One of the BEST fish and chips I've had so far! Son and friends were staying at the hotel attached…read moreand we met them downstairs at the pub/bar. Cool vibes all around! Cool decor and cool music- ranging from New Order to alternative . Menu was legit British pub bar food - pies, burgers, fish and chips etc. But lemme tell ya their haddock fish and chips was one of de best I've ever had to far. A large more than generous portion battered and fried perfectly. Imma steak fry cut girl and their chips were delicious ! - thick cut, the way I like them and fried with a delicate crispy outside. We did have to ask for some ketchup. I thoroughly enjoyed the side of mushy peas- seasoned lightly, partially mush with partial full size peas. The steak and ale pie was delicious. Drizzled the yummy gravy all over. Order food at bar, they'll bring food to your table when ready. Great food, reasonable pricing for generous portions! Cool vibes

NQ never ceases to amaze!…read more "Lets goto the new pub round the corner from where we live" retorted a friend when quizzed on the P of A for the night. I was intrigued and then a flashback. On a particular night the week before I witnessed a 2am refurb going on, builders were hard at work transforming this particular building into something very appealing. As we walked in a week later, Abel Heywood was born in our reality. What an establishment! Let's get one thing straight, I love the NQ. But, as I've mentioned numerous times in previous reviews, Thomas street on a late Saturday night has begun (unfortunately) to resemble (much like somewhere like Printworks or Deansgate locks) a George Romero film from the 70's. That's exactly how we felt driving through it on our way to Abel. Now Turner street on the other hand has always been my favourite. It's that street in the George Romero film the Zombies haven't discovered yet. So we quietly parked there and tiptoed into the Abel avoiding attention of the Thomas street crowd. And wow, what an oasis. Calming music plentiful booths and comfy couches to sit on and timely bar service with friendly staff. The drinks range I've been told is fairly decent and there's a restaurant and a boutique hotel on the first and second floor respectively. Most of all the chilled out vibe on a saturday night was a clear winner. The seating booths are super comfy with heaters lined in between, which is likely to be a God send in the upcoming winter chill.

Such a beautiful place. Inside is decorative, service was awesome as well…read more We came here for lunch, and it did not disappoint. The drinks, service and food were delish. We tried several different dishes like the Buttermilk-fried chicken, sourdough bread, mash potatoes, french fries, baked broccoli and Slow-cooked beef cheek. My favorite was the buttermilk fried chicken. Definitely can't go wrong with that. All of it was delish. So much flavor and good size to share with 3 people. We also got Sticky toffee pudding for dessert. So yummy! Definitely give it a shot.

We had SUCH fond memories of this place from a few years ago when we gave it a stellar 5 star…read morereview. This time it simply disappointed in almost every way. The service was OK, the food offerings just not enticing at all (we ended up with Caesar salads as the main, and stopped to buy some food at a Sainsbury's local and take it back to our hotel room. The cost of cocktails and mocktails was absurd. Mrs G got a mocktail that was totally tasteless for £9.50. I had a margarita that tasted good but the glass was 80% filled with the biggest block of ice that I have ever seen - for £14.50!!!! Advice - stick with beer or wine and don't even consider cocktails!!! The place is still attractive but the fact that it was virtually empty on a Friday evening at 7-8pm is maybe explained by all the foregoing??

Came here on the end of the month Friday party and what a great place to start…read more A great selection of restaurants from Jamaican, burgers, Asian chicken, a great selection of beers and seating area for tons of people. I snack on pork belly and wontons, while we downed quite a few beers, but had excellent service, great atmosphere, a great place to come and eat and walking in old town. Highly recommend.!!!

TL;DR - Another great food hall, and a great addition to the Stockport food scene…read more Food halls seem to be all the rage these days, but this charming hall in Stockport is a real find. Like nearby Mackie Mayor and Altrincham Market, it's an old building which has been beautifully restored. If you've visited either of those sites then you know what to expect - a variety of food and drink vendors around the sides and seating in the middle. Grab a table, note the number and then go order your food. You pay when you order and then someone will bring the food to your table when it's ready. There's a great variety of foods here - pizza, pasta, Indian and Thai when we went - and we had an absolutely amazing Indian themed fried chicken burger topped with an onion bhaji. Absolutely delicious. There's beer and wine available too, plus a tea and coffee stand. I have it on good authority though that some of the beers here are pricier than you'd find in other nearby bars. But that's a minor grumble. For the setting, the food and the atmosphere, the Produce Hall is definitely worth a visit.
