I've been playing Chaska Town Course since it opened in the late 1990s (I play there about 4 times per year, on average). And I'm still not tired of this course -- at all. It's the best public course in the West Metro by a good margin. I think it competes well with Legends Golf Club in Prior Lake and Rush Creek in Maple Grove -- but both those two courses are ~ 50% more expensive than Chaska Town Course. Town Course has an excellent practice facility. The course itself is challenging and interesting. You have two fun driveable par 4's, a decent amount of water hazards, and a lot of natural beauty. Now that I think about it, nearly every hole is interesting. You have some great par 5's that really tempt you to get home in two shots, but they are well-protected by trees and water. The course is always kept in immaculate condition. They also do a good job enforcing pace of play -- I don't recall a round ever dragging on longer than 4.5 hours. The food in the clubhouse is good, too. Great patio overlooking the stunning 18th hole. They have a Weekday Special Rate for teeing off before 11 am on Mon - Thursday. read more

First time playing the course because I heard it was good. The layout was really good and no boring holes, although I only played the front nine. Great atmosphere, check-in was easy, they had live music on the patio, and overall was a fun course and experience. Greens seemed really small but they were in really good condition, and not terribly priced. Playing on a Sunday evening at 6:30 was beautiful with the sunset. Especially loved the par 3's - they were challenging, different lengths, and had great looks! read more

Chaska Town Course has a big reputation in the twin cities and today it didn't live up to the hype. Interesting layout, with two very distinct nines. The back having several holes in a low wetland. My main concern is this is not a 100.00 round of golf. The greens were not in good shape, understand it gets a great deal of play... I would go back and pay 60.00, but won't be back at 100. read more

I went to the driving range on a Sunday morning, and it was pretty sweet. A bucket of balls costs like $10, but the range was nicely kept, and it wasn't too busy. The clubhouse and bar inside seemed pretty cool too. Plenty of parking. read more

Being in downtown Minneapolis almost any course is within easy reach and after a couple of recent rounds Chaska will be the go to. It's a bit expensive for a weekend round but worth the extra $. Much better layout than Rush Creek or Edinborough. The course is in fantastic shape and is a great test. I've played the green/black combo tees and at 6500+ yds it is a very good challenge. Good par 3s and some long par 4s. Friendly staff and a nice home town feel - always lots of junior golfers around. read more

First time playing Chaska town course and might be my last. Course was just ok. It's super open and not that difficult. Greens were in ok shape and on a year where every course looks great that isn't saying much. At the start we were paired with two clowns that didn't make our day very much fun. Came out for our anniversary and had to deal with BS all day from the randoms we were paired with. Rangers hounding every other hole when things were stacked 3 deep so you could hurry if you wanted to. Took 5 1/2 hours to get 18 in. I guess the Rangers had friends holding things up so they hounded everyone but the ppl playing at a turtles pace. Prices are heavy for what you get. Not the best course in the area so I'm jot sure why the hype. It was just ok! However, the hot dogs were amazing so that is one plus. read more

A very nice par 30 executive course. Two doglegs present good challenges. Greens maintained extremely well with some tricky slopes. Course designed well - except that I would prefer some wooded areas here and there in the center. On duty staff very friendly and helpful. Overall a very pleasant outing. Recommended. read more

Surprised that Chaska has yet to fall on the yelp radar... any golfer within the twin cities area must make the trek out to Chaska to play this beautiful track! After moving to the Twin Cities and realize the $ involved in the game... my rounds have been limited to the muni courses around Minneapolis. However take one round out here and you wont go back. The fees are around $60 cart+greens fees on weekends... (1) WELL worth it (2) they have some great deals offered on their webpage, facebook, twitter, and a free round your b-day month (thanks July!). The course is in better shape than many private courses I've seen for a while. It is a challenging course with some tight pin locations, however pretty forgiving to the beginner as well. with open fairways and a variety of tees to play from. We had a work event out here for 36 holes saturday... amazing. The staff was absolutely fantastic!!! The carts had a live leaderboard, the technology of the yardage system is pretty sweet, telling you not only how far to various pin placements, but has a touch screen to offer distances to various trouble spots on the hole. Charlies grille has some great food too! I'll be back in a few weekends, just can't wait! read more

Fantastic course. Some very beautiful holes with a nice variety of layout. Awful rude ranger staff. You'll be hassled by a ranger at least 5 times when you play here. Even when you keep up with the group ahead of you, it still doesn't matter. They really do ruin what should be a very enjoyable round. read more

I guess I just don't get why it's often ranked as one of the state's best public courses. Everything was perfectly fine. The shape of the course was pretty good, not great. The rough was incredibly long and the place was covered in grass clippings. We struggled to find any ball that wasn't in the fairway. The staff was fine, although we only saw the cart girl once. The greens had just been spiked, so we got 30% off, which sounds great, until you realize it's still $70. I can't even imagine playing a such an average track and paying the full price, though. read more

Great course. Staff: five stars. Very helpful, friendly and efficient. Jerry at the starting box has all the jokes to start your round right. Cart girls were on the spot with beverages at all the right times. Condition: five stars. Beautifully kept course. Never a bad shot from the fairway. Some goose turds around the greens on the backside, but we share the world, so we deal with it. Layout: four stars. Golf with someone that has been here before. The gps golf carts help with distances, but it's still not easy to judge how a shot will fit this course with all of it's carries over water and hills and gullies. Pace of play: four and a half stars. We had a couple of assholes hit into us on a short par four, but they got a passive aggressive hand wave. Players in front didn't dilly dally, which was nice. read more

Chaska Town Course has many positives. The kitchen and pro shop staff are great. The food is very good. The course is in great shape and challenging for a public course. Downside. I golfed there twice in the last 3 weeks. The first round as a foursome we were asked to pick up the pace. We were quite surprised because we were under the posted 2 hour 10 minute 9 hole pace. Later on that round the ranger apologized for misunderstanding our start time. Well enough we thought, but please get your data right. Today, in 18 holes our threesome was approached by two different rangers for a total of 3 times. The first two times in talking to them they again realized with our information that they were wrong. We finished the first nine 5 minutes under the posted pace and that was one of the ranger visits telling us we were 3 minutes tardy. Only three minutes, in his mind mentioned an admonishment AND he was inaccurate! We finished the 18 holes in exactly 4 hours. The harassment took the fun out of the round. This is a public course, far from a PGA level! We aren't great golfers but I can't imagine what slower golfers would feel like. I have no interest in returning to Chaska Town Course because of these two experiences. The pro shop manager on today told us he would feel the same way. Hopefully they will help their rangers work with accurate information. read more
