we were so upset when we arrived last monday 7/13/26 and saw the condition of this place. the…read morebuilding looks nice from the outside and it is beside an apartment complex that appeared to be lively and in good shape--so we were shocked at how unsafe we felt inside the self storage, both in terms of leaving our belongings in the building for any amount of time, but also for our personal safety. we had rented the unit based on these reviews that said no one was even able to access the upper floors without management letting them up. instead we arrived (with our four-man moving crew and 30 ft truck full of our belongings) to find the "coded" gate totally open to the road, zero staff on site during business hours, and every single outer door unlocked. the elevator was fully broken, trash was piled in vacant units with their doors wide open, a transient was smoking (not weed) out of a clear glass pipe on the third level, with his liquor bottles and garbage spread out across the floor and music blasting like he felt completely at home. we decided that even though we had no other place to take our stuff and the movers needed to leave, under no circumstance could we stay one minute longer here. a bright spot in our awful day was how responsive the StoragePro corporate team (who are based on the west coast) were to us when we couldn't get anyone on the phone at albany-menands and then arrived with our whole moving crew to an empty office and all the rest of it. those kind folks did refund us our money after we filed a report about all this, but i still feel compelled to share this experience with anyone researching safe storage options, since the existing reviews on here do not accurately reflect the current state of this facility. my husband did later have a phone call with the person who was out that day with a family emergency, and while i understand that emergencies arise, that still does not change the reality of the physical state of the facility or its total lack of security and oversight. we consider it a blessing that everything worked out the way it did and we were able to see the true state of affairs, rather than foolishly leaving our things there.

Just know that Lamanna was prompt, careful, friendly, and super helpful. They are *serious* about being a good crew, and we were lucky to be able to book them. Steve was even good enough to help keep me from having a meltdown about a month before our move! Service was efficient but still very careful to protect our belongings and the safety pf the 5 man crew. Everyone was very professional and our move went off without a hitch. Lamana's knows what they are doing. We packed our personal items, so the crew only had to move the furniture & boxes. They just needed us to direct them as to placement in our new house. In all, the entire process took about 5 hours. We should note my husband is immune compromised and all staff took precautions when it came to pandemic precautions. We are grateful for their professionalism and concern, in this regard. There was a GREAT article about Lamana's in the Albany Times Union on 9/2/20, this is a multigenerational family run business and they deserve the high praise and recognition. I've already passed them on to another friend who will be moving in the near future and to our realtor. I do recommend calling & booking as soon as you have a closing date. these guys were angels in our life when we needed a miracle!!! we hired them to move our things…read morefrom the u-pack pod facility in cohoes to our intended storage facility, albany menands self storage. they did such a great job packing the heavy contents of our three pods into their truck, and were knowledgeable, professional, and good natured. when we arrived at the storage place to unload, we found an empty office, broken elevator, and homeless people partying in the unlocked building. the sun was going down, the truck needed to go back to the facility, and our only plan had suddenly fallen apart. the folks from don's so kindly came to our rescue and stored our belongings overnight at their facility, helping us brainstorm new options. the next day they helped my husband move it all into a massive u-haul we'd rented, and when he paid the invoice, they hadn't charged us any more than their original quote, despite the headache our chaos had surely caused. i am truly so grateful for the kindness and patience they showed us, and of course for the expert job they did with the move itself. highly recommend!!

Movers didn't show up the day of the move after getting the permits for no parking, arranging time off of work and family members to help. Don't waste your time on this company, you'll be running around doing it all on your own anyway.

Allsion arranged for me to move in the same day, took care of setting up auto-payment, and in general made the whole hassle that I was facing that required storage in the first place a lot easier to handle. Charlie always makes sure that the occasional stiff door problem is resolved FAST. Another really pleasant person helping out the customers. I have been there 3 years (or is it 4?) and have never had a roof leak in any of my units. They are solid, the doors open and close properly, and the floors are always dry - no ground water seepage even in wet Springs. The floors are raised just enough so that rain water does not roll in, but it is still very easy to get a pallet jack or hand cart into the unit. This is an example of a company in a very low tech, unglamorous business providing a world class quality customer experience on a consistent basis; unsung, under-appreciated, but stunningly easy to deal with and very very high quality units.

He was excellent and even gave me a shorter, easier to remember gate code. He was most excellent and a key factor to my overall first impressions.
