Dr. Kellowski, nursing staff and technician were wonderful. It's a really nice new addition to the INOVA Medical Buildings.

Do not use if you do not have insurance. ER charge is $2,200 and ER Dr charge is $1,200. This is not counting labs, medicines, or tests.

They get you back rather fast but on the weekends I don't think they have more than one or two actual MDs working and only a handful of nurses and techs.

However, post visit, it's been a nightmare because they coded my visit wrong and my insurance won't pay for my visit. Their Observation unit has a network PREVENTING patients from using their phone. OVerall, the hospital needs more adequate staffing levels on some floors. This is extremely problematic and life threatening. Some of their nurses, especially young nurses, have not had enough training in how to speak with the elderly in order to not upset them. And I perpetually see their nurses in some units engaged in discussions having nothing to do with the work at hand or their patients. I am very impressed with their hospitalists, who work very hard. I am most impressed with their infectious diseases physicians and nephrologists. The cafeteria SHOULD be open PAST 2PM, especially in deference to their doctors. This is ESSENTIAL, given surgeries are performed by many doctors there. For a doctor to have to BRING THEIR LUNCH, it is utterly rediculous. Reston Hospital FAR EXCEEDS Inova Loudoun in that regard. Inova Loudon's Physical therapists are FAST to recommend nursing homes, w/out realizing the patients are often on medicines tiring them and making it tough to do therapy at the precise moment a PT comes in. I found the whole PT scenario rediculous and usually a labeling activity to send the elderly or other challenged patients to nursing homes.

Before I could fully explain what I was experiencing, I was cut off and told that they "could not give medical advice over the phone" and that I should either come in or call an ambulance. While I understand there may be limitations on providing medical advice, the delivery of this response felt dismissive and lacked empathy. Calling Labor & Delivery can already be a stressful experience, especially when you are unsure about what your body is doing. In that moment, I wasn't necessarily looking for full medical advice--I was seeking basic guidance, reassurance, and the opportunity to explain my symptoms without being interrupted. I had already came in at 33 weeks for similar symptoms and was sent home and told call or come back if needed, so I started with calling. A more patient, supportive, and attentive approach would make a significant difference for expecting mothers who are trying to make informed decisions about their care. Even within policy limitations, tone and communication matter. I hope this feedback encourages improvements in how calls are handled, so future patients feel heard and supported during such an important and vulnerable time.

I went to the recovery room after the surgery woke up in pain and the staff provided pain meds. Shortly ZI was brought up to my room. The day nurse started the process for my blood infusion. They did not do the same verification process that was done for earlier transfusions. The nurse did not stay in the room to check for any potential reaction. Layer she came in and said it was done snd disconnected it. At shift changeover an hour later, the night nurse noticed the blood bag was not completed. The night nurse confronted the day nurse about it. (in front of me) The night nurse decided to reconnect the blood to my IV. no alcohol swab was noticed bring used on the connections snd I was not sure if the blood bag had been hanging there for an hour if it was still OK. I was not consulted or asked. I clearly see the lack of effective communication between doctors, nurses, technicians, staff and the patients. There is a dry erase board in the room to ensure important info is passed and noted. NOT BEING USED. It is not kept up to date with progress, plans or goals. Even the doctors names are wrong. It appears that the patient is not included in the process and communication between the staff does not happen. No one has the complete picture of the planned care, for now or future. They need help with cross communication and statistical documenting patient progress. The care is good, but the patient has to be involved to make sure there is s complete picture. If you come here (Stone Springs Hospital) for services, you must stay engaged for your own good!!!

The system asked me to fill out all of my information, including my insurance and credit card details, which I completed through the portal. I joined the virtual waiting room and waited about 20 minutes, but I had to step away, so I canceled and made another appointment for 2:30 PM. I joined the waiting room again and waited until 2:46 PM, then called the office to ask how much longer it would be. At that point, the receptionist asked me to verify my insurance and said they could not see it, even though I had already submitted it through the portal. That was very frustrating. Then they said they could not find my file at all. My issue is not even about paying out of pocket. I had already provided my card information and was willing to pay if needed. The problem was the poor communication and disorganized process. If there was an issue with my insurance or file, someone should have contacted me instead of leaving me sitting in the virtual waiting room with no update. This whole experience was ridiculous and added more stress when I was already not feeling well.

I've suffered from a combination of Severe Anxiety with Panic Disorder, Associated Depression, and PTSD since I was 10; I've tried nearly every medicine on the market and nothing has been able to really improve my quality of life. I'm a mom of three with an intense career and going through a brutal custody battle, which has made it so much worse. It's $500 per infusion but I'm using my healthcare FSA and plan to pursue reimbursement from United Heathcare as well. The office is calm and lovely with no wait. My first session, the nurse (Angie?) was an IV needle ninja and reminded me of a Chinese Ping Pong Olympic match but with the fastest, easiest IV placement I've ever seen. The team was so thorough even though I was SO nervous about the dissociative experiences I had read about. They preventatively gave me Zofran for nausea and Versed for anxiety; I had a super comfy chair and crazy soft blanket I really want to buy for my house; and while the experience was VERY WEIRD, it wasn't unpleasant but felt very healing. Having read about music and the role in the treatment I played the Lord of the Rings soundtrack with the ups and downs and it was bizarre how it guided me through processing both my good memories and feelings and bad, but sort of helped me feel like I could overcome (a la Aragorn?). Highly recommend something like that to listen to. In a very weird trippy way I could FEEL the mental healing and I really mean that even in my now clear headed state. It's amazing, truly. My appointment was at 11:00-11:45, groggy feeling passed by around 12:15, by the time I was home just around 1 I had no problem getting back to work "fully there". My boyfriend was SHOCKED because he noticed a difference immediately. That's from one infusion. It's incredible and I can't believe it. Looking forward to tomorrow's and on Thursday!
