Antiquated systems. DO NOT BOTHER. There are other places that are much more advanced and user friendly. If you are searching for a quality HR solution, This is not the place. You will still end up doing all the work yourself. Their employee facing dashboard looks great, don't buy into it. The back end is complete garbage. Save yourself the hassle. You'll be doing just as much work as you were before, but now you're paying out the nose for it. We are 2 months in. ZERO ADDED VALUE. I am submitting this review and complaint to document a deeply concerning experience with Insperity that resulted in billing disputes, material misrepresentations, and--most critically--the withholding of payroll and compliance records required for a state audit. This review is factual, not retaliatory, and intended to inform other business owners evaluating PEO services. We began paying Insperity in July after being promised a September rollout. That rollout did not occur. Payroll access was not provided until the end of October, employee benefits were not fully implemented until after Christmas, and retirement services were not established until January 2026. These delays caused significant operational disruption, financial loss, and contributed to the loss of a foreman. Throughout this period, Insperity required and accepted advance payments. Due to delays and mismanagement, we effectively double paid for services, yet no refunds were issued. The medical insurance rollout was mishandled and resulted in costs more than double the quoted amount. Despite withholding funds from employee paychecks, Insperity has not paid Q4 unemployment insurance to date. We continue to receive invoices as though our account is still active, despite terminating the relationship. After termination, Insperity retroactively claimed our account was paid in arrears, contradicting our payment records and prior communications. Most concerning, Insperity is refusing to release payroll and compliance reports unless a disputed invoice is paid, even though those records were generated during periods already paid for and are required for a state audit. These records are client-owned and legally required. Withholding them places our business at regulatory risk. Insperity failed to deliver core services as promised, mishandled payroll and benefits, caused financial harm, and is now withholding legally required records. This constitutes a breach of contract and a serious failure to uphold their obligations as a PEO. read more

We do not recommend Insperity based on our experience since July 2022. Their monthly service fees are THOUSANDS of dollars higher than what we will be paying with our new provider, and we were never given a clear explanation for the fluctuating fees and percentages. We also encountered a legal issue with an employee due to mishandling on Insperity's part, which required significant effort on our end to get resolved. Throughout our time with them, we had to regularly push for basic tasks to be completed correctly--despite paying for full-service support. Their payroll system is outdated and frequently inaccurate, leading to constant back-and-forth on payroll amounts. We repeatedly received notices for additional tax withholdings due to onboarding errors on their part. Even after months of notice that we would not be renewing, they were unprepared for our final payroll needs. I received an email today regarding a 401(k) Plan Change/Transaction Confirmation. The email indicated, "If you did not authorize a change or transaction in your 401(k) account, please call the Insperity Contact Center immediately." I did not authorize a change or transaction, so I called Insperity to find out what is happening. I've been on hold for an hour. Every 15 seconds, a message comes on saying, "Your call is important to us. If you'd like us to call you back, press one. Otherwise, please hold." Insperity's flavor of customer service tells me just the opposite: despite the fact that they manage my retirement funds, I am not important to them. In fact, it almost seems that I am irrelevant to them. Horrible customer service. Highly recommend that organizations do not place retirement funds with this organization. read more

Horrible customer experience. They make it difficult to reset password, which they require every 13 weeks. The hold time to reach a live human is worst than any of our other past 401K managing companies ... maybe they are cheap. That must be their niche, no good, poor experience, but cheap. Do they email your email (automated?) to advise time to reset password? Nope. Does the log in tell your employee that the password is expired? Nope. The error message is the same as if you mis-keyed the password (it uses the word invalid) Their systems underperform and it seems that in general the company lacks the intuitiveness to service the customer with a positive/easy customer experience, Considering Insperity for company HR or 401K? Me and my colleagues would say run the other direction. Pay a bit more ..... unless you would prefer your employees to complain to HR about the dysfunction of their clunky site an poor customer service. .. .and eventually with no resolution simply disengage from using their site/portal. 5 thumbs down ... wish I could give Zero stars! read more

If I could give Insperity negative stars, I would. Entering into an agreement with Insperity as a PEO has been the absolute worst business decision we have made as an organization. They are great at the sale of the partnership but not with the actual execution. As others have noted, they will sell you the moon and stars and then when it comes time to actually put in the work and deliver...it's like you are in a one-sided relationship. Their responsiveness, whether by email or phone, is laughable and nonexistent. Months after ending our contract with Insperity, we are still dealing with the fall out. Insperity does not care about your company, you will just be another number to them. Unresponsive, and overcharging and they act as if they are in charge of your company when they should treat you like the valued client you are. They act as if they are the ones paying each employee when in reality they are getting paid from us. They make everything sound seamless and ultra-effective during their sales pitch but all their offers are empty. Could not recommend this company any less. read more

As a business owner, Insperity sucks away all of your control of your own employees. You can't make a decision without getting their approval. I have been with other PEOs and this wasn't the case. If I could assign them a -10 I would. Their myIsolved portal is the worst and although I'm a fully registered user I'm continuously denied access; while I'm fully understanding that software is often finicky, follow-up from Insperity's tech department is awful. Each time they "fix" the problem the same error code arises and they take days to respond to a simple access request. On another occasion, all the employees of my firm were mandated to complete cyber security training on Insperity's portal as part of a SOC 1 compliance audit. Half the staff could not login and once on, the program would not permit the user to advance in the training portal without making unwarranted alterations to one's computer view screen settings. Despite Insperity knowing we were on a tight timeline for completion, they remained apathetic to our repeated requests for help. My only dealing with Insperity is as a consumer in an HR role. I needed to confirm former employment on a candidate for a position within our firm. The former employer referred me to Insperity and provided a phone number and extension. The phone rang and rang, with no opportunity to select an extension, then eventually their phone system hung up. I found a different phone number at Insperity's website. I called and went through the various options and selected the option for employment verification only to receive a recorded message that employment verifications are available online. Horrible "customer service", a waste of time, and totally useless. Insperity's customers who think this is being handled appropriately on behalf of their companies are mistaken. This review is for Insperity managed 401k funds. It's an absolute disaster and something one should avoid at any cost. They all the sudden lock you from your account and then they enforce you to go through a completely unbroken verification process, which they can not explain themselves. As a result, your 401k assets will remain in their custody as hostage as you can not access them or transfer to any reliable 401k providers. Scam artists; avoid at any cost. read more

Insperity and Isolved is an awful service. their software is outdated and not user friendly. we have had them for just under three years and have met with them multiple times to get accrued benefits correct. last month I found they still weren't correct which then had insperity and isolved finger pointing at each other and ultimately blaming my team when we didn't put the time off amounts into the system (we weren't able too). I filed a complaint with the BBB and yesterday insperity told us they are cancelling our contract in two months because we aren't happy and their team isn't happy working with us. horrible customer service at a premium cost. don't let their snakeoil salesmen sell you a lie read more

This has to be hands down the WORST PEO provider I have dealt with in over 20 years! They are incompetent at every level. Their customer service is non-existent and insanely impossible to get ahold of. You'll average over 1 hour of waiting before someone is available and then that person never knows anything and always has to get someone else's help and all the while your issues stay unresolved. I have called every day and been on hold for over an hour each day and have never been able to get through to anyone. This company is the worst! Avoid them like the plague. I have been trying to get access to my 401k funds with no avail. They rolled my fund over to a trust company and charged me distribution fees even though I never requested a distribution. Now, the trust company they sent my funds to will also charge a distribution fee. All of my money is uselessly eaten up by fees, and not to mention, I have spent hours on the phone with customer service wasting my time. I am a CPA with over 40 years of experience. This has been one of the worst decisions I have ever helped my client make. We were promised the moon, paid a large set up fee and are being nickle and dimed to no end. When we made the change, we figured this would save us from having to hire a Human resource professional and do the proper vetting. We've had multiple meetings with Insperity where they apologize and assure me we can get these things fixed. A few examples, unless an employee gets a live physical check, their home address is not printed on their check stubs. This makes it difficut for employees to prove their wages when they apply for a loan or proof of residency; We have many different departments and employees' earnings are allocated to those various departments. We just ran bonuses for employees and I was not able to enter the amounts directly. There was a problem with the system so the customer service provider had to enter them for me. Also, when I got the bonus report back, the system wasn't set up to allocate the bonuses to the various departments. To, me that's pretty basic. We made the change from ADP which was supposed to have saved me time. The opposite is true. It is now taking me 3 times as long to make sure the allocations are correct. The reports which are downloaded into Excel don't have any formulas so I have to recalcuate them to make sure I agree with them. After 6 months with them, stay as far away from them as you can. read more

I worked for a company who used these clowns as their HR provider. Absolutely horrible. Completely incompetent in every way. Takes forever to get anyone on the phone and your queries never get resolved. I am trying to rollover my 401k into my new employer's 401k and these guys are bungling things up, and not providing me with up-to-date statements. Calling them is doing no good. I cannot stand Insperity Payroll Reports. Just to get a payroll register I have to download a canned report and manipulate it in order to properly record payroll in QB's. In addition, you have to access a separate portal to retrieve time sheets and further more you will have a timesheet set up in your name to access the time and attendance portal... even if you're NOT an employee. I'm a contractor doing the accounting for a small nonprofit. There is no vacation accrual report that shows dollars, this has to be manually calculated via excel. This company is bad. Don't waste your time and money with these clowns. This company employs many useless humans that know zero about the work that they do. You will be given "dedicated specialists" for every sector of the business, however they fail to know basic labor law code. You will find yourself sending dozens of e-mails, trying to make calls (be ready to sit on hold 30+ minutes each time). Implementation and integration will not be simple. I have been trying to implement PTO accrual for one of our subsidiaries for over 4.5 months, and I am now being told nothing will happen until mid-year. Mind you, the state of CA requires those accruals printed on paystubs. Long story short, go with ADP and manage your own HR, payroll, retirement, etc... You will at least be a master user and have full control. Please note that using Insperity does not mean they will do anything but provide forms (you can easily find on the govt website) and a platform-- you will still do all the verifications and submissions. Waste of money and you will be at the mercy of people who are in no rush to accomplish anything. read more

This company is horrible! My entire company is on direct deposit and for some reason that seems to be "secret" they sent us all paper checks this time. I bank online only and I mobile deposited my check 2 days ago and Insperity won't verify the funds so my bank won't release my money! I contacted my HR, they gave me the number to call Insperity which was just a phone tree with no way to get to a person. I chatted Insperity help and they gave me a phone number to call which went back to my company's HR!!! I am so upset over this and I now have late fee due to this stupid company!!!! We engaged Insperity as a potential solution for our company's HR needs. we are a mid-sized business (150+ employees). Their sales consultants listened to us for 10 minutes and then went straight to recommending a PEO solution without even understanding our needs. When I told them we needed to stop and really think about this, they asked us if we could cancel the conversion to our new payroll system (that we had already been working on). Needless to say, we concluded our talks. I recently had lunch with an executive who kicked Insperity out and he described their business dealings as awful, too expensive and a complete disaster. read more

Signing in takes too long and I'm kicked out of the portal often. Too many technical issues. When contacting customer service for help, I was on hold for over 30 mins and they could not help me. The person I spoke with was short and rushed me off the phone. The dashboard is confusing and not easy to navigate. My company downgraded from ADP. UPDATE - Their Escalation Team called me to tell me they reviewed all my calls and they confirmed their agents gave me the wrong information and did not handle my case properly but could offer nothing more than an apology. They have the weirdest insurance policies, their insurance runs from whatever the date the company contracted with them to the next year, (e.g. April to April) so the enrollment period is opened to only April of each year, however your deductible is calendar year based, in other words unless you stick with the same health insurance you're yearly deductible will always start in April. Now that I'm leaving the company, in finding out the insurance doesn't cover me (and my dependents) until the end of the month, but rather the day that I leave, so unless I find a job the very next day and they begin coverage the same employment day I need to enroll into COBRA for that gap; however I cannot enroll into COBRA proactively but rather need to wait 14 days for the enrollment package to arrive. I now see why everyone as rated them one star, only wish they would do something about it. read more

I'd give negative stars if I could! Working with Insperity has been a terrible, regrettable, infuriating experience. They seem so nice, tell you how they're going to make your life easier, how they will save you money, and how easy the transition will be. It has been a complete nightmare! Nothing was true. The time I have wasted from the start til now I can never get back, and my company is suffering because of it. I have spent what seems like 100 hours in meetings in person, on Zoom, on the phone, etc bc they don't make anything easy. Their website is terrible! It's complicated, it's not intuitive, and whereas my previous payroll provider had about three steps and they automatically took you from one step to the next, Insperity has about 30 steps, all on different pages, with different people, and in complicated, time-consuming formats. Time clock data is ridiculously complicated. I can't even figure out how to look at available PTO time and sick leave balances. I cannot say enough about what a mistake it is to work with them, to fall for their lies, about the terrible experiences I have constantly. Do not make the same mistake I did! 1. extremely difficult to get hold of... everytime i call there is at least 20 calls in front of me.. when its finally my turn i was told to be transferred me to another department which instantly disconnects the call 2. when they make a change to my paycheck, there is no notification...it just shows up as an extra item ... so be sure to check your paycheck for inaccuracies. 3. accidentally cancelled my dependent's medical insurance and again, no Fking notification so we didn't know until we were trying to use the insurance. You are told a fairytale story, shown amazing slides and presentation and when you actually sign on the dotted line, it all goes downhill from there. Nothing that was told to you, showed to you even works out or true. They don't care about your frustrations or even help you to resolve the issues. How they got rated the top 5 is beyond me. We are paying them but yet, I am pulling all the work - so where and when does the PEO comes in? They are supposed to be your external HR representative and again, I'm doing all the heavy lifting?? Honest review is you are better going with Trinet or Paychex for these services. Small and medium size businesses beware. I don't normally write reviews, but my experience was so poor I felt obligated. Do NOT invest any time into investigating Insperity. They will require you to submit all of your current pricing for all of your services. They sell you on the fact that healthcare will cost less. In the end healthcare will cost less, but they will REQUIRE you to sign-up for other services at exorbitant prices. In the end, it will cost you about the same. If you include the fee that goes to the sales person it ends up costing you thousands more ($5k in my case). There tools are slow, outdated, and hard to use. The demo does not do this justice. Getting any kind of report requires a certification in Insperity. I run a tech company. I know how to navigate online tools. Insperity does not function well. Read the other reviews. In the end I left after about six months. Ultimately this will cost me more money, but I could not in good faith continue to give them money. In terms of cost, it probably the most expensive option available. In terms of time, it IS the most expensive option. Before Insperity payroll took 30-seconds. Now payroll takes a couple hours every week. If you are a small or medium size business they do NOT care about you. They will give you hours to respond to emails or decide at random to mail PAPER checks to your employees. The people behind the scenes DO NOT care about you or your employees and will show you ZERO respect. read more

Insperity: if you want to punish your employees for being dumb enough to work for you. As a primarily web-based company, you might expect their website to be fantastic. Or at least usable. You would be disappointed, though. It's terrible. No flow, no working search, every piece of information you need is hidden in some bizarre corner of a form 3 clicks deep. You might think their telephone support would be helpful, to navigate this mess; you would still be disappointed. If you manage to wait through the perpetual multi-hour call backlog (and call before noon Texas time or you won't be in the queue long enough to get connected) you will find that nobody that answers the phone knows anything about anything. They will promise a callback, which will never come. And then they will screw up your tax withholding, your insurance elections, and everything else they can get their little digital paws on. 1 star because Yelp requires it, should be 9 dumpster fires instead. read more
