DO NOT STAY HERE. On…read more12/31/2025, I booked a room online at the Mollyocket Motel for 1/31/2026 - one month in advance. There was a notice on their website that the pool was under renovation, but there was no other indication that the motel was closed. On 1/31 at 2 PM, mere hours before I was supposed to check in, I received an email from "Alan" that the entire motel was closed for a remodel, and that my booking was canceled. He promised to refund me immediately. I was skiing all day and just happened to glance at my email before driving to the motel. No one from the motel attempted to call my cell phone, which I provided when booking the room. I was left scrambling to find alternative accommodations and had to pay nearly $100 more just to have a place to sleep. When I tried to call the Motel, no one picked up, and the voicemail was full. I am still waiting for a refund, and Alan has not responded to my email on 1/31.

The owner called and left us a voice mail 2 hours before our arrival stating the the room has flooded and he didn't have any other rooms. We didn't get the VM as we were driving to the hotel until we arrived into the parking lot. There is no office to talk to anyone, but a phone number to call. When we called, Alan stated again that the room was flooded and there were no rooms available. We then started to search for a place to stay as it was 8:57pm. There were zero hotel rooms within 90 miles of this place. We were forced to sleep in our rental car after driving for 7 hours that day. Not a pleasant experience. While searching for a new room, another couple showed up and got a room. They were told it was due to them booking "in advance". We booked a month in advance. We saw no sign of a plumber on site, no sign of the hotel trying to dry our the rooms. My guess is that Alan sold the room to someone else for a higher price. Alan didn't even have the decency to come out and explain this to us in person. Super shady. Then it took a dispute with my credit card to finally receive a refund from them. Never again. Stay away unless you like sleeping in your car when its 30's out. Use Caution!

This little place has a lot going for it, despite its age. If you were in Pacific Palisades and you…read moresaw it, you might say "Ô yikes ô!" - but this is South Paris, Maine, and things are different up here. Goodwin's is old - very old - and it looks it. That said, our room is *clean*, and everything works, more or less. Today the temperature is about 95° F, at somewhere between jillionty-seven and seven jillionteen percent humidity, and the little A/C unit in our room keeps the place comfortable. There's a fridge and a microwave in the room, both clean and functional. The drape pulls don't work that well, but you can close and open them by hand. The bathroom door won't close completely - the wood has swollen from the humidity, but if the handyman took a sander to the top, that could be fixed easily. The bathroom was well-cleaned. The showerhead must have been installed back in the days before the government took to shoving its nose in everyone's business, and to Pluto with water-saver fixtures, thank you... the absolutely Amazonian cascade of hot water that greeted me when I turned it on was enough to make me cheerfully forgive any other shortcomings the room might have had. If they fixed up a few things in the room, I'd gladly give them an extra star despite the age of the facilities - it's reasonably priced, and they're doing their best to keep the place up. I've been in a lot of hotels and motels that looked nicer on the surface but where the overall experience was much, much worse. Edit: As of 2013, the place has had a thorough shut-down and comprehensive remodel. I haven't been inside any of the rooms since, but I'm told it was a significant upgrade.

My boyfriend and I stayed here while visiting friends, upon the recommendation of a friend who said…read moreit has recently had a lot of upgrades. My first question after walking in the room: what upgrades???? The room had an awful cigarette stench (was probably a smoking room at some point), the carpet was dirty, dingy and had burn marks in it, the bathroom window was covered by an old hand towel, the tv remote did not work, and I had some serious doubts that the comforter on the bed had been washed lately. We were placed directly next to the office so we heard the phone and conversation all evening. I felt so disgusting after sleeping there but I was not even about to put my bare feet in that shower. I hopped in the shower the second I got home. Yes, it was cheap ($59) but we will never stay there again. My advice, shell out a little more money and stay at the motel down the road.
