Wandered into Innjoy after finding a few bars in the area wouldn't put the Bulls game on (C'mon Fifty/50 you've got like 35 tvs)! Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised- available tables, quick friendly service, and TVs with the Bulls, Monday night football, and some weird snowboarding channel. Bonus: it was 25 cent wing night! So let's get to the meat of this review: the wings! I am a saucy wing fan. I like sauce on my wings (and I'm all buffalo, no BBQ). So, I was disappointed to have the wings come out dry. The menu noted that the wings were fried, and then finished on a grill. Cool. But, the wings were dry. HOWEVER, this was really not a bad thing- they were crispy, perfectly cooked, not at all rubbery, and they had a decent amount of spice without being overpowering. I asked the waitress for sauce on the side and I think she brought me hot sauce, not wing sauce...but a little wing lubrication and we were on the right track (plus more spice)! The wings didn't come with celery or carrots, but they did have ranch on the side. Kind of weird, but hey, who needs extra fiber (well, I do, sometimes). Anyway, I will definitely be back. No- amazing beer specials, most of the TVs were not HD or giant, but the friendly and prompt service totally made up for that. Extra points: good eclectic music playing in the background. read more

This is the thing, I have been going to Innjoy for the past 5 or 6 years, The wings are great, beer is good, and there is nothing better then sitting outside in the summer and people watch! But....... I have had the WORST SERVICE EVER, the last 4 times I have walked in! My boyfriend and I walked in last Saturday afternoon, we wanted wings and beer. We sat.....and sat.....and sat...... A-OK is about the best way to describe Innjoy. It's...a decent neighborhood joint, a good place to cut loose when you wanna cut loose, but unless you've got a reason to go to that stretch of Division anyways, it's not a destination bar, and that's totally fine. Chicago needs more bars that just...exist, that don't aspire to be something more than they are, where you can have a couple of beers on a random night without breaking the bank or feeling like you're surrounded by River North rejects. read more

Hands down, best grilled cheese in Chicago. I don't order it very often so that statement is up for debate. But the grilled cheese was awesome! The fries had pepper on them, which blew my mind because I always put pepper on my fries but this time didn't have to! Last time I was here my friend and I were being our own version of Olympic commentators so needless to say this bar is very accepting of annoying/funny/drunk people. All the other food people got looked good and bartenders sure serve a damn fine Amstel Light! This place is literally a hop, skip, and a jump from my apartment, so it's usually one of the choices when we can't think of where else to go. The service is hit and miss. If there are very few people in there, you'll be ok, otherwise...good luck! Forget about going there on the weekends, it's impossible to get a drink and too crowded. The food is pretty yummy, except for the hummus. Someone always orders the hummus plate and everytime it tastes terrible...sour or bitter or something not hummusy. Went here to grab some drinks at a place that would allow dogs in their outdoor seating area. After walking by much busier places we went here because there was a big outdoor enough table to accommodate our party and two dogs. The place had a sizable patio area in front of the bar with a tv facing outward. Why it showed Nascar instead of college football boggled my mind though. Inside were more tvs and lots of booths and lots of room in the middle. It seemed dive-y inside from what i briefly saw. We grabbed our own table and ordered some drinks and two appetizers. The drinks were delivery promptly but only because the server forgot how many wings we ordered. Afterwards she disappeared never to be seen again. A different server brought out our wings and we had to as where our other app was. The order was never placed. we were not served until the forgotten apps were brought out and by then all of us needed another round. Same delay for our last round too. I think they were understaffed at the time but still... service was way slow. The place has a good beer list of draft and bottles with some good craft and import beers along with the standard giant brewery beers. I also tried a bloody mary and that was a bit too spicy for me, and i like spicy foods. The food itself was ok. The bacon wings were a bit too sweet and the cajun waffle fries didn't impress me much. Overall it's a nice place to chill outside with your dogs if you wanna meet people out at a bar to enjoy the weather. The food was average, in both taste and price, and if you don't mind sitting around, the slow service may work to your advantage for not spending too much money. read more

This place has got to be one of the worse experiences I have ever had at a bar in a really long time. I was feeling a bit adventurous last night so I decided to visit this joint for some late night food and beverages with my two buddies. Hello! Ordered 3 appetizers at 9:30 pm got them at 11:00 pm. I am not kidding you at all. It was unbelievable! Not only that, the freaking small mixed beverages were 7 dollars a piece! It's reasonable, I am not complaining, but when you get bad service, wait for an hour and a half for appetizers, 7 dollars is A LOT! There are too many good places in Chicago to make it a second time. Tip: Go at your own risk. This place is not worth it, especially if you work hard for your shiny pennies. read more

2 of my really good friends used to work here, and i used to go all the time. I think ive been back once since they quit. But sometimes, i still wish i would go every monday. This place is cool in my book. Food ish: The wings were tasty. Mel V. and I did half Jamaican jerk/half buffalo. Both were yum-o. The waffle fries, though (w/ ranch dipping sauce) -- ugh. I kept going...and going...and going... Ridic. Uber good. Miscellaneous ish: There were tvs all around for game-watching, which is always a plus. Sometimes, you just GOTTA know the score. Came here the other night with erin n. In an effort not to completely repeat everything she said in her review, I will keep this brief. 1) Reasonable prices. 2) EXCELLENT service. 3) OK food. 4) YUM beer on tap. I had the mini burgers which were a bit overcooked and dry, but the menu had enough interesting things to keep me coming back and trying more things before I formulate a final opinion. Not really my type of crowd, but we grabbed a table at the back of the bar and had a great time people watching (and watching the ridiculous x-rated funny videos playing on the t.v. screens)! Went late on a Friday night and the bar was pretty crowded- took awhile to work my way up to the front to get a drink. Been going here for some time now. I love the $2 drink special on Wed and 1/2 off Pizza!! The goat cheese and spinach is always good and really, you can't beat $2 drinks. Service sometimes is hit or miss. Some weeks its right on and the service is super friendly and very attentive, other times we have sat a while before being acknowledged or the waitress is just flat out spacey. That however has not stopped me from coming almost every week. If you want good drink specials and reasonably priced food I would hit up Innjoy, especially now that the patio is open. We went here for dancing a few weeks ago, based on reviews of their 90s dance music. This definitely did not disappoint, paired with the music videos (and many old episodes of America's Funniest Home Videos, which I found a bit random). The drinks were good and a pretty good value for the size. The place was nearly entirely full of females at bachelorette parties the night we went (and we were there for a birthday to add to the numbers of women). My issue was with how many people they PACKED into the place. You really didn't have room to dance during the night, just to sing along to whatever song was playing. It wasn't until after midnight that it cleared out enough that you could actually move around. read more

I like to go here for drinks and the good music they play, but last week a group of us went to Innjoy a bit earlier than usual for food and some shots! The food is awesome. Simple bar food executed perfectly. PLEASE TRY THE WINGS. some of the best in the city, and trust me I eat lots of wings. The only gripe I have is that they charged us fully for every drink we had. for a group of 5, some shots of Patron, beers, food and jack and cokes, our bill was $400. Obviously they knew what was going on, because they sent over two rounds of these sweet caramel tasting shots. nasty for a bunch of people ordering Patron. I worked in the club industry and in bars, and if you are a stranger ordering Patron constantly, you never charge for all the shots. We could have bought four bottles for what they charged us. I have been twice, and had a great time both times. The first was on the day they had a chicken wing deal. 25 cents, I think. And, i think it was a monday or tuesday... They were pretty big for that price, so it was a great deal. The other time I went was this Saturday. I got the fish n chips, which was awesome. Had a great time as the night wore on. We were with another couple who had a toddler, and they were very accommodating especially considering what the place was... a bar. Food was pretty good, a solid B-. The waffle fries were great. LOVE this place! It has great specials and is just an all-around good place to go and hang out. Don't expect to watch a game here unless it's something "big" (i.e. Monday Night Football when the Bears are playing) which is fine by me. The music is great and the servers are all really sweet. If you go more than once, they definitely remember you. We brought our dog one evening when the outdoor seating was open and while he can be a little jumpy sometimes when he gets bored (he's a lab), the waitress was VERY nice about him trying to be her "friend" whenever she came outside, which we totally appreciated. I love the food here - the turkey burger and cajun fries are a staple in my diet. Great weekday specials (Tuesday 1/2 price burgers!). They have a lot of interesting art and the music is eclectic and fun. I give it 3 instead of 4 stars solely for the service. I've had servers ranging from mediocre to down right rude (seriously don't roll your eyes when I ask if you've had the veggie burger and if you liked it). I went here to meet up with some friends Halloween weekend, big mistake. It was way too crowded and damn near impossible to move anywhere in the bar. I was lucky enough to get a table with my group and ordered my drinks from the waitress. I ordered an Effen Black Cherry in soda. I drink these on a regular basis and what I got was most definitely well vodka with cherries in it. BUT the waitress charged me $10 for it! So I thought I'd try again, maybe she heard wrong. Again, well vodka and $10. Two other friends tasted my drink and agreed it definitely was not the vodka I had ordered nor did my boyfriend get a Jack and Coke. His was also well alcohol and $10. He has been a bartender for 6 years so he knows his alcohols. In addition to being overcharged for cheap alcohol, the crowd was very rude. We ended up at Gold Star where I got what I ordered for much cheaper and had some room to breathe. read more

We had not planned on stopping here but the folks outside on the sidewalk seemed to be "innjoying" themselves. Plus we noticed the sign that said Thursday nights were half-priced appetizers and couldn't pass it up. The food was timely, and satisfying. I can only speak for the artichoke dip, the chicken quesadilla, and side salad (which had lots of carrots, but I didn't mind). The service was great, very friendly. The atmosphere wasn't overwhelming except for maybe the music being a bit loud for a conversation. The only other thing that threw us off were the pitchers of beer, they were priced amazingly (I think there might have been a special that night for them?) However, they came to us a little warm. It's not like I desire ICE COLD beer by any means, but this was probably around 45 degrees. They did their best to cool it down for us (simply put ice in a cup and let float in the pitcher). I can't explain what is wrong with this place. I went for the first time back in March or so and it was a decent place. Nice bartender, decent deals on pitchers, plenty of ball games on. And then I went back in July. Now it sucks, plain and simple. Sucks really hard to be sure. The nice bartender was gone, and in his place was a sub-par version, to put it gently. We were able to make it in on a recent Saturday night and it was crowded, hot, and way too unorganized. The place itself is charming and my fellow imbibers were all pretty chill and relaxed. It took awhile to even get up to the bar and I think there were way too many people in here because there wasn't even any place to walk, let alone sit and talk. Horrible experience last night. The BF and I stopped by Helen's for a drink to avoid the Division bus nightmare at rushhour, then walked over to InnJoy for dinner. We ordered spinach dip to start and a med rare burger to share. 30 minutes later when nothing was at the table I walked over to the server at the waitstation and asked if our dip was coming. Her answer was " It should be, kitchens backed up" Um .. ok. There were maybe 10 people there at the time. 20 minutes later after trying to get her attention and the attention of the bitchbag bartender behind the bar. We walked out I have never walked out of a restaurant before. In my whole life. microwaving spinach dip takes top 8 minutes and a med rare burger 10, not 50 minutes. and if she was really that backed up all she needed to do was acknowledge us, tell us whats happening. I hate drinking out of plastic cups unless I'm at a house party. The night I went, the dishwasher must have been broken because we kept getting rounds in solo cups. Eventually it was my round and I went up to order... bar-dude has his hand on a plastic cup, glances back at me quickly, and then changes his mind and grabs a pint glass. JEDI MIND POWERS! I think Inn Joy would instantly be a 4 star bar if they got rid of all the big screens. I like the fireplace a lot and the booths in the back look perfect for drunken tongue-spiralling, should the mood catch you. The DJ this Monday night was alright. M.I.A. was played (YES) and then followed by Gwen Stefani (NO)... and then the same Feist song twice within 30 minutes (Uhhh). I can see myself getting drunk here again after being coerced into coming here. It used to be a cozy, cute, dirty, dark, divey spot. Now it is bright with really cold ceiling fans that spin 90 miles an hour. BAH. Innjoy? More like Innsuck...I wish I could give this place a 1/4 of a star, it does not deserve a full star. To begin with, they let half of our party in and claimed they were "at capacity," it was very evident they were not. Funny thing is, girls were allowed to freely walk in and out of the bar through the open doors. When I brought this up with the manager he claimed they were already in the bar, I guess when we saw them walk around the corner 2 blocks down they were in the bar. We were told we could sit outside and get a drink until the bar "cleared up." Fine..we sat outside, and then waited, and waited, and waited for our Coors Bottles. All the waitress had to do was go into the "half way full to capacity" bar and take some caps off of four bottles and bring them to us. Apparently that takes 20 minutes. While we were waiting, my boyfriend asked to use the bathroom. The bouncer wouldn't let him in even though we were paying customers sitting in the outside area. How can an establishment refuse paying customers usage of their facilities? After a long debate, they finally let him in. About a minute after our beers came it began to rain. The bouncer still wouldn't let us in. We weren't allowed to stand under the awnings to seek shelter from the rain because we had our bottles of beers, we could only stand in the fenced off area in the rain. When we stood under the awnings to avoid the rain, the bouncer took my boyfriends and friends FULL bottle of beer away from them. (the ones we JUST got after waiting 20 minutes). We would have ditched the joint, but the waitress was MIA with my debit card. She finally decided to come out in the rain and bring it to me. I left her no tip, because A. she took 20 minutes to bring us our beer B. we didn't even get to drink them before they were snatched from us C. we were forced to stand in the rain. The manager (or who seemed to be the manager) picked up the bill and had the nerve to say "what no tip?" Yeah they might play 80s and 90s music, but so does my iPod and plenty of other bars. This place is pretty much, "A-OK". They have really good deals on really good food a couple days a week, but it's not a bar at which to get drunk. The drinks are pricey if you don't like what they have on special, but there are specials. I personally find the seven (I think) tvs in the small room distracting, but its good if you want to catch every game on, as well as some confusing extreme sports video and a muted news channel. Don't get me wrong though, I always have a nice time there, the food is good, the half price margaritas are good, and I will go there again. read more
