As you might guess from the name, Devil's Lake Yacht Club is the flagship club for Devil's Lake. It's for members and invited guests only, so I felt like a real high roller when I got to go recently! Recently remodeled, I loved that they kept the grand old bar, with the addition of some stylish and comfy barstools for congregating around and chatting with friends. Instead of grabbing a drink that night, we headed over to our table, where a friendly server greeted us and took our orders. This evening it was the fried chicken dinner all around, with the option of white meat, dark meat, or combo. While we waited, we munched on warm rolls and enjoyed the view on the lake. A short time later, our dinners arrived, and it was some of the tastiest fried chicken I've had in a long time. The crust tasted like a mixture of cornflakes and buttermilk, with just the right amount of seasonings. I got some green beans and mashed potatoes on the side, both of which were delicious. Maybe it's my good memories of coming to the lakes as a kid, maybe it was that it was the perfect end to a perfect Sunday, but the dinner at the Devil's Lake Yacht Club hit the spot for me. All that colorful sculpture lying in a field, so close to the road. Previously, I had Reyna in the car and didn't want to stop with her inside. But today, I was by myself and was able to take a moment and do a mini-tour. Unfortunately, no one was there to talk to them about the place. But with the sun shining brightly, and the weather cooperating, it was a perfect time to take pictures. Most of the sculpture had price tags and the names of the artists. One piece, i recall, had a price tag of $6,000. But who would care when the art would look so cool among the conifers and cornflowers? It's a bit tricky to get in. The speed limit is 55 mph and trucks barrel by. Signal ahead of your intention to turn so you don't get run over. I'd approach as I was leaving Blissfield, not before. A left turn could be deadly!

One of the most awesome things they have is a $5 play all day game library where you can try as many games as you want that they have available on that shelf. It's a great way for friends, family, and new acquaintances to get together and have fun. I love that all the LGS in the area are pretty supportive of one another too. It's a great community to be a part of and watching small businesses grow along side one another.

Tons of little girls in dance gear running around, waiting for their class, coughing on each other and being loud, but if you can manage to ignore (without stepping on) them as you make your way to the back studio, then you will find Jill. Great Zumba instructor, high energy but she watches her class and adjusts the workouts to the attendees' reactions. It was a pleasure and worth the trek down to Milan to take this class. First class is free. After that - $9. If she teaches somewhere else, I would follow her. From the outside, the venue is huge, inside it's tiny and cramped except for the studios. Studio we Zumba'd in was spacious and had really nice air movement.
