choice. We discussed locations and concepts based on what I had seen of his work. Tom had some fantastic ideas and was very receptive to my own ideas. Tom feels that the comfort of the subjects is important, so we decided to do an outdoor shoot at the park in the neighborhood where they grew up. The day came and although Tom had nothing to do with the weather, I couldn't help but feel that with the most beautiful fall day I'd ever seen, Tom has an in with Mother Nature. The shoot went flawlessly. He worked great with usually difficult kids and I could tell they felt at ease. My kids are into cosplay, where they like to dress up as their favorite characters. They loved that Tom incorporated their costumes into the shoot and couldn't wait for the pictures. And what pictures they were. I've never seen my kids look so good. The shots were classy, true and fun. I am more than pleased with the results and they were a big hit with everyone who got one. Tom uses an easy method for getting you your pics. He sets up a web page where you can view all shots and order them however you wish ( mugs, cards, photos, digital, etc) . With one click, a picture will be in your hands within hours. The overall experience with Tom, was one that I can't say enough good things about. If you have the need for such services and you are in the greater Philadelphia and South Jersey area ( or even beyond- it's worth it) make sure you check Tom out. He even made me look good...and that's saying something. read more

Thomas Robert Clarke Photography was a great find for me. I requested a quote for photographers in LinkedIn and decided to go with Tom after our initial phone conversation. It was a great choice. The process was very easy and convenient. Tom came right to my home. Tom is professional and prompt. He arrived at the agreed time and setup in minutes. Very easy, casual experience. We had a great conversation while he took my LinkedIn profile headshots. He has his own site to view and select your preferred shots and the final proofs were delivered in just a couple of days. I would highly recommend Tom to anyone looking for headshots, family portraits, corp events, or any other photography needs. read more

Just got my corporate headshots done the second time in 5 years by Tom. He is professional, reliable, provides quick turnaround, but most of all great results. In particular, I love that he was able to straddle the lines of corporate and artistic styles to produce photos that worked great for the purpose but stood out from the crowd. read more

Tom did the photography for my wedding and was awesome. Leading up to this I would begrudgingly e-mail photographers thinking I'd never not get the response "packages start at $7000". When Tom replied I was pleasantly surprised at how it actually fell within my price range (and with albums! - you won't know how rare this is until you need to look into it). Tom's an easy guy to work with - he explained everything like prices and services over a few beers and then went to work scouting locations and asking all the important questions. When the big day came, he and his 2nd photog Meredith were totally on top of things, almost definitely more than I was. I even had to ask Tom's advice during the thing on scheduling issues since I apparently never paid any attention to anything at any previous wedding I was at. The pictures came out great, as expected, and Tom has been very patient with two people who are even lazier after the thing was over than they were before (we'll pick those pictures soon man). Also - no proof book here, but all the individual pictures printed out and hand delivered with the CD which is pretty sweet. So, in review, hire Tom and you will have awesome wedding pictures or awesome pictures of whatever you need pictures of. read more

The man is a marvel. Professional, enthusiastic and brimming with talent. He was able to work with a 5 month old and keep him (and in turn me) in good spirits throughout a near two hour shoot. Coming up with creative solutions as to how to position the kiddo in new ways; hence achieving camera angles and shots no one expected. Thomas went so far as to remove the contents of his camera bag and use the foam padding within to create a makeshift chair with a hollowed seat to allow for the child to be seated stably within it, after it was covered with a white towel we happen to have on hand. After a bit of Photoshop, the results were gorgeous shots of a smiling baby sitting up. Shots that without such ingenuity would have been impossible due to the baby's fidgety nature. The rest of the family were all photographed as well and everyone was all smiles both throughout the experience of the shoot and after seeing the results. The few edits that we requested after reviewing the shots online, such as cropping, were done quickly and flawlessly. These were our first family pictures and Thomas Made them memorable. The bottom line is that we enjoyed the whole experience so much that my better half and I decided to come back with our new puppy to do another shoot. Being an animal lover himself, Thomas beamed with excitement when told of the prospect of working with a dog, suggesting parks and places around the city. Like I said, the man is a marvel. read more

I was connected with Tom through Square credit card reader. He was amazingly prompt and professional and great fun to work with, even with my feisty dog pepper. The final photos came out terrific and I'm ordering additional photos for my personal use. Renee Van Hoorn read more

We were looking for a photographer for our family dinner. We eloped a month earlier and we were looking for someone to take family photos before the dinner, but also understood how to artfully capture the joy and spirit of the moment. Tom was the perfect person!!! We conversed through email since we are based in CA. He was so friendly and professional in all his correspondence. When we finally met the day of the dinner, he was on time and ready to go when we were. He was flexible with our delays (kids, ill family members, etc). I never felt pressured or rushed. Even during high stress moments, he was calm. He was open with his communication with both families and specifically us, making sure we had the photos we wanted. All in all, it was such a positive experience. Plus, when we saw the photos, his enormous talent shines through his work. His attittude, work demeanor and skills are wonderful. I highly recommend him! read more

We loved our previous pictures so much we hired Tom again! This time we threw a lot of chaos in the mix, because we wanted to be outdoors, with a dog, in a park with other dogs, and a large geese & squirrel populations. Tom with his zen-like calm triumphed over all these variables and produced pictures that I could not possibly love more. Some are posed, some are action, but my favorites are the whimsical ones. These are ones that only a great photographer can capture. It is a split second action that captures the true nature of the subjects. Tom captured all of the fun and spunk of my dog. I giggle every single time I look at certain pictures because they are the little goofy things my dog does on a daily basis that are so endearing. I really cannot convey enough how awesome Tom's photographic skills truly are. I will without hesitation hire him for all my future picture needs! read more

We hired Tom for our wedding photos and we couldn't be happier with our decision. Booking with him was super easy- he responded quickly to all of our questions typically the same day. He was also very understanding and flexible when we had to postpone our wedding due to COVID. He was great on our wedding day- we usually don't like having our pictures taken but Tom was so nice and friendly that the whole experience was super relaxed. During the ceremony and reception, he was like a ninja and we didn't even realize he was there most of the time. We got the photos a few weeks later when we returned from our honeymoon. They were amazing- he really captured everyone's happiness and excitement of the day. We highly recommend Thomas Robert Clarke Photography. read more

My wife, Rose, and I found Tom through a friend of hers after becoming frustrated with a discount wedding photographer. With short notice, Tom immediately invested himself. After a deep sigh of relief, we decided to have engagement photos. Tom didn't disappoint. He was accessible, friendly, and creative. He made sure our engagement pictures were ready to choose from in plenty of time so that we could give them as gifts to our parents. On our wedding day, Tom was pleasant, calm, and in control. We were able to get every shot we wanted- inside and outside. Many of our guests commented on how fun he was to be around. Our sneak peek (yes, we already have some pictures back) showed us how right we were to make the switch to a real photographer. After the wedding, Tom came with us to my wife's grandparents' house. It was a surprise visit since they couldn't make it to the big day for health reasons. He took wonderful pictures and made them truly feel like a part of our day. To sum it all up, we feel like Tom went above and beyond for us. To put it his way, he is now our "Photog 4 Life". We can't wait to see the rest of our pictures. PS: His assistant, Josh, is excellent too. My groomsmen and I had a great time with him before the wedding and he was very open and adapted well to my small South Philly row home. read more

like jim h, i too am a proud owner of some fine Thomas Robert Clarke original photographs you really don't need a fancy degree to appreciate art but just in case you want to flex your art appreciation muscles, you should know that photography is the only artistic medium that is completely dependent upon light...the quality and intensity of said light in the capable hands of a talented photographer captures a moment that is universal and timeless and quite appealing tom has a good eye. his compositions are well-balanced, his subject matter fresh and interesting, the quality of light exquisite. shot in full 'kodachrome' color or tonally rich black and white there is something to please just about anyone - nature images, architectural details, candid portraits, unique abstracts, etc... i have to agree with Jim re: "Happy Buddha," everyone who sees this smiles and asks "Where can I get me one?!?" well, now you know! read more

We asked Tom to cover a graduation of a student at UPenn. Tom was responsive, responsible, helpful, and a real pro. I needed to find someone who could do graduation portraits, so I turned to Yelp. The decision to go with Tom was pretty easy because of what people have said about their experiences with him. He came to a place that worked for me and communicating with him was really easy. I ended up getting graduation portraits as well as some business head shots all of which turned out really well. Within about a week my photos were available. Like others have said, getting your picture taken can be kind of weird, but Tom was cool about it and I felt comfortable with his style and direction. Most importantly, I was pleased with the photos. read more

I recently hired Tom to take some photos of Franklin Field as a Christmas present for my boyfriend. It's a very special place for him and one which he regards with a sort of reverence. I knew the photo had to be absolutely perfect, and one that captured the deep emotion he feels for the field. As soon as I contacted Tom, his response was immediate and by our first conversation, he already had a dozen or so creative ideas for the project. He went FAR beyond what I asked, and pushed the limits of what I even thought possible. To say I was pleased is an understatement. It was my boyfriend's favorite present from me...ever. Simply put - Tom gets it. He was able to take my "vision" and create a piece of art beyond what I had even imagined. And it only took him a week! I will absolutely use him again and look forward to being the proud owner of one of my own Tom Clarke photos someday! read more

My husband Chris and I got married in Las Vegas in June 2012, and Tom came out west to shoot our wedding. Tom is amazing to work with- he's calm, patient, (and also probably one of the funniest people I've ever met!) We like candid shots rather than posed photographs- we got both and they all looked relaxed and natural. Tom is great at making people feel at ease and capturing those great moments. He was genuinely reassuring on our actual wedding day, which is key considering what a nerve wracking experience getting married can be! He gave our families, my husband and me some very helpful tips along the way, encouraging us to take our time and enjoy the moment. We came away with some lovely gems, and had a blast in the process. Thank you again Tom- we love you!! read more

We recently hired Tom to shoot a surprise 50th anniversary party for my parents. First, which is so important when working with vendors, Tom was very responsive to each and every inquiry of ours. I cannot tell you how frustrating it can be when someone is slow or simply ignores correspondence, but Tom took all of the anxiety out of the equation. His prompt replies were greatly appreciated and he openly addressed any questions or concerns we might have had. The night of the party Tom showed up promptly to setup and took the most amazing photos! He truly captured the surprise and the celebration throughout the evening. Tom was truly a pleasure to be around the night of the party. Finally, the finished product was delivered via flash drive exactly when promised, which was approximately two weeks after the event. All the photos were really great! We would definitely recommend Tom to friends and family and will keep him in mind if we ever have another bash! I found Tom through yelp about a year ago, when I got engaged and started looking for someone to photograph the wedding. Tom responded to my inquiries in record time, and offered multiple samples for us to look at as well as references (like other yelper Shawn!). Not only are Tom's rates affordable, but he is absolutely, without a doubt, worth every single penny. I got exactly what I wanted in my pictures. They were artistic, beautiful, creative and candid...everything I wanted them to be. He had samples up to look at just 3 days after my wedding, and I have been getting emails and responses about how beautiful they are, and how much they captured the true essence of the wedding. I had planned a few surprises for the wedding, and Tom was there to help with the execution of all of them. My husband and I have said since day one of working with Tom, that hiring him was the best decision we made regarding our wedding. Tom became a friend to us throughout the process, and it was so easy to be comfortable and trust him with our most precious moments. I am completely in love with the pictures he took and can not give a higher recommendation for him. I have big plans for Tom, I want him to photograph my life! read more

We were absolutely thrilled with our experience with Tom Clarke! We chose him as our photographer after reviewing samples of his work and after seeing how patiently he answered our many many... many questions. He made it a priority to meet with us twice before the wedding to get to know us and our style as a couple. He also visited the church and reception site so that he could make sure our wedding day would go smoothly. He was professional, attentive to our needs and responsive to our requests. He brings a pleasant, relaxed, fun vibe that is refreshing on your big day when so many other aspects are tense and more formal. On our wedding day he made the experience fun and let us go at our own pace. The pictures are spectacular. We asked Tom to let his creativity take over for our pictures and the results were more than we could have imagined. Many of our friends have mentioned that our pictures have a unique cinematic, magical quality. You simply do not get these kinds of pictures with a cookie-cutter wedding photographer. Our wedding guests have been so pleased with some of the pictures of themselves that they plan to have large prints made and framed. Tom's website is very convenient for your guests to select photos they like and have high quality prints made and sent directly to them. Our wedding was on March 9th and Tom has already posted the pictures to his website, password protected, for our review and our prints are on their way to us now. We cannot wait to select photos for our custom wedding photo album. Photography was our #1 priority for our wedding because we know these memories are priceless. Our university needed to photograph a high-profile alumnus for the alumni magazine and Tom did a top-notch job. Tom was absolutely amazing! He provided an amazing photo session for my brother's graduation. What a patient guy! He walked all around campus with my family designating nice scenic spots to take what turned out to be beautiful photos! My family is a group of characters and Tom managed the entire situation making them feel so comfortable around him.
