After a couple days i noticed imperfections in a couple of the rooms so i reached back out to them. They were very quick to respond and sent the crew out the same day, they inspected the floors and ended up doing another coat at no cost. Floors came out great. Both my house and the attached house were painted at the same time, so the work was extensive. My neighbor and I had agreed to work together on the project; we live on an historic designated street, and the town of Princeton, NJ requires coordination of colors, architectural details, safe removal of lead paint, etc. We agreed to seek at least three estimates and in-person consultations for the work. Joe, the owner of Five Star, was our last consult, and afterward we agreed that if the price was fair, we'd hire his company. The price was reasonable - neither the cheapest nor the most expensive we were quoted. As soon as we received our formal estimates we sent out the required deposits - half of the total price, with the rest to be paid upon completion. Five Star is truly an owner-operated company; the owner, Joe, was onsite virtually every day of the project, directing work, and often working himself. This proved to be very necessary, because the block on which my house is situated is more like an alley - houses are very close together, parking scarce, and the neighbors are, well, very involved and vocal at every stage of the project. Joe and his crew did fine work on these old houses; they went from worn and even dilapidated, to crisply bright and refreshed. Very simply, the houses look good, but getting them there was no easy task: lead paint to carefully and safely remove; frequent repairs to old woodwork and moldings; and, importantly, keeping the neighbors informed and content at every stage of the process. In short, I was delighted with the work of Five Star - everyone at the company, from the office staff to every worker, was unfailingly polite and competent. I'd like to specially commend Joe, the owner of Five Star: kind, courteous and informed, he is the sort of trustworthy service professional that one encounters only rarely. On multiple occasions the contractor made unnecessary comments related to the anticipated costs of the remodel - alluding to our assumed inability to afford the scope of the work. Needless to say we took our business elsewhere and couldn't be happier with the outcome of the work done. There are plenty of contractors in the market that will deliver a high quality product without thumbing their nose at you or assuming that they're too good for any job. If you want a company that acts like they're elite but only deliver the same outcome as anyone else - look no further - this is a great choice for you. However, I'd suggest you avoid the holier than thou attitude and find someone who will not only get the job done, but also treat you right.

Our personal experience from initial meeting to final punch list and completion was awesome. We also had the added challenges of doing this from a distance since moving from Hoboken to what is now our primary home in Hawaii. We especially needed someone that we could trust and rely on for overseeing our Hoboken renovation from beginning to end since we would not be local during most of the project. Tony from Hoboken Kitchen & Bath promptly met us to do a walk thru of our project. He gave us some great ideas and we were glad to have them in order to help us with our final decision on what to do and what not to do. We wanted this renovation to be for us and also to ensure we were getting as much value added as possible from this project. Tony called out things to help us, some of which suggested things like we should expand our counter top to accommodate more storage and seating, a pocket door solution to solve for working around a small bathroom footprint, more lighting to make things more uniform. He literally made our kitchen look super customized and our bath/shower combination feel like a luxury spa and hotel. At the end of the day, he and his team transferred builder grade to customized in weeks. Tony and his team was also incredibly flexible throughout the renovation. Even as we were coming up with "what if" situations he and his team accommodated everything that was reasonably possible and within our budget, such as adding a glass enclosure to our toilet and changing the vanity for more space even as they were close to completion. He gave us reasonable updated estimates for these last minute client initiated add ons and was able to layer this into his team and their schedules. The communication was great throughout and he also kept our very strict condo association and admin team updated which we greatly appreciated for sure. Our renovation finished only about a week longer than expected but that was due to the added extras that were not part of our original scope so we were very grateful for his team being able to keep to the estimated timeline.. Lastly, we really love our new kitchen and bathroom and all our family and friends that have stayed and used our apartment to date have all complimented on how nice and comfortable they were when using our newly renovated apartment. Based upon our personal experience, we highly recommend Tony, his team and Hoboken Kitchen & Bath. We were fortunate enough to have teamed up with a skilled contractor and designer who not only cares about the work but also his client relationships. Unfortunately, we encounter a surprised moisture spot, which Marc help and guided to immediately remediate. We drastically change the original stain color from deep dark brown to white, the spaces look amazing brighter and bigger. At another location Marc and his amazing crew will be installing new flooring and applying the finishing stain. His work is sloppy, incomplete and overall bad. I sincerely regret hiring this company to do a simple repair and refinish. Workers reported 2 hours late, worked four hours, and left a mess. They were to be done in one day, but left the job early and incomplete. I was told they'd return the following day, and they did not. No call or text, Marc had already collected enough money that it was clear he didn't care about his promise to fulfill work in time. The NYC CONSUMER AFFAIRS has gotten involved and now it is time to file at the court.

There are so many decisions to be made, more than anyone would ever realize before starting. I interviewed several contractors. Some of them were unresponsive, some of them showed bad reno photos, some quoted prices that were outrageous, and some posted fake reviews. From the very beginning, Luigi was always available to answer any questions. He provided a detailed work plan and quickly responded to any of the multiple changes I made during the planning. He was never pushy, was always straightforward and honest, and a pleasure to work with. During the process, he kept me up-to-date on everything that was going on and what was next to do. After the reno was over and I needed it some slight adjustments, Luigi was just as easy to reach and had his team come back more than once for slight corrections. Luigi is who you need as your project manager! I also cannot say enough about Jose and his team of guys. They did excellent work and completed the project in the time they quoted. Jose is a master at what he does from installing the cabinets, the trim, and the appliances to fit perfectly. He also did beautiful job installing the tile backsplash and it looks better than I even imagined. I absolutely love my kitchen and so does everyone else who sees it .
