Much to our surprise, Big Bear had a lot to offer. For a family with teenagers and adult children. The entire indoor space is themed around Minnesota woods and is well landscaped with faux pine trees, rocks, and rivers. We also happened to play the indoor mini golf on New Years Day and it was decorated for the holidays. A nice touch this time of year. The theme is subtle, but as you play the course and read the titles of each hole (Northern Lights, Bear Paw, Walleye, Snail, etc.), everything starts to come together. What really sets this course apart from many that we've played are some of the clever hole designs. For example, the shape of Bear Paw looked just like a bear paw, Big Bear is definitely worth the long trip out to the deep burbs and I especially recommend it to anyone with kids. We made the 44 minutes one way drive from Elk River.

Drove about 30 mins to visit and play mini golf today. The website said they were open. The voicemail recording said they were open for mini golf. Only to arrive and the door locked and no one around. Sad to bring visitors from out of town and have this experience. Probably won't try again.

    Great indoor venture!

Mini golf was fun and affordable! $6.50 for kids and 7.50 for adults. Woodsy theme with 18 holes. We will be back!

Always fun to go to Golf Zone and hit balls that actually go outside. It's easier to tell your distance versus inside a dome or simulator.

Always stalls available. Comfortable temps. Trackman is great. Best place to practice during winter months.

Has Golf Zone closed permanently, as I've seen stated, or is it just still closed from the summer and opening yet this winter? It will definately be a loss, if it is not reopening!

I've been playing Chaska Town Course since it opened in the late 1990s (I play there about 4 times…read moreper year, on average). And I'm still not tired of this course -- at all. It's the best public course in the West Metro by a good margin. I think it competes well with Legends Golf Club in Prior Lake and Rush Creek in Maple Grove -- but both those two courses are ~ 50% more expensive than Chaska Town Course. Town Course has an excellent practice facility. The course itself is challenging and interesting. You have two fun driveable par 4's, a decent amount of water hazards, and a lot of natural beauty. Now that I think about it, nearly every hole is interesting. You have some great par 5's that really tempt you to get home in two shots, but they are well-protected by trees and water. The course is always kept in immaculate condition. They also do a good job enforcing pace of play -- I don't recall a round ever dragging on longer than 4.5 hours. The food in the clubhouse is good, too. Great patio overlooking the stunning 18th hole. They have a Weekday Special Rate for teeing off before 11 am on Mon - Thursday.

Great atmosphere, check-in was easy, they had live music on the patio, and overall was a fun course and experience. Greens seemed really small but they were in really good condition, and not terribly priced. Playing on a Sunday evening at 6:30 was beautiful with the sunset. Especially loved the par 3's - they were challenging, different lengths, and had great looks!

I'm so glad that we were able to find it as it was so worth it. The restaurant is huge and has a cool bar area with multiple TVs throughout the entire place. The food coming out looked very good and our waitress told us about the special of the day which was a French dip sandwich and fries and so glad we chose to order it. The meat in the sandwich was super flavorful and the odds you sauce on the side was even butter to dip it in the french fries. We had an event to attend and needed a quick meal and this hit the spot. The only thing we could recommend is that they offer drinks in glass versus plastic.
