I wanted to write an updated review of Downtown Tarot Company because they are truly a GEM of…read moredowntown Rochester and I'm so grateful that they exist! Since my last review in 2021, I have frequented this shop a TON and this year I basically have gone every week. I have gotten very into the metaphysical, so I initially began shopping here more frequently because of their incredible and diverse crystal selection. I particularly love their mystery bags that the employees intentionally and thoughtfully curate! They are great to buy for yourself or your loved ones and it's a unique and thoughtful kind of gift that those who are interested in crystals, incense, candles, and holistic goodies will really appreciate! I've also done two different tarot readings, one was a 15 minute walk in that I was able to pop in and do in the same day, and the other one was a thoughtful gift my friend had gotten me. Both readings were so lovely and spot on as well! As of this year, I've begun to take their CLASSES! They offer a ton of incredible classes, taught by their incredible employees who are subject matter experts in their fields! I've taken Tarot 1 (January 2025), Tarot 2 (February 2025), and Lenormand (April 2025) classes with Janis and The Magic of Astrology (March 2025) with Jorie! All have been incredible and hence why I keep coming back! Be sure to pay attention to their class offerings as the ones so far I've signed up for are multi-week ones, but they also offer one-time, one-off classes and I have a couple of those coming up in the next few months here! It is always the most incredible time at Downtown Tarot Company! Everyone who works here is so friendly and welcoming, very helpful to any and all questions you might have, and are always open to suggestions on what other merchandise you want to see in the store!!

I credit much of my growth to incorporating her goddess candle and bath soaks into my new moon routine. She's intuitive and crafty, when I commissioned her to make candles for my birthday party last year she nailed it. Mind you, I only offered her "sparkly and blue/purple" as descriptors! The candles were periwinkle votives with gold sparkles and a feminine, relaxing scent. Above and beyond usual favors! I am excited for her brick and mortar vision manifesting, and went the opening weekend for a crystal reading. She told me what all the crystals meant and even sent me home with some, as well as Palo Santo and a ritual made just for my current needs. Highly recommend!

Well, a sort of pop-up located inside of Supernatural Lingerie, but its her own space and it's comfortable and cool so thats good enough for me. Shiva is so sweet and insightful - she knows her way around a tarot deck, let me tell you. I also appreciate her sincerity and honesty, she has a really refreshing take on all things mystical that even this jaded New Yorker can get behind. I only wish she was on the east coast! So do yourself a favor, fire up those magical crystals and book a session.

There is quite a bit of parking out back as well. The shop was pretty small, but filled with all different types of crystals. Each one had a label with the name of the crystal. She had a lot of larger pieces that I am interested in, and I was able to purchase some. She also has some cathedral pieces that were absolutely beautiful. She even had some really amazing pieces in another section, but they were not for sale. They were so beautiful to look at though, and I was impressed with them. The reason this place is a 5 star can be due to a bit of bias on my end considering I absolutely love penguins. I have had such difficulty locating penguin crystals anywhere. I only found one other shop that had a tiny malachite figurine for $30. I found a larger penguin in a glass case. It was an Onyx penguin standing on top of Pyrite. I also found a tiny penguin figurine made of jasper. I can not recall the exact price but I believe it was somewhere between $4-6 for it. This is a typical price considering I usually pay $6 for mine elsewhere. Every other shop insisted that penguin spirit animal figurines did not exist, and I found a lot online. I was happy that she had two penguins, and I got them for such a great deal. I will definetely be back in the future.
