The other time I was with a bachelorette party and I don't remember who I was scheduled with, but she was also great. I had a signature facial with Katie and I have to say it was the worst by far I have ever had. She never examined my skin, asked about any sensitivities (which I have none but still). She never used the magnifying light to really look at my skin. It was supposed to be an hour facial she was done in 40 minutes at that point I just wanted to get out of there. There was no personalization, she never told me what she was doing or using it was like she was just going through the motions actually really never said a word to me. There was no shoulder massage or any sort of massage which I had really been looking forward to. Since the facial my skin around my mouth and nose and cheek bones have been dry, peeling , and very itchy. I have had facials in the past at other places and have always enjoyed them and had a great experience. I think I am now turned off of them for a while anyway after this one. I had a gift card which I still have money left on, threw it in my recycling bin as I am never going back again. I am actually kinda annoyed at myself for giving her tip. I would also like to say I have never given a review on Yelp before but I hope this helps someone not to have the same experience I did. read more

I had another salon give me a cut, then i wasn't right I went back to them and they only made it worst. FINALLY I CALLED RENEE AT INNOVATIONS SALON, she did a great job fixing the mistakes made by the other (Garbo's Salon on SU hill) place. She does great work with short cuts and the price was LESS than at Garbo's too! Plus she helped me get in quickly during busy holiday time! Yeah! I'm definitely a repeat customer! Only heads up is to come with cash for tip, I didn't know and they don't let you add it on to debit/credit card payments. read more

The BEST place to go for a massage! I always leave relaxed and rejuvenated. The whole staff always treats you with class and professionalism. From the person who answers your calls at the desk to the pedicurist they are all professional and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and welcome! Today I had my first, and last visit to Innovations. I made an appointment to have a manicure. I arrived about 5 minutes before my scheduled time. I walked up to the reception desk, told her my name and what I was there for. She said "go have a seat in the waiting room." No greeting, no direction as to which room was the waiting room. So I took a seat and waited. Heard all about how "someone has no clue about corporate". Felt odd hearing an employee dis another employee within ear shot of customers. But, I waited. And waited. No one came over to say "Gosh, we're running a bit behind today" or to say anything for that matter. After waiting for 20 minutes, I walked out. If this is the way you treat a first time customer, there won't be very many of them. read more

My review is multi parted. Let me begin by saying Julie was AWESOME! She did both my trial and my actual updo for my wedding. I could not have been happier to have worked with her -- she was so attentive to my ideas and gave me exactly what I wanted. You should definitely go to her. Now, for the reasoning behind my 1 star review: I have never worked with a management team less professional than I did with Innovations. I made my hair appointment more than six months before my actual wedding. Six of my bridesmaids made theirs at the same time. They all called separately and scheduled their appointments for an updo. FOUR DAYS before the wedding Innovations decided to call me and let me know that there is an "issue" with scheduling for my bridesmaids. I inquired about what the problem was, considering these appointments had been over six months prior. I was told that because myself and my bridesmaids did not have a "bridal contract" that our appointments were "not set in stone" and at risk of being rescheduled and/or canceled. Never in the entire time of me scheduling my bridal updo, or when any of my bridesmaids scheduled their appointments, were the words "Bridal Contract" even uttered. I asked the front desk person several times how I was supposed to have known about such a contract when it was never mentioned to me that it even existed. After some back and forth I was told that I was simply speaking to a front desk person and not a manager. I requested the manager call me back to discuss the issue. I received a call back from a blocked number. I missed the call because it seemed to not even have rung on my phone. I received a voicemail from Jennifer at Innovations stating she was the manager and she understood there was a dispute about a "Bridal Contract". She told me I was "welcome to email her an attachment of my Bridal Contract" to resolve the dispute. I was given an email address. No call back number. I contacted Jennifer via email right away explaining my concern and how I did not understand why I was being informed of changes in my bridesmaids hair appointments four days before my wedding. I received a call from Jennifer shortly after I sent my email. Jennifer was immediately on the defense to me and interrupted me every single time I attempted to speak and explain my situation. She continued to remind me that simply having an individual appointment with Innovations does not necessarily mean it will occur and that it can be changed or canceled up until the day of because evidently having an individual appointment is the equivalent of being an Untouchable. Upon also letting Jennifer know that the receptionists at Innovations were blatantly rude to each of my bridesmaids when speaking to them over the phone, she dismissed my concern and said that she felt MY bridesmaids were actually being the rude ones. Following this conversation with the "manager" (I'm using this term loosely because of how poorly this establishment is managed) I received an email confirming all of the appointments for my bridesmaids. Mind you, half of the appointments had to be changed to several hours earlier in the day or else they would not be able to be "accommodated". Upon arriving to the salon the day of, everything seemed to have gone smoothly. Up until my sister, my maid of honor, was about to get her updo. Her appointment was scheduled for 9:00am. 9:30am rolled around and she still had not been seen. The woman who she was scheduled with was stationed right near myself. My sister had approached her and told her she was scheduled at 9am with her. This stylist proceeded to tell my sister that she had someone else scheduled next. I took out my phone and displayed the schedule the "manager" had sent me to confirm that she was actually running late to accommodate my sister. Absolute chaotic mess. Long story short -- I DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING TO INNOVATIONS FOR ANY REASON. They are awful and unprofessional. However, I do recommend seeing Julie individually if possible for your hair. Because she was great and the unprofessional nature of the establishment shouldn't be reflected on her. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. Based on my interactions with Jennifer Richardson I'd say she is possibly the worst business owner I have ever come across (and I work in B2B sales). She is highly unprofessional and sets a bad example for her business--- Front desk will mess up your scheduled appointments, give you incorrect information and it causes a lot of time to be wasted. Especially when you're blocking out time at work or just have a busy lifestyle. Come in with a coupon and Innovations will upcharge you as you are sitting in the chair already because front desk isn't trained well enough to sit you with someone who can accept the coupon. I reached out to Jennifer many times regarding my issues and she "took care" of me by pretending to send out gift cards (since I paid an extra $90 than I was supposed to; this was my 4th time in 6 months trying to just get ONE appointment to stick with all of their discombobulation!!!) then saying that the cards must have gotten lost in the mail and refusing to speak with me any further. I have now been told that they will need a non-refundable deposit if I ever want to reschedule in the future.... I know I'm just one person but it's not professional when a local business owner makes you feel small. If you end up making the mistake of going to Innovations, ask for Vanessa Rizzo. She is phenomenal and I only wish I could still use her services without lining the pockets of someone who should've never gotten into a customer oriented industry. read more

I've been coming here for 5 years. Lindsay cuts my hair and she's fabulous! I've never had a bad cut and she's fun to chat with. I come for pedicures once in a while too and have always been pleased with the way they turn out. Sign up for their email list - they have great specials. The building is cute and fairly upscale for CNY. Oh, and bring cash for tips, since you can't leave them on your credit card anymore. read more

I first became a customer in 2015. At least 50% of the time, my appointments would either be messed up or changed at the last minute. I finally left because I'm just too busy to be jerked around like that. Then a few months ago, I returned with a different stylist, thinking it might be different. Nope, this stylist was late twice and then the fourth time, I didn't receive a confirmation of the appointment so I called to check. I was told my daughters didn't have an appointment. I was livid. In the end, it turns out they DID have the appointments but they were on the schedule as one woman's cut instead of two youth so the front desk did not realize. This place is a hot mess. It really needs to get its shit together. I will NOT be back and that's saying a lot since it's challenging to find a good stylist for a pixie haircut like mine. Busy working mom? Stay far away from this place. Your sanity will thank you. read more

I, like so many other people have never written a negative review before. You have an experience, it may not be what you were hoping or expecting, but you suck it up and move on. Too little time in this world to be spend on negativity. However, a promise is a promise, and unlike this establishment I keep my promises. My out of town daughter was home for her bridal shower. She made her blow out appt. for 9 am Sat. She received an email and phone call on Friday confirming that appt. She appeared at 8 50 am to be told she did not have an appointment. Without much concern she was told, yeah well no you don't, that stylist doesn't even come in till 3, we don't know what to tell you, this has happened before, we can get you in later.( We had to leave the house by 10 to get to her shower) She called and texted me, I told her come home, you are beautiful, we will get through this. I then called the salon to find out how this debacle occurred. Receptionist was the same to me, indifferent, uncaring and also added that my daughter cancelled the appoint at 6 am. I told the receptionist I was not getting off the phone without speaking to a manager. Held on for a few moments before a different woman got on the phone. How can I help you? I am pretty sure she was told that a disgruntled client was on the phone. I repeated the entire story. The woman on the phone was annoyed, indifferent and defensive in her conversation with me. She restated that my daughter cancelled her appointment, but they could give her one at 9 45 am. Told her this was not an appropriate response, and I thought the owner should know what was happening in her business. That is when she told me, she was the owner. I was slack jawed. Never apologized, never said "Clearly this is our mistake". Many women who were at the shower are members of our community who know of or have frequented this salon. 'So unprofessional" was the phrase I heard the most. I can only hope that the owner reads this, or someone tells her about it, and that she can rethink the training of her Receptionists (they are representing her business), her scheduling and most importantly her own handling of her business and her clients. Mistakes and snafus are part of all businesses, we both of course would still have felt the stress of this mistake. However, if the owner would have admitted the mistake was made by her staff, instead of blaming her client, gave concern for her client, followed through with a proper explanation of what had happened, maybe then the bitter taste of this ordeal would not exist. read more

I had event makeup done here. I was pleased with their ability to get me in short notice and work with my schedule. However, they didn't provide fake eyelashes nor do they guarantee you can buy the products they use to touch up your makeup throughout your event. Three strikes and you are out. I was given a gift card three times and found each time I had poor service, unprofessional management AND dirty. I've since moved and found a wonderful spa in Florida. First and second gift card was for mani/pedi. They were done by a hair stylist not a person who specializes in nails. So if you go be sure to ask for a nail professional. Also nail clippings were still on the towel that was just folded over when I sat down. My fault for not asking for a clean station but I was with the person who gave me the gift card and did't want to embarrass her. She was not impressed either with the service. Second time I notice a hair balls under where the coffee is. Gross. Once again my service wasn't done by a nail professional and didn't get service that was requested. Instead I was given some lipgloss to make up the difference. The last and final time I tried to ask the front desk about the cost of my service and was told one thing and when I checked out if was a different price. When I brought this to the attention of the front desk the girl said she was new and then another girl shoved the receipt I front of me and told me to sign it. After explaining to her I will sign it once I understood the difference in price they were still nasty. Didn't get anywhere but decide I would never be going back and didn't want to waste any more of my time. Tried to talk with the owner but she was unprofessional as well. My son wedding day was important to me, so looking good was a big part of it, unfortunately, innovations could careless. The brides mom made the appointment awhile ago, and paid a lot up front, when I called to check on the time i also asked for my regular stylist, sorry i was already scheduled with someone else. Mind you this was a month before the big day, and i knew my regular stylist was having health issues. Saturday was raining in the morning,and I knew we'd have problems with my fine ,short hair. So two hairpins were used to hold some behind my ears. This apparently constitutes an "up-do". Which did not stay up! Thank the good lord for a daughter-in law that could help;, no she is not a stylist, and it wasn't easy with to much hair spray already on it. So when I called to complain I wasn't even given an apology for the mess they made of my hair or a reason for the up-do charge, I reimbursed the brides mom. Nothing but , "Well we didn't charge you for the hairpins!". Now really 2 lousy pins, what did it cost them ten cents? I will miss my now former stylist, of 4 years, but I can't deal with a business like that. There are others salons even better out there. read more
