How lucky was I to find this store and connect with Ron Churchhill. After a global wide search for a Guild Starfire II bass I found a "new old stock" one at Innovations Music. Absolutely pristine and unplayed. Ron gave me the fairest deal and it shipped beautifully and safely packed. It sailed through Customs to California, arriving with a fresh set of Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats and completely set up and ready to play. 100% as described. It's been my go-to since it arrived. I would have written this review months ago, but I just could not put the bass down long enough. Tremendous value, service and quality. read more

Innovations Music - Guiild Starfire II - Musical Instruments & Teachers Near Me - St Albert, Alberta

Overall, friendly folks. Retail location with retail prices. You're not going to find the best deal for trades or consignment but their new guitars are often quite nice and the staff are pretty friendly and helpful. Local, with local owners rather than your typical L&M. read more

Popped in here to take a look at one of my favorite brands of amplifiers ( BLACKSTAR!!) and was welcomed by a very knowledgeable dude aka Tayler, who took me through basically everything I needed to know about the product and others to consider for the tone I was searching for. They have a large collection of musical gear and audio equipment, also offering rentals which is huge these days. I was also informed that they offer classes for various instruments for students of all ages. Very cool vibes love this place read more

I've been playing guitar for most of my life and my family is also interested in music. We've bought Guitars and our Roland digital piano here and always have had excellent service from the sales staff. We've shopped at both locations and really happy with prices and quality of product. My son Even bought an acoustic guitar, took it home and decided he wanted one with a pickup so he returned it and bought a different one. I really like the guitar tech at south stor, I think his name is Colten. He's so knowledgeable and down to earth. I highly recommend Innovations a music. read more

Long story short - I chose to support this small business during COVID and got burned... I am trying to support small businesses more and more as the pandemic drags on making it more difficult for them to survive. Rather than ordering from a larger chain like Long and McQuade (still a fantastic store), I came across Innovations Music, and they had just what I was looking for. I ordered and received a Roland KD-10 kick pad from them a couple of weeks ago, and to my displeasure, I found that the KD-10 I received was in used condition - whether it had been used by a customer and returned, or it was a used floor model, I do not know. However, when I placed the order, nowhere did it mention that this was a previously used item, nor was it discounted to reflect its condition. I paid full price and expected to receive a brand-new item. There was some paint missing where it was hooked up to the pedal, there were still PIECES OF CARPET stuck to the velcro, etc. Additionally, a felt beater was clearly used on it (white powder was present on the head), which should never be used on these types of pads - it is the reason my last one was destroyed (I found out the hard way). Given the situation, I chose not to use the product at the time and reached out to the sales team via email (with pictures attached) to see what my options were. After a week with no response from them, I sent a follow-up email, thinking perhaps my first email had just slipped through the cracks. It has been two weeks and there has been no acknowledgment of my emails. VERY poor customer service. I do not recommend ordering from Innovations Music. read more

See all

We bought my son an electric guitar and an amp so he could start lessons and the service staff was excellent. He didn't really know what he wanted but the selection was great and the man who helped us was polite and knowledgable and not at all pushy like some other music stores we had been to. The prices were competitive with the other stores. we will be back for sure. read more

dont ever buy stuff online. They sell items they dont have in stock so you are going to waste your time here. read more

I'm updating my review to 4 stars for Innovations after coming here a handful of times over the last year. Innovations is great if you are looking for a large selection of guitar strings, picks, and accessories. Their prices are on par with comparable stores in Edmonton. Their selection of piano instructional books is second to none. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable with no pressure sales. I will keep coming here for my musical needs and advise anybody who lives in the greater St. Albert area to do the same. read more

Absolutely atrocious service. Terrible selection, way overpriced, rude, unknowledgeable, and will not own up for their mistakes. In fact if you are having warranty issues they use that opportunity to charge you more. I will go to long and Mcquade long before I go back here. read more

I have done business here a handful of times. I'm mixed on my review because of an incident that happened a while back. I needed a music book and asked an employee for help. They found the title and I assumed I had the correct book. Got home and realized they sold me a theory book and I needed a song book instead. I took the book back and understandably they have a no refund policy on music books. The employee said they had to call the manager to get approval. A day or so later they called me to say that the manager would not exchange the book. Well, I don't know much about music and am just learning so reluctantly bought the correct book from them and kept the one they wouldn't take back, even though they helped me find this book in store. I look on Amazon nowadays to find what I need in the book department. The staff here are generally friendly and helpful. They are only doing what they are told from the manager, so I don't blame them for anything. I've had my kids take music lessons at their college which is located upstairs. That's a review on its own! read more

Actually, Innovations Music Stoer in St. Albert, is a go to store for separate small items. Over the years Ive purchased many, many items from harmonicas, books, strings, straps, tuners, capos, metronome. cases, stands, rental PA & lighting, lapel pins, you name it..."the accessories". Ive even tried some of their guitars, which lead me only to track down and purchase these guitars on line or even used. Over the years, Ive made "Instrument purchases at the "Big Guns", whom I won't list here. Last weekend I was in Innovations Music, and dropped off my Gibson SG Tribute for a set up, and that guitar was done "RIGHT"!!! While in the store, I tried out some acoustics, and Ive fallen in love with a semi-pro guitar which is VERY SPECIAL. Im heading back to "IM" after this review to make some kind of deal on it. Funny thing is, Stan, (Manager ??) claims that they have and will beat ANY price on the same instrument in the Province of Alberta. Well Ive being getting kinda horny for a Hollow body cutaway arch top, and even though the guitars IM handles, which are defiantly "Intermediate + level" instruments, WITH BETTER PRICES than most of the competitors, for the most part they have some SLEEPERS there. It's one of those sleepers, that I'm heading to go acquire right now, and it's about time too. I mean after all, Stan & IM have kept me going (for years), and Now its time to oblige them with one of their guitars. Great store, good prices, Friendly knowledgeable staff, who are ready to help, and its easy to get lost in their store. They opened a branch on the far south side of Edmonton about 2-3 years ago, and while they are WAY BIGGER, with WAY more items to purchase, Im not quite as "comfortable" there as I am in the St. Albert branch. This "chain of stores" really does have some nice equipment, but i feel MORE at ease in these 2 stores than I do in the "other"Big Guns stores. To me, it seems that the Competitors are more interested your money, than i feel at Innovations Music in St. Albert. I totally recommend IM. Even if you already have an axe or four, IM will let you have some "NO PRESSURE" time to browse...Heck!!! Ive been heading there over the past years just for the accessories. Who would've known that I'd finally be buying another guitar? Rob read more
