For years, I have played at Inside Edge and have not found my rhythm due to spinny tee shots and super long wedges. It was not only Inside Edge but all of the simulators. I tried to find a place that didn't have a 3800rpm backspin tee shot and yes, Taylor Made fit me with an estimated 2100 rpm spin rate. I decided to give them a try again because I had free sim hours from my tournament play. I have excellent news. I brought in my prgr doppler radar device to check distance and ball speed. The prgr device has been verified to be +-1 mph clubhead and ball speed to a Trackman and to my surprise it was spot on for most of our players. See pics. As the most recent review is from 2019, I thought I'd weigh in. I've been visiting Inside Edge for several years (less so during the pandemic), trying to improve driver speed. A buddy and me visited several times last December, reserving the closed "Curved Bay" room to limit exposure, but no one is using masks anymore. They have 3 types of bays: 7 standard bays, one with a curved screen in a bigger room, and one wrap-around screen in a separate room. Frankly, I've found that the standard bays are just fine, and are a bit less expensive. The driving range simulation provides a number of stats and allows you to compare and average stats for shots for any club. Of course, the measurements don't seem to always match outdoor reality, but they seem consistent relative to each other. Compared to my portable Garmin monitor, it seems a bit more accurate. You use their balls, which are marked to allow the camera to immediately assess spin. However, there is no replay to visually show you how your clubface actually hit the ball. There are a number of courses you can play from throughout the world, but there are many famous ones that aren't available. Even so, there are enough that I've probably only played 20% of those available. They recently installed a software update that added more courses. The biggest problem I have with indoor simulators centers around depth perception on shorter shots; "feel" doesn't cut it, so you have to learn how far to hit or putt based on distance to the pin. Also, it doesn't appear that this simulator actually reflect a difference hitting from trap or deep rough. Sam manages the facility most weekday mornings, which is when I tend to play as there is an appreciable discount for seniors playing before noon. Sam does a good job in getting everything set up (and then fixing something after I've screwed up by fiddling with the interface). They offer a selection of sports drinks, water and beer, as well as some microwaveable snacks I believe. read more

Inside Edge is made for die-hard MN golfers. The people who want to work on their game during the winter. I have now played three different times in their simulators. We usually book the private room in the back, so you can really enjoy the experience with a few friends. They have famous golf courses from all over the world. Last time, we played St. Andrews. Obviously, you're hitting the golf balls off a mat, which I personally don't really enjoy. Beyond that, you also can't simulate the pressure of being on the golf course for real. So, I don't put much stock at all in the results from our rounds. However, it's a good way to get some swings in during the brutal winters. The current rate for the high-end simulator is $47 for an hour. One player could play an 18-hole round in an hour. If you played quickly, I would think 2 guys could crank out a round in an hour. The one thing I would like to see some improvement on at Inside Edge is the food offering. We ordered a pizza, and it was very sub-par. It wasn't cooked well enough, and it felt like a $2.50 frozen pizza from the grocery store. On the other hand, the cheese curds were the real deal. read more

Since winter is almost a year-round season in Minnesota I'm glad options like Inside Edge exist for when a trip South isn't an option. The folks behind TwinCitiesGolf.com recently took over Inside Edge and seem to be running things pretty well. There are a dozen simulators available, some classic, others panoramic, etc. They're not Trackmans, but they get the job done and have a number of courses available. If you're peckish or parched they've got pizzas and beer, as well as a few other options in between. The people working here have always been friendly, rates are reasonable and it'll continue to be a solid option for the 6 months a year the weather here is anything but friendly. read more

The most inaccurate simulators I've ever experienced. Having had my clubhead speed and ball speed measured thoroughly, including on trackmans, I was disappointed to see the illogical results of these simulators. The ball speed readings were physically impossible relative to clubhead speed, causing drivers to read well short, while wedges read way long for some reason. Also, the staff member failed to tell me that apparently my odyssey 2 ball putter would need to be taped over for the putting simulation to work properly, which is absurd. Don't waste your time or money. Far better options out there. read more

Went to Inside Edge for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. It took 7 or 8 holes to get used to some of the quirks in playing virtual golf but once we did, it was lots of fun. One thing that was sort of annoying was the inaccuracy of the system off of the tees and in the fairway, causing distances to be well short of reality.....so be prepared to club up one or two clubs. Don't know if there is someway for them to tweak the algorithm in the simulator or add some sort of multiplier to make this more accurate but it would be nice. Also, when you get within 100 yards the simulator was a little long on distances. We sailed over several of the early greens thinking that we needed to club up like we did in the fairways. But, despite that, I had fun and it was a positive experience. read more

This place is awesome! I played spyglass hill and wow it really was fun to do something other than hit balls at a net or inside the braemar bubble. The staff there is really friendly and are there to make the experience enjoyable. They were able to walk me through all the options and quirks with the machines and also explain how it works. Let's be honest, it's -10 degrees outside, so anything indoors involving golf is good. I visited Inside Edge in their new location, and by the looks of things, they weren't fully moved in yet. No TV's were on the wall yet and some simulator bays weren't working yet. However, a friend and I were able to use one that was working and were able to play an 18-hole round without any errors. It's surprising how accurate the software is to know how far you're hitting the ball and with what type of spin you're putting on the ball. For the most part everything was good. PROS: Clean facility Not too loud Not overly crowded with non-golfers Good selection of courses to play Exceptionally accurate software (About Golf simulators) CONS: 3.2 beers at $4.25 each 18 holes and a few beers will cost $50 each, which is a bit much On the day I was there - one of the curved screen rooms had a group of young adults using it. It was evident that someone in there was smoking weed, but nothing was done about it. Additionally, without being fully moved in, prices shouldn't have been at full price (I missed the football game on TV!) All-in-all, if you're looking to just get a few swings in to keep your swing active in the winter, go over to the golf dome at Braemar and save yourself $40. However, if you want to add an element of actual course play and don't mind throwing down $50, then this is the place for you. I'd recommend a reservation on the weekend though, as the simulators book up at prime times. read more

The place is good for winter golf. One tip is make sure your driver is not white or the sensors won't pick it up. But the main reason I'm giving two stars is that they serve 3.2 beer. I asked the guy why they are serving crap beer and he said it was because the liquor license was too expensive for real beer. As a small business owner myself, I can understand this. However they don't mention it in their menu and still charge 4.25 for it. I had three beers before I realized it and felt like I got ripped off. Not that I needed the extra 1% alcohol, but they shouldn't charge that much for it. read more

Great spot to get your winter golf fix. You use your own clubs and surprisingly you get to putt. I'm not a golf simulator expert, but it seemed like top notch quality. I just read another review about 3.2 beer. That is pretty weak if not properly advertised as such. read more

Inside edge is a good spot to get some swings in during the cold months. Pros: Good choices as far as the simulator is concerned. Play courses, range your clubs. I prefer bays 6 and 7 over 1-5 and the surround room is ok. 6-7 seem bigger. Cons: Mats are beat down and need replaced where all the ball striking occurs. I'd just say to have your expectations in check when you show up. It's not tracman, putting and chipping, I'd skip all together. Go into it that you are going to get some swings in and bang a few balls with friends and family, you'll have a great time. If you go there expecting warm sun and great food you'll be disappointed. It also beets hitting frozen cracked balls outdoors at a golf zone for example. read more
