Some restaurants become annual traditions. Guncles Gluten Free has become one of ours…read more For the past three years, our summer work conferences have brought us to Mobile, and every year we make sure Guncles is one of our final stops before heading back to Birmingham. At this point, it wouldn't feel like a Mobile trip without it. This visit was just as good as the previous ones. My wife and I shared one of their warm cinnamon rolls, and it continues to be one of the best things they make. It's served warm with a rich cream cheese icing that melts into every bite. Soft, flavorful, and indulgent without being overly sweet, it's become our tradition to split one before the drive home. We also picked up a few Red Velvet Whoopie Pies, which remain another favorite. The cake is incredibly moist, the cream filling is rich without being heavy, and it's hard to believe they're gluten free. Another item we always look forward to is their Oatmeal Cream Whoopie Pie. Unfortunately, they were sold out during this visit, but based on previous trips, it's one of our favorites and well worth trying if it's available. One of the things that impresses me most about Guncles is that the food doesn't feel like it's trying to compensate for being gluten free. The baked goods simply taste like excellent baked goods, period. The staff has always been friendly, welcoming, and consistently provides excellent service, making each visit enjoyable from start to finish. Favorites * Warm Cinnamon Roll * Red Velvet Whoopie Pie * Oatmeal Cream Whoopie Pie Three years, three visits, and the experience has been consistently outstanding. Guncles has become one of our favorite Mobile traditions, and it's one of the first places we'll recommend to anyone visiting the area. Whether you're gluten free or not, this bakery proves that great baking speaks for itself.

We got the cinnamon roll, cheddar biscuits, chocolate Bundt cake, and oatmeal cream pies. Everything was delicious! The size of the cinnamon roll could've been bigger but I don't think you could tell the difference from a normal cinnamon roll. It was all fresh and decadent. 10/10 if you're gluten free!

I was the only customer there and trying to decide between cookies or cupcakes. Ultimately, I decided on six cupcakes - three different flavors. 2 of each: cookies and cream, strawberry shortcake, and chocolate peanut butter. They all looked delicious but I noticed when I opened the box they were packed in very tightly causing the different frostings to rub on each other. It wasn't a huge problem, but it definitely took away from the presentation as I set them out. I hope they come up with a solution for this so that the cupcakes stay as pretty as they are when you buy them.

Type of Food: Freshly made premium frozen custard, custom blend-ins (Whitsers), cookie sandwiches (Whitties), sundaes, shakes, and floats. Review: The custard here is fantastic. We loved all of it--the ability to make your own custom creation is a huge plus, and the classic turtle flavor was excellent. The shop itself is nicely tucked away in Daphne and features a very pleasant outdoor seating area to relax and enjoy your treat. Cons: The layout of the parking lot and drive-through is highly inconvenient. The drive-through path uniquely wraps around the entire entrance and exit areas. If the drive-through line gets long, it blocks the main pathway and makes it very difficult to easily access or maneuver into the parking lot. Thumbs up / Thumbs down: Thumbs up (We would definitely go back for the custard, though we'll be mindful of the drive-through line next time!).

Our Mardi Gras season here in Mobile has ended, and as we are well into Lent, I finally have time…read moreto compose a review of this unique and very good bakery. I wish that I could say that I was the one at our household who discovered Dropout Bakery, but I cannot. Instead it was my wife who, searching for someplace other than a supermarket to purchase a King Cake for our Mardi Gras celebration, found this fine bakery. Now, as I have never actually been to its location in downtown Mobile, it should be understood that this review is based solely on my experience with consuming their product. My wife learned that this bakery has an online ordering system, and that the product ordered through their website should be picked up the following morning. She further learned that, because of high demand, their in store product usually sales out within minutes of their opening each day. So as a first try she ordered a 6 inch King Cake, a small spinach quiche, and two petit-fours. The next morning she drove downtown and found, as she had learned it would be from online reviews, a long line to the bakery of customers waiting for the business to open. After going the long queue and finally upon reaching the interior, she found her online order waiting for her, separated from the other produce which was being quickly bought up by the customers in shop. This small business simply does not yet have the manpower or equipment to produce enough product to last beyond one day. Which is a good thing for customers who insist on same day freshness. The quiche and petit-fours did not survive long enough for me a get a photograph of each, but I did manage to get a photo of the King Cake, which I have included in this review. Finally, we found each item to be superbly delicious and very much worth the effort. We will be back again soon in order to sample more of their product, especially their larger King Cake when Mardi Gras season rolls around again next year.

Today we came to pick it up and when we got home they did a terrible job at making it. We said an orangutan, asked for orange on him, vines, and trees. What we got was quite the opposite first of all when we got there they said it was next Friday, we literally talked about picking it up on August 4th. Also the cake was so bad, they literally put Mickey Mouse, no sight of orange or a monkey just an albino mouse. No vines or trees either the only thing they did good on was just the happy birthday fisher. Everything else was terrible. Going to ask for a refund too. I didn't order an autistic albino mouse I simply asked for an orangutan.
