They constantly raise the rate. My current rate is now double what it was only a few years ago. Run fast and far.

We personally feel that Lamanna was worth even more than we paid (Important to note that we've moved twice from NYC in the past 5 years, and city prices are very different.) I really thought I'd written this review already, but you know how crazy it can be when you move. I've got specifics about the guys on the crew, but I don't have the notes right now and can't remember, it's just too hectic still. Just know that Lamanna was prompt, careful, friendly, and super helpful. They are *serious* about being a good crew, and we were lucky to be able to book them. Steve was even good enough to help keep me from having a meltdown about a month before our move! I hope to update this later after we've actually settled in better, but honestly, things just keep piling up and I don't know when I'll get to it.

Service was efficient but still very careful to protect our belongings and the safety pf the 5 man crew. Everyone was very professional and our move went off without a hitch. Lamana's knows what they are doing. We packed our personal items, so the crew only had to move the furniture & boxes. They just needed us to direct them as to placement in our new house. In all, the entire process took about 5 hours. We should note my husband is immune compromised and all staff took precautions when it came to pandemic precautions. We are grateful for their professionalism and concern, in this regard. There was a GREAT article about Lamana's in the Albany Times Union on 9/2/20, this is a multigenerational family run business and they deserve the high praise and recognition. I've already passed them on to another friend who will be moving in the near future and to our realtor. I do recommend calling & booking as soon as you have a closing date. We were able to get them within a few days of our closing, but with the good press and so many happy customers, I'd say they're only going to get busier. Great job. Great local business. Can't say enough great things about them.

Then they showed up 2 hours late. Then they complained that I was unprofessional by getting up in my face and swearing at me. Mover Jay actually said, "What the fuck is with your attitude? You copin' a fuckin attitude with me like I did something to you. I don't even want to keep doing this move for you." For context, I was upset that he showed up two hours late with no explanation but continuously complained he was tired, and I got stuck with an additional fee for returning the truck late because of them. My "attitude" was actually, asking them to get started when they finally arrived. Don't waste your time with these assholes. They'll make your move more stressful, if they even show up. And at this point, if you've already booked, maybe pray they cancel on you too. I'd give zero stars if I could. Overpriced, useless local movers. Don't waste your time, money, or sanity on them.

During the initial process he bragged about how he has 15 homes worth of furniture for staging and implied that he would provide many things that never materialized for us. In the end what he did was to rearrange our shabby old furniture and lamps. He brought only what he could fit in his small car on one trip for staging accessories. During the process of "playing tetrus" with our furniture he became irate and literally had a temper tantrum when I confronted him about using our furniture and placing a large television blocking the view from a window. This inappropriate behavior continued throughout the rest of the process. Using this company was an unpleasant experience due to the owner's unprofessional demeanor.

Orchestrating this move…read morefrom North Carolina for my elderly father living in New York, felt like climbing Mount Everest with a toothpick!  And entrusting someone I have never met before with this task wasn't something that came easy for me.  But I must say, when I sent Neil an email from his website he responded the very next day.  We had our initial conversation the same afternoon.  I immediately thought "I like him and he sounded like he knows his stuff.  I'll kept my remaining reservations on hold for a bit and move forward."  My reservations had NOTHING to do with Neil, but instead me giving up control and 100% letting someone else drive. I think you are almost in disbelief when you hear the numbers of hours it will take to methodically dismantle the contents of your home.  Neil spoke my language from day one - "I need an hour estimate/cap, don't discuss cost with my dad, all bills come to me, and he are the tips and tricks to navigate my dad's "potholes".  He kept me informed every step of the way, contacted me when he had questions, and worked with us to spend his time and our budget where it made the most sense. As the process evolved, Neil continued to take care of tasks I had assumed I would have to make imaginary free time to do.  He coordinated with our realtor, packaged and shipped items we asked for to us in NC, returned our cable equipment, etc. etc. etc. When it was all said and done, he actually came in under his original quote!  I told him hiring him was the best decision ever and there's NO WAY I could have done everything he did in the time he did or maintain my sanity! Here's how the process worked for us -- Neil worked with my dad one-on-one to go through EVERYTHING in the house to determine what he wanted to take to his new place in NC.  We opted to forgo movers and have Neil box and ship all those items to us, so we left the furniture and big pieces behind.  Then Neil organized an estate sale to sell off everything remaining.  Any thing leftover after the sale was then donated or trashed.  Any debris was cleared by Neil and his team and the house was left broom-swept clean. Our first meeting with Neil was on March 22 and the house was emptied by May 9.  I can wholeheartedly say, Neil was worth every penny, the nicest guy you will ever meet, straightforward pricing, and trustworthy!  Sure, I could have saved money and done it myself, but realistically, I'd STILL be there NOW (whenever you may read this review) trying to weed through 60+ years of junk!
