This place has a…read moregreat selection of quality Canadian made guitars at really great prices, as well as the usual Yamaha, Ibanez, etc. The owner (Al) was on the phone when I came in, but he acknowledged me and let me know he would be right with me. As soon as he was done, he came and showed me some guitars, let me try them out, gave me some advice, and then gave me some space to think about it. He was the perfect amount of helpful without pressuring me. They also have electric guitars, keyboards, and all sorts of recording equipment. I have had such mediocre experiences with the chain music stores lately, I'm glad this local business is still around. I did some quick googling, and the prices are very competitive with the bigger stores too. All in all, a very positive and informative visit. I think I've found the guitar I want! I highly recommend checking them out.

Service was alright although I did not know that buying a new guitar…read moremeant you actually get the demo model or the one hanging on the wall everyone was playing with but I guess that's fine they did restring it free so all is good. My problem with the place is with the music school. I signed up for five private lessons. On the 4th, I had to call in sick 5 hours prior. End of the month I found out that it was a missed appointment and I would not receive any more until I paid up for another month. I didn't like this. If you're sick then you'd still better go or you'll lose $60. After some back and forth, they did finally offer the lesson but by then I was not interested and did forfeit the lesson. Don't pay 1 month in advance. Besides that, you may not like the instructor.

We bought an antique Adolf Minnig violin made in Switzerland (1945) from Bella Music on April 4,…read more2015. My son made this choice after Jim Doucet set out about 8 violins for him to try. He was very patient and made sure he knew our price range before we began the violin selection process. Jim never tries to sell you anything you don't need. My son is in his 5th year of Suzuki Violin and didn't need the $400 bow Jim let him use as he tried out the violins. We got a carbon fibre bow instead. We also left our antique French 3/4 violin with him to glue together - there was a gap. Luckily, there wasn't any other major work to be done on it. Jim said this French violin was setup very well and the pegs were still good. Again, he doesn't try to sell you stuff you don't need. He also explained to us what he was looking for as he inspected the antique French violin. I've recommended Bella Music to the other parents in Saskatoon Suzuki Strings

They have an acoustic room which I much prefer in being able to sit down and play quietly and look at all the options. Recently brought our 9 year old here after Christmas to pick out her first guitar of her own. She found a fabulous bright coraly-pink acoustic that came with a case on sale for under $200 and surprisingly sounded great. Hubs picked up a Merlin (related to dulcimer) which he as been wanting to get. Total transaction was less than $400 which if you play guitars, know is a freaking miracle. Opted for the additional year of insurance on both for $5, why not? What keeps them from a 5 star? Well, we had to wait to find someone to help us a couple times and really, couldn't you let my daughter pick out a couple 50 cent neon pink picks for free when we're buying two instruments? See you soon Long & McQuade. I'm sure you'll be emptying our bank account again in no time ;-)
