Glen Rose, Texas is known worldwide for its dinosaur tracks and fossils, plus Native American artifacts!!

Gorgeous Paluxy River view & property, super friendly hosts (2 & 4 legged!), delicious breakfast, comfortable quiet rooms, historic quaint town...what's not to love? I could feel the peace settling into my soul from the moment we walked through the front door. Thank you for a lovely & restful work/family getaway! We will definitely be back.

Newly renovated Inn on the River in Glen Rose, TX and Snyder's Tavern. A must visit and stay a while!

Inn on the River in Glen Rose , TX has taken advantage of the closure due to the pandemic and renovated this historic landmark. You must come by and meet the newest member of Inn on the River...Snyder's Tavern. You will experience amazing libations and gourmet cuisine with fresh made sauces that add to each meal. The detail given to each entrée is important to them and you will find a wide variety to the menu that will also accommodates special dietary needs. The 20 plus rooms are comfy with featherbed toppers to each bed. The decorated to period rooms are cozy and make this historic inn special. You will not find clock, phones or TV's in the rooms. The goal here is to unwind, unplug and relax. But, Snyder's Tavern didn't forget you sports fans, TV included for that special game.

You can't resist this face. Greeted us from a long day of hiking.

What a relaxing stay! Everyone, including the furry ones, were so friendly and went out of their way to make us feel at home. Pam and Scott made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. The room was clean and comfy. Our favorite part of the trip was sitting on the patio of the tavern, enjoying a bottle of wine from Snyder's Tavern, good conversation and watching the river roll by. Awww...I can't wait to go back!

Best bed in the world!!!

I have to say that I was skeptical about how much I would like the Inn. I am generally a shiny, new contemporary style girl when it comes to hotels. I have never slept better than at Inn on the River. The French feather beds were magical. I can't explain how comfortable they are!! And I could control the air in my room. No matter the price of the hotel (I've stayed at 2 that were 5 star hotels in the past month), they generally turn the air off in the middle of the night. It wakes me up and I never sleep the rest of the night. I like a cold room when I sleep and I had air all night at the Inn. The rooms were immaculate. I was in the Inn all day as the rooms were being cleaned and I saw how much time and effort they put in to each room. It is amazing how well they clean each and every inch of the place. Then there is the staff. They are unbelievably courteous and friendly. You feel just the right amount of interaction. And you always feel that they are genuinely thrilled to have you there and be allowed to host you. It makes you feel very at home. Breakfast is included with your room and it is so good!! I had to ask if everything was made on site because it was absolutely a 5 star breakfast. It is made on site and they clearly have an amazing chef. We also had a dinner catered for our group and it was one of the best meals I've had anywhere. I practically licked the balsamic dressing off of my plate. I asked and found out that their chef makes all of the dressings from scratch. I would love to see them bottle it, I would take it home with me!! Then the meal was cordon bleu with asparagus and carrots. I don't even like carrots and I ate every one of them!!! That was topped off with homemade apple pie. I had a cup of coffee with the dessert and it was the best coffee I've ever had. Overall, I would rather visit Inn on the River than just about any other place I've been. I feel relaxed and rejuvenated which is what you should feel after a vacation.

Inn on the River is simply amazing! Covid craziness completely blew up our wedding plans and resulted in us having a home-town ceremony at our house with just our parents and children. But we still wanted our wedding day to be special, and Inn on the River came through! I checked in Saturday afternoon so my mom, step-daughter and I could get ready in the room. Pam was there to make sure we had everything we needed. We took a few pictures on the beautiful riverbank and at the singing tree before heading home for the ceremony. My husband and I returned to our room after a lovely dinner at Riverhouse Grill (deeelish!) to a freshly cleaned room (after I made a mess getting ready), a bottle of wine and a lovely congratulatory card. We had a wonderful breakfast before heading out and again, Pam made sure we had everything we needed. We had a wonderful day and the team at Inn on the River helped make it a beautiful and memorable occasion!

Great place to spend a nice, relaxing weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The rooms were quiet and quaint, and the entire facility was well maintained and clean. The bed was super comfy in our room. Breakfast was delicious and Pam and the other staff members were very helpful.

Picked up a Cobb salad with grilled chicken. The chicken had been grilled and refrigerated. It was very dry and I was very disappointed.

It was fantastic! Fun history of the family distillery and I definitely know what I don't like! I mean if chewing on a barrel board soaked in alcohol was a thing, that's what some of them tasted like! Don't be mad! Just my opinion! I'm normally sipping on Sangria! Now the buttered pecan, it was like sipping spicy syrup! And that was delightful! Pass the pancakes! The toasted coconut ! Warmed my heart in the best way possible! And then we got to the moonshine! Thankfully it was just tiny tasting cups! My favorites were the Pecan Sippin Sauce & the Peach Pie. I mean the banana pudding moonshine wasn't terrible either! After all those little TINY sips we had dinner at the cantina on the property. I had birria tacos and TA had birria fries. So GOOD! After we had filled our bellies with FOOD, we had to check out the converted train caboose to speakeasy lounge, just a little walk behind the main building where you could order fun cocktails and just sit and chat. We met some fun people and had the best conversation with delicious cocktails! We tried the chocolate martini and the toffeetini! Every staff member was welcoming, helpful and seemed genuinely happy to work there! The property is great! LOVED the swings outside and the seating inside was fun and inviting! From vintage couches and chairs to tables and chairs! All around great experience! Looking forward to returning for cooler weather, outdoor live music and fire pits!

Beautiful outdoor venue with live music! A perfect Saturday afternoon spot! Corn hole and rocking chairs make it active and relaxing! First, this is not an all-inclusive venue. Many items are charged separately, including linens, use of the TV, AV equipment, and even certain rooms like the back room. These additional costs can add up quickly, so I recommend asking for a full breakdown of fees in advance. I also want to mention the policy regarding security officers. When I booked, I was told the officer requirement would be at the manager's discretion. I communicated multiple times that my event would end by 6 PM. However, I was still required to pay for an officer through 10 PM, even though the event ended much earlier. While I understand policies are in place, this was unexpected and felt unfair based on prior communication. One policy to be aware of is that open flames are not allowed. I was able to adjust without issue, but it's something to plan for ahead of time. Overall, the space itself is nice, but I strongly recommend getting clear, written confirmation of all fees, policies, and requirements before booking to avoid surprises.

I attended an event here but not sure about the prices. I arrived to my room and noticed there was a swarm of gnats in my bathroom sink. I killed them with a napkin and wasn't too worried about it, I was just here for one night so some gnats I figured I could deal with. I was short on time and had to leave for a wedding so I wasn't in the room all evening. When I got back from the wedding, I went to the bathroom and noticed even more gnats plus a HUGE spider in the corner of my bathroom in between the toilet and shower. It was probably close to golf ball size or bigger. I have bad arachnophobia so I'm dramatic and can't get myself to even look at or kill spiders let alone get one out of my room myself. I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep knowing the spider could move to my room so I closed the door and tried calling the front desk but received no answer. I then walked down the hall but noticed no one was at the front desk. I was unable to use my bathroom that night and had to get up super early to leave the hotel because I couldn't sleep. I went to the pool bathroom before I left and there was a small spider in that bathroom as well. No one was at the front desk when I went to leave either. The room wasn't super clean, there was a big stain on the ground near the desk. It was LOUD, I could hear every stomp and step down the hall up above me and outside my door and all of the doors slam super loud as well. My door made an awful high pitched loud squeak sound every time I opened or closed it. Wasn't the worst stay of all time but definitely not somewhere I would choose to stay again.

They even have a food section at the front desk which plays and alarm if you enter in. Check in and out was pretty seamless. They do have a breakfast but there wasn't really any gluten free options. The bananas looked sus and the yogurt was the zero carb stuff that I could not have so we ate elsewhere. Parking was easy and the vibes were good here though.
