My family became members of SCC when I was 6. People can tease me all they want about my hoity-toity upbringing, but I can't deny that the country club played a huge part in my childhood. Tennis lessons, pool activities, Sunday brunches, 4th of July fireworks, wedding receptions, bar mitzvahs. All of it was great fun! Growing up, I always dreamed of having a house as grand as SCC's clubhouse. I am still in awe of its classic design to this day. The pool is bustling every summer with children activities and the tennis courts are well-maintained. I'm not a golfer but according to my parents, SCC is one of the top 3 courses in Toledo. The ballroom is home of Sunday brunch and private receptions, the mixed grill on the lower level is for casual dining, and the 19th Hole is bar/lounge reserved for golfers only. All in all, the grounds are beautiful (I'll upload pictures on my next visit), and the club remains as classy as it was 20 years ago. If you are in the market for a membership, SCC is the best club in the area.

Huh??? There was a metal box in a breezeway that said donations. Ok so I placed books underneath so someone with some ambition could sort in the morning. Nope, guy comes out and says I am littering. Took books to Goodwill. Don't know what was up with this apparently lazy man. Won't donate again despite being a generous patron over the years.

We were able to check out Bennett Orchard, I'm glad we did. Quaint, cozy, & inviting. We stopped in…read moreon Sunday for donuts & cider tasting. We perused around the general store for a bit before grabbing some freshly made (weekends only) cider donuts. Oh my gosh! They were delicious. I should've grabbed another bag before I headed out! Next went in the neighboring room for a couple hard cider flights, bag of donuts in hand. We sampled every cider on the menu. Each of them were crisp, clean, tasty, and hit the spot! I think my favorite was the ginger, and his was the pear. We sat inside because it was rainy, but there is plenty of outdoor space to enjoy tastings. I definitely want to come back with a cooler so I am able to leave with a stash of goodies, and to check out the rest of the grounds- and for more donuts!! This is the only orchard I know of that sells hard cider with a little lounge area. Even though I don't drink, this is a great hang out/ get together spot for sure, especially if you're into the rustic, farm vibe. They have a hay pile for the kids and a little area to play around as well as a good sized seating area outside with shade. Unfortunately I didn't take pictures but worth a stop especially to meet the wonderful, friendly staff that work there!
