I have unfortunately been with Broadlands Family Practice for over 15 years and have never been happy. Finding a Doctor or Doctors that genuinely care about a patients health seems like a lost "art". I just felt that I should just stay with them since I couldn't do any worst. My last straw was when I began menopause and rather than do blood work to confirm it, they instantly handed over an antidepressant medication (even though they know I do not take medication unless it's the last thing that would save me from dying). I have never felt heard or respected in my wishes to limit the toxins that go into my body. read more

No appointments and no treatment is totally unacceptable. I have never been more disappointed with a practice. Twice this year I required an appointment for simple infections but ones that required an antibiotic. I couldn't get an appoint online or over the phone. How is this acceptable? 9 months ago I had to go to CVS minute clinic to be seen, and today I had to go to urgent care. When I was seen by a doctor two years ago my appointments were fine but not stellar. They were not able to solve my problems then either. Their addition to Inova has made everything much worse. Several years ago I was seen y Dr. Cohn and only stopped due to a company move to Elizabethtown, KY. I have never found a doctor who I have respected more than Dr. Cohn and after all these years and after seeing many doctors he is one that I would fly back to Virgina to see if I could afford the airfare or take the time off of work to make the ten-hour drive. We've been going to Broadlands family for years...all 9 of us and since the Inova acquisition things have turned way south. 2 extremely negative experiences over the last 3 weeks have caused us to look for alternate care. They just dont care. I've spoken to the office manager twice and she offers no solutions. Run far far away, it's not worth it. I have seen a noticeable change in care since the merge with INOVA. Has anyone else? For years we had a primary care physician and their supporting nurse. Since the merge with INOVA - the care has become teamed. Yes, that bother's me - I felt comfortable with my intimate team of two. On occasion I would need to see another PCP or NP. I've been on the phone for 15 minutes trying to call them and they still haven't answered. I usually just end up calling the Brambleton location and have them put me on for an appointment at the Ashburn location. I've been going to see doctors at this practice for over 10 years, and I am so glad to finally be switching practices. Even before COVID hit, it was impossible to get a straight answer when you called, and now it's impossible to even get through to speak to anyone. I was calling about an urgent matter to re-up a prescription and I have yet to hear from anyone for over a week. I've been calling every day with 45 minutes (mostly more) on hold with no way to leave a message. I understand it's tough to get back to the new normal of things, but the fact that I was told this would be taken care of a week ago, it's become more of an inconvenience and difficult considering I haven't had the daily meds I need for over a week. I wouldn't recommend this practice to anyone at this time. read more

Update: Monday night after I called Broadlands Family Practice during the day to explain that I was still in pain and was awaiting follow-up instructions (a week after my initial visit), my pain became so severe that I ended up in the Emergency Room for over 5 hours. I still haven't heard from my provider, but I will not be going back. I've had a few disappointing visits at this practice since I've started being seen there, but I will focus on my most recent. I visited Broadlands Family Practice a week ago for flank pain that had become so intense it was preventing me from working or functioning some days. NP took a urine sample sample, found some blood, and due to my history of kidney stones sent me for imaging. On her way out she said something about how uncomfortable I seemed and that she was sorry. Unfortunately her apology didn't help with my pain. Urine results and the ultrasound results were posted on the patient portal, but never the x-ray. No one contacted me to discuss the results with me or what I should do next, despite the ultrasound indicating that I most likely did have a kidney stone. A week later (after hearing from no one), I call to explain that I'm still in pain and I'm wondering why no one has contacted me about a follow-up. The receptionist asks if I've checked the patient portal (I explain that I have) and suggests that I call Loudoun imaging to ask why my doctor's office doesn't have my x-rays. She doesn't ask if I want to speak to a nurse or my provider and ends the call with "ok?". This is the worst quality of care I have ever had. I will be finding a new practitioner, and I'll be sure to let people know how little the providers at this practice actually care about the patients. I talked with Loudoun imaging and someone told me they would personally deliver the scans earlier today. It's after 5 PM now and I've heard nothing from my provider. This is outrageous. read more

My family has had wonderful interactions with Dr. Rodriguez, and most of the doctors I have met with have been professional and have had good bedside manner. However, I have not enjoyed working with reception and have had a very difficult time communicating with this office and making sure my records are up to date and my prescriptions are being filled. When I asked them to send basic information to new provider, it took much longer than expected and will result in a delay in when I can pick up my prescription. Needless to say, the communication and management of this office has left a lot to be desired. read more

I've been going here for about 3 years. I'm extremely disappointed in my last few visits. Especially if you end up having to see a NP. The overall quality of patient care and concern for the patients well being is horrible. When your at an appointment the provider barely makes eye contact, they are always on their laptops entering in data. Charting seems more important than the actual patient. They cut you off and don't completely listen to what you have to say. The nurses are rude and if you need anything from them good luck. The provider never calls back with lab results or explains them to you. The office does not want to provide you with any documentation or records if you need them. They always refer you to their online system which is never updated with your records. I'm not going back to this facility ever again. I'm shocked they get away with running their practice like this. read more

I came to the office with some real concerns then I asked her what I could supplement for water because it was is the nastiest shit ever and instantly gives me heartburn. And she scolded me for saying shit. 2 adults in one room together and I'm paying my bill. I wish she would have been more in tune to my medical needs. She was doing the same thing the minute clinic did for me. They are the ones that told me I needed a internal medicine dr. It's a shame doctors don't care about patients anymore. What is the world coming to?!?! I used to review new restaurant openings or the cool downtown bar everyone is swooning over. Now? I pay good money to folks so they can poke me, prod me and make sure I don't jump at the smack of a latex glove being put on. Getting old sucks. Thankfully, I'm allowed to keep a modicum of dignity when I come here. Honestly, this office is too good to be true. It's across the street from my house. The doctors are board certified ass kickers. The nurses and staff aren't far behind. And (gasp!) everyone seems to be on schedule and keep their appointments. It's almost like they treat you like a human being or something. OK, enough with the tomfoolery. Being (ahem) older, I've been to my share of doctors offices through the years. This ranks at the top. Dr. Cohn, my primary care physician, is five star gold. He listens. He educates (often times he even sketches out diagrams). He explains your options. And he believes in making sure you're on board with the program. In other words, he kicks ass (see above). I've had plenty of doctors in the past who had the personality and beside manner of a used tongue depressor. I'm thankful I finally found a doctor I actually don't mind visiting. If you're in the area and are looking for a good practice, make sure to check them out. read more

Doctors are always a pain in the ass. They're either late, don't remember anything about you, mess up your paperwork or some combination of all three. Every time I leave this office I often say to myself "I actually like my doctor." Things they do right: -Always on time (within 10 min) -Paperless prescriptions -Appointments are relatively easy to get -Office staff are polite -Printout of your "health status" with every visit (bp, bmi, cholesterol, etc) Things I like about Dr Cohn: -Remembers who I am -Knows pertinent medical history w/o referring to my chart (in front of me) -Explains/discusses things like a human being instead of a robot In a society where we all feel like a number, it's nice to have a health care provider who is practical and efficient but still seems to care. Even if it's all a bunch of crap and they're faking, I don't care. I just want to feel important and they succeed at that. read more

I absolutely love this place. The office building is nice and spacious and the office staff is so nice. Everyone is great from the receptionists to the nurses, to the doctors. The examination rooms are impeccable and the nurses are really nice and do a good job making you feel comfortable. I love that if you make an appointment, you will be seen at that time and there is little to no wait. The doctor I go to is amazing. She is so nice and does a good job creating an open environment. I feel like I can ask and tell her anything. I recommend this place to everyone. It's the best doctors office I've ever been to! read more

Disappointing. I am not going to ask you to not to go to this place. It is for you to decide. But here is my experience. - I had been having a fever for one week. - Did a walk-in appointment. A nurse practitioner saw me, could not see anything wrong and had a blood test done. - Nurse Practitioner told me the results will be ready next day. I waited for 2 days and called the office. They tell me that blood tests take 5 to 7 business days. (Somewhat pissed) - Once my blood test results are back, I get to speak to the admin. Not a doctor, not a nurse practitioner but the admin. Admin tells me what has been suggested. - I point out that there are two issues with my blood tests. But there is a solution provided for only one of the issues. What about the other issue? - Admin said that the Nurse Practitioner is out of office and that she will connect with her and get back to me next day. - Admin comes back next day with a referral. I don't understand the referral and it seems like they are just pushing the ball forward. I remind the admin that the nurse practitioner missed this diagnosis and that I think I should be seeing a Doctor as the Nurse Practitioner seems to be clueless. - Admin takes offense to me calling the Nurse Practitioner clueless. I apologize but then ask her how did the Nurse Practitioner missed my diagnosis. And why I had to remind her. - The Admin, frustrated by me, brings the Manager Admin on the phone. - I tell Manager Admin the scenario, but the Manager Admin is in no mood to listen to me. The Manager Admin ends with this sentence: "It seems like you are not happy with our practice, so you should go to someplace else" I hang up. The only thing going for this place is that they are the only primary care practice that is at a convenient location for Brambleton residents. I hope with the new retail space coming up we get new doctors and new practices. UPDATED: Adding more information since the representative of Broadlands Family Practice left a comment here. I already contacted Customer Service the day I posted this review and I got this response - "Thank you for reaching out in this matter. We would be happy to assist you. I rarely write reviews, but in this instance I feel that it is important to do so, especially when reading all the negative reviews about the care given at the Ashburn Broadlands Family Practice. I have been bringing my aged mother to see Dr. Mary Reynard there for many years. In all that time, Dr. Reynard has been kind, friendly, attentive, and concerned when treating my mother who has Alzheimer's disease. As she has progressed, Dr. Reynard has always provided us with clear and concise information about treatment plans, prescriptions issued, homecare help, and hospice information. She has not only cared about my mother, but has been concerned about me as her caregiver, as well. Her patience when answering all our questions, and especially her kindness towards my mother, has been so very welcome! I truly believe that my mother has flourished under Dr. Reynard's expert care and that Mom is still with me today due to her expert knowledge and professionalism. Thank you, Dr. Reynard, for all that you have done to extend my Mom's life and give me the support I've needed during the journey. Made a new patient appointment, filled out forms, called ins company, asked previous doctor to send records, etc. The day before the appointment Broadlands cancelled abruptly because they don't like to take new patients after lunch. Steer clear of the walk in clinic, they are awful and make you feel worse than you already do. First off they charge a ridiculous "urgent care" charge and then they never have an actual MD working it. It's always either a NP or a PA. Now when someone chooses to go to the walk in clinic early in the morning it usually means you are pretty sick and have had a rough night. I think I had the flu, high temperatures, coughing, congestion, headache, nausea, sore throat, and the works. As soon as I enter I grab a mask to make sure I keep my exposure of others to a minimum. The front desk ladies were kind and quick and I was taken back. The nurse who took me back was nice as well. However when I took off my mask for her to swab me for the flu she said "I don't really care if you have the mask on or not but make sure you keep it for the NP b cause they are very particular when the patient is contagious." Hmmmm..... I looked at her and said then why have they chosen this profession? Anyways, then comes in the NP or PA, I will not name any names but she was awful. She treated me like I had leprosy and was untouchable. She spent less than 3 mins in the room with me wouldn't let me finish a sentence and ran out to wait for the test results. She came back telling me that my rapid flu test was negative (these tests can often produce false negative results). So I asked for an antiviral because I have asthma and other issues that puts me in a higher risk category, she said no, since your rapid flu test was negative we can't do anything. I asked her to check my sinuses because my one side was swollen and hurting and she said it uncommon for a bacteria infection to develop this soon and to come back or call the office after a few days. Seriously?!? She ran out again! Oh and this isn't the first time I went once before and someone at that office did the same thing. Listen I get it if you don't want to be exposed to a contagion then DONT go into this line of work. I mean it's ridiculous the lack of patient care and the way they make you feel is awful. read more

This is a honest review. I really have only been to doctor if I have been really sick and need to be seen. My husband has gone for physicals, etc. I recently went in because I had a terrible sore throat and bad cough with wheezing. They did a throat culture no strep and sent me home. The next day I ended up going to Patient First because I still felt like something was wrong. They did some test had me on the nebulizer for my cough. Sent me home with a inhaler and cough medicine and antibiotics said I had bronchitis. I started feeling better quickly after the inhaler they gave me at Patient First. I get a call couple days later from broadland family with some information about my lab work. The nurse I felt was rushing me basically said I am submitting antibiotics in....and that was it. I had to call back twice to talk to the nurse for more information. I ended up just calling Patient first who explained my lab work or the details and said the antibiotic I am on fine. What I learned - Patient first (an walk in clinic) took a better assessment and throughly explained everything over my own doctor of choice. Time to find a new office. read more

While there are certainly quality doctors in this practice, it has become more like an urgent care facility than a personalized practice. Both the Ashburn and Brambleton offices are oversubscribed; expect to see a different doctor or nurse practitioner every visit--unless you are willing to wait four to eight weeks for the physician of your choice. The problem is, when you need medical care, you usually can't wait days, much less weeks or months. Most critically, it is impossible to foster, much less maintain, a doctor-patient relationship without consistency of care. Frustratingly, after over a decade of our family using this practice, we must go elsewhere for timely, attentive medical care. read more

I am so annoyed with Broadlands Family Practice- Brambleton location. I have a upper arm swelling and went to see them twice for it, the second time they sent me to get an ultrasound and the results came back as nothing. I can barely move my arm and it hurts-- they recommend me going to see a dermatologist. My question is would a dermatologist help? I asked the nurse a few times how would a dermatologist help and she couldn't give me an answer. read more

I like Dr. Rodriguez, but I'm having some problems with the practice. I recently switched health insurance because I got a new job. One of the prescriptions I take, which comes in many different forms from different manufacturers, was declined. The insurance company recommended two other brands of the same medication from different manufacturers. My pharmacy faxed this information to Broadlands Family Practice. Instead of just having Dr. Rodriguez write a prescription from one of the other brands of the same drug, the woman that handles this decided to put it through like a prior authorization. Because she didn't mark it urgent, my insurance company put it on a 15 business holding period. I didn't know this until I called the Dr's office, and then the insurance company. When I called the Dr.s office and spoke to the woman who did the prior authorization, I asked her if she could just have Dr. Rodriguez write a prescription for one of the brands that the insurance company said they would pay for. She told me that because the drug was so highly regulated, any brand of that drug would require a prior authorization. After 15 business days went by, the insurance company still wouldn't pay for the drug. The doctor's office called me and I told them to please have Dr. Rodriguez write a prescription for one of the prescriptions that the insurance company would pay for, like I had asked before. I said I needed it immediately, because at this point I was out of the medication and had skipped several doses. This woman actually told me the same thing, that no matter what prescription the doctor sent in, it would require a prior authorization because the drug was so highly regulated. I told her at this point to do it anyway because she was probably wrong, and that I used a narcotic patch which was more highly regulated than the other drug, and they paid for that no problem. She had the doctor call the prescription in to my pharmacy and it went right through. I was pretty furious, and I plan on complaining the next time I see the doctor. With this incident, and the fact that even if I am the first appointment of the morning, no matter what doctor I see they are always running late, and I wind up spending well over an hour just waiting in the office every single time, I can't give this practice more than 2 stars at this time. I will redo my review should their service improve at a later date. At least they have accurately diagnosed me every time I've been there. read more

Dr. Rodriguez is my primary, and he is great, and so easy to talk to. I've seen a couple of other doctors here as well, and they seem to have the same approach and philosophy. I really like visiting this office (and that's usually an odd statement for a Dr's office). It's modern, up to date and very well managed. I've sent at least 3 friends here who were impressed. I chose this practice because of a recommendation by a friend. Last, I know two co workers that visit BFP and are fans. read more

Dr. Rodriguez is always patient and never seems rushed to get to someone else. he explains things on an understandable level without being patronizing, and when working with my son, always makes sure The Boy understands what's being done, why, and what good will come of it. the staff is professional, friendly, efficient and you can rely on them to call in prescriptions, correctly book appointments, and find your info without a huge hassle. would never change from this practice- they are spectacular physicians and supportive of the neighborhood as well. read more
