I can't believe that I've never written a review for Candle Wick. I've shopped and visited here…read moreseveral times for the most delicious candles, crystals, herbs and other spiritual goodies. I love the Motor City Hoodoo candles. They are incredibly luscious and are powerful. I bought Miss Cleo Mae today...the Goddess Bitch candle. I also purchased the Goddess Lakshmi oil. Everything is reasonable priced. The staff is more than equipped to handle any questions; it's a pleasure talking with people who are into what you're into. The shop carries a great welcoming and comforting energy. Classes and gatherings are offered, such as meditation circles. Parking: paid on the street or parking lots.

I went out of my way to purchase vigil candles from this store. The candles wouldn't burn because…read moreof their metal wicks (a sign of an extremely low quality candle). When I requested a refund they said because the product had been used they couldn't accept (of course they've been used, I attempted to burn the candles, which ultimately wouldn't burn). Also said they 'couldn't guarantee the quality' because they didn't manufacture them. Do not sell product you can't stand behind! I was shocked and disappointed by the terrible customer service here. Wouldn't recommend. I will continue supporting The Boston Tea Room where they run an exceptional business and treat customers with respect!

I've visited a few times for tall candles. To me, it's novelty but other people take these candles…read moreso seriously... going so far as having them "blessed" by certain staff members. You'll find candles for almost any ailment, predicament or situation. Baby mama drama, legal trouble, help winning the lottery, etc. Some of them are printed on the jar but other signs are taped onto the jar (a little low-rent for my tastes). Room for improvement includes pricing all the candles. I picked one up without a price tag and it was $8 when I got to the register, when I saw many others priced around $6 or $7. It was a gift for a friend so not a big deal. Discount Candles is a really fun shop whether you believe the hullabaloo or not. They offer a wide variety of candles, incense and oils to choose from, and they've got a large (free!) parking lot to the right of the store for your convenience. Check the photos I uploaded for an idea of what the shop is like!

There's so much to say about this completely unique, delightfully quirky shop. It has…read morespiritualness, a great sense of humor, and a great respect for otherworldly forces. That all shines through with the candles, votives, incense, etc. that is thoughtfully shelved and shared. To add to the shopping experience, the staff is wonderful! So friendly, helpful, and just all-around cool. And if someone asks you if you want your candle dressed, the correct answer is yes.

This was such a fun experience! I came here with my girlfriends to celebrate my friend's birthday…read more When you enter the shop, you are given a clipboard and are directed to start smelling all the fragrances...over 80!! You write down all of your favorites and then narrow it down your list to the top 4 scents you think smell best together to create your own signature candle. You can also make a reed defuser, room spray, or soap as an alternative option. Before pouring the wax and mixing your scents, you choose from their selection of jars, ranging in price around $40-60. After creating your candle and naming your scent, it takes around 90-120 minutes for it set. I think the experience could be elevated with a few things: An option to customize your candle with glitter, color of wick, color of wax, ability to select a cute label with your scent's name or create one, even a label maker would do the trick. They have some cute vessels, but I would love to see more variety in different styles, colors, and sizes. I asked the owner, Marleen what ingredients were in the fragrance oils and she couldn't really give me a complete answer other than they are not 100% essential oils but they're synthetic and safe because they don't buy them from overseas. hmmm.... With that said, I'm sure they contain toxins like phthalates and ethyl methoxycinnamates. Reputable brands of oils will clearly label their products and disclose all the components. I try to use scents, body care, and household cleaners free from toxins so this is a little concerning not knowing what chemicals are in the candle. I'm sensitive to irritants which aggravate my asthma and also give me headaches. I just wish i knew for sure what was in this magical potion of oils we mixed. Overall, I had a fun time and made some great memories. It's a unique activity for a date night or group outing with friends that all ages can enjoy.

This was such a fun experience!! Good for groups and date night!…read more Checking in was a breeze and they got us set up quickly. They give you a card to write down your top scents. We started by smelling several scents, they have 90 scents to smell - I skipped some that weren't appealing like bacon and old books LOL Be sure to grab you a bag of coffee beans to cleanse your scent palette. I don't want to spoil the process so I won't tell you everything! So just go ahead and make a reservation, the fee goes towards your reservation at the end. I'm going to wait 2 weeks before light my custom candle so that I get the best scent payout. It's worth the money. You can make a candle, room diffuser, and/or room spray. I'll be back to make a diffuser.

Gorgeously curated space! Unique finds…read more Fairly priced Stop in! Scout was one of the better spaces I've experienced in Royal Oak.

If you're going to have a store that just sells kitch or art you need to follow a few rules…read more 1) Be nice to your customers. They don't have to buy anything and so you better kiss their behinds. Even if they don't want anything they might feel bad for you because you were so nice. 2) The prices need to be low enough to justify buying something useless. 3) You have to gave good stuff that people want, though they don't need. Also, it helps to have things that one has never seen before and thus must purchase it because they may never see it again. Well, Scout is a nice enough store. The store sells kitch, curios and art. The inside is nice and bright. There are some interesting items, but nothing that I can't live without. Also, I've seen a lot of the same items around the area. The prices were probably comparable but were still pricey. I don't think there was anything for less than $10 or I didn't find it. I give Scout 3 stars because the lady behind the counter was not very friendly or helpful. When I walked into the store she didn't acknowledge me right away or ask if I needed anything. Instead she just talked to a friend for almost the whole 15 minutes we were in there. I was the first to say hello as I entered. Eventually, she engaged us in conversation a little, but it wasn't the friendliest of conversations. Scout had some unique gift ideas and art pieces. Over all the quality stuff was very expensive. The rest could probably be purchased at other stores of a similar nature. I don't really have a reason to go back here.
