I have been a patient with this organization for 20 years. The doctors are amazing. However, the office personnel need a lot of training. I went into the office to schedule an appointment and the receptionist said she couldn't do it because she was working clinic. She gave me a number to call. I stood and watched her for 5 minutes and she did nothing during that 5 minutes. Next, I called in to make an appointment. The lady wouldn't make an appointment unless I gave her my medicare number. I didn't have it on hand and I was already a patient there. WTF is with this staff. I called again with my medicare number and got an appointment. Very annoying staff. However, if you can endure the annoying staff, the doctors there are great. I've been going there for 20 years. When the original doctor (Clements) retired several years ago the staff became extremely unhelpful. read more

Front desk, beyond rude. Same lady has attended me over the past couple years and every time, without fail succeeds to be rude. Very bad attitude, short answers, not friendly whatsoever. She is training other staff as well. For being the face of the office when you first walk in and leave, not a single welcoming gesture or good bye. Horribly rude staff. Too bad, Dr Tew was great....but there are way too many better options out there. Not having to deal with Techs who think they are ODs or MDs because they get to wear scrubs, isn't worth it. Her only job was to check me in, not tell me my multi focal lens procedure wouldn't be covered by insurance....I knew that. After being a patient for 8 years, I'm tapping out. I gave this place a try despite the negative reviews, please don't make the same mistake. Although the Doctor I saw was very kind, the staff here is extremely rude and the calling system they have set up makes it impossible to contact them. I needed to see if they had a right eye contact I could use because mine ripped while waiting for my new box to come in and they wouldn't answer my calls or left messages. Ok this is an update, and a review only of the Fallbrook location. I stopped calling the main number, and just tried the one that is for the Fallbrook location. So I went there in 2019, and more recently in March 2021. No complaints. Everyone was nice, they were strict with the covid precautions, my exam went smoothly, picked out some lenses and bam I was out of there in 45 minutes total. read more

Dr. J. Grant Tew is one of the calmest and most composed doctors I've met. Following an eye injury that distorted my vision, he was incredibly thorough. He checked in on me twice a week throughout my recovery process and is actively collaborating with me to fully restore my vision. Despite the clinic being busy, he took his time and never rushed. Great eye doctor made an appointment got in in a timely manner the office is very clean the receptionist is very nice they're very proactive during covid! They have a great selection of glasses for men and women! They have a new procedure other than dilating your eyes it's a neat program and it goes more in-depth as to the quality of your inner eye. Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere. Lack customer service skills, and I feel like I'm just a paycheck to them. Moved from Orange County and thought we should move our optometry over. Found Inland Eye Specialist with a recommendation from a current patient. Exam went well, no complaints. I was given my prescription and felt a little rushed to leave. I asked if I could check out the glasses, because I had a new prescription. They said yes. At this time, it was 4:20p, they close at 5pm. While trying on glasses, they go and lock one side of the door, feeling rushed, I tried on a few & placed an order. 2 wks later, I get a call that my glasses are in. I go to pick them up, they give me the glasses and expected me to leave. I asked if I could get them adjusted. She adjusted the sides to sit properly on the sides of my head. I ask if she could adjust the nose part a little since it was sliding off. She responded "you should've gotten the ones with nose pads, that way they can pad your nose". I ignored her comment as she takes them to get adjusted. I leave with them and notice scratches on the lenses, I take them back & she said it's because they're high index lenses and that happens when they're adjusted. I told her I currently have high index lenses and they were adjusted to fit my face and have never had an issue with scratches on the lenses. My current glasses have similar frame material to what I was purchasing here and have never had issues at my old optometry. She asks me what I want to do and repeats herself "they're high index lenses so thats what happens when they frames are adjusted". I had to consistently ask if I could talk, because instead of listening, I am constantly fed excuse after excuse or the same response is repeated. I ask if they could get the lenses fixed, she took them and said they'll get sent back. Exactly 2 weeks go by and I haven't heard from anyone. I try calling for a follow up & no answer/response for the entire day. Will definitely not be a returning customer with Inland Eye Specialist after I get my glasses, whenever that may be since ive been waiting for a month now from my order date read more

My wife and I had a terrible experience with Inland eye Gouging. She was a Fallbrook patient for 2+ years and satisfied until the doctor determined she needed some minor eyelid surgery, and we scheduled the surgery for July. The surgery was delayed for a month due to COBRA issues (I'd just lost my job and there was a glitch showing we had no coverage when we actually did.) The day before the surgery we were called and told that the surgeon was not in the preferred provider (largest PPO plan in the nation) network, and we would be responsible for a hefty $1450+ charge. By this time my wife was in considerable discomfort and we opted to pay the out of network charges instead of seeking another in-network provider. The surgery was performed We paid what they asked at the office, and 3 months go by and they send us another bill for the same charges, only about $100 more. After several calls we were told the mistake would be rectified, and disregard the next billing. Well Inland eye continued to send us invoices and my wife would call each time and they would say it would be taken care of. Finally, one day we got a smaller bill for about $90. My wife again called and was assured it was a mistake I tossed the next 2 bills from them into the trash and forgot about them until I got a notice from a collection agency. I sent them a check and a nice long letter explaining the consequences of them cashing the check would be me taking the time to document my experience in a Yelp review. Well these money-grubbers cashed the check, and to add insult to injury, they called my wife AGAIN today asking for another $16 from a bill they never sent us over a year ago! I cannot believe how screwed up their billing system is. If we could give them a negative 5 stars they would get that rating. read more

I've been a patient for more than 5 years. They have been TERRIBLE during COVID. I've left 6 messages to try to buy new contacts and NO ONE CALLS BACK. Right now I called the 951-652-4343, actually spoke to a woman...and when I said I've been trying to call the San Diego offie is closed, she said "no they are open" and transferred me. And NOBODY ANSWERED!!!! The call rang and rang and then disconnected. Which I could have told her would happen if she had given me a chance before shuffling me off to another office. I am filing a complaint with the Board of Optometry. They have the worst service I've ever had. I am sitting in the office as I write this. I was not informed prior to my appointment that Dr Coleman moved offices (to an office closer to my house!) My appointment was at 10am, it is currently 10:53am and still have not seen the dr. The assistant keeps making comments that she can't see, isn't with it today, etc. how am I suppose to believe my intake was done correctly? I am so frustrated and i haven't even been seen! I hesitate to leave a comment prior to getting my glasses but after visiting this place 4 times and not having any of my needs Met I feel I need to express my concerns. I am a retired nurse. I have worked in doctor offices. Well run offices. I checked with my insurance prior to making my appointment. I requested the appointment and had my primary doctor refer me. I had lost my contact and needed to get in so I could see. I found out this was were I had to go to have insurance pay. I came after waiting 2 weeks with partial vision with referral in hand. I arrived and I let them know I had insurance that I had checked with. They said most insurances don't pay for what I was requested. I assumed since I waited 2 weeks they would have checked my insurance. I asked if they could check with my insurance but no. I ended up calling while I sat in waiting room. I filled out all their paperwork. My insurance confirmed I had insurance that paid 300 toward glasses or contacts and I had them tell the office girl. After that I was told they could not see me because the time was taken up trying to confirm what I told them when I walked in early. Then they said if I was going to have contacts and glasses I needed a separate code for insurance. This should not be for me to find out. But I went and got the code. They could ow not see me for 3 more weeks. I could hardly see with one contact but that was the best they could do. I decided to go have my vision done somewhere else and save my benefits to pay for glasses and contacts. Olive off social security and just do not have an extra 500 so once again called and explained I was just coming in for contacts and glasses. They said come any day. No appointment. I took off time that Friday. I showed the front desk my prescription and once again referral. When I went to check for glasses I was told no one was in. I told them I called the day before and was told to come in. The girl just said sorry. Once again I called on Monday to make sure I could be seen. I walked up and I had the place that had done my vision and contact exam fax the prescription to the number that I was given by inland eye. First when the girl looked me up she could not find any records of mine. I had spent 15 minutes prior filling out and I handed them my referral. They lost my records. I asked if they had my fax. They had no faxes. When I asked them to look they asked me where I had it faxed. I told them the number which is the number on the business cards. Three girls were all confused. Could not say where faxes go. Gave me three new numbers and everyone was looking in different places. Now I was told I needed a different code from insurance. Remember I have done this three times. Once called, I learned my appointment had been canceled because I hadn't "confirmed" the appointment via a voicemail left in early February. They said they could fit me in, but I'd have to wait. STAY AWAY - I attempted to make an appointment for my Autistic teen and the following was my experience. Staff lacked knowledge and training and possessed zero integrity. Holly the know it all scheduler acted as if she was an Ophthalmologist and told me that they "may or may not take my case" based off the notes she read from the referral. Eileen Garcia the office manager confirmed that the apple does not fall too far from the tree. Eileen gave me her direct fax # to ensure the referral was received due to the fact that the new referral was faxed FOUR times, but somehow never got there (this process began in November). Eileen promised she would call me as soon as she received the referral and assured me that she would personally schedule the appointment for my teen. I called and left her a voicemail hours after the referral was faxed to her personally and she never called me back. If this is the level of professionalism the office staff is exhibiting, then I can only imagine what a disappointment the doctors must be - clearly they are Not Autism Friendly. read more

Do to COVID a lot of things have changed. I love the way Inland Eye is keeping the place clean for all patients. They are sanitizing everything. I was very disappointed with Inland Eye Specialists. My daughter lost the temple for her glasses in school. Because of this they would not honor the warranty and replace the glasses. It's unfortunate that due to a medical condition your forced to buy products to be able to see. All I wanted was a temple. The glasses were under warranty. The optician did not even offer other options but to spend almost $200-300 for another pair of glasses.instead I took the prescription to another vendor and for much less my daughter was able to get glasses. I have been a patient for almost 30 years and have had good service up until now. My appointment was rescheduled without my knowledge. I was not contacted of the change even though my records are up to date. After waiting 45 minutes after signing in, I was told my appointment had been rescheduled and my doctor wasn't even in today. My husband and I appeared at Inland Eye Specialists in Fallbrook for his first appointment on 4/9/18. We signed in, completed the required paperwork and provided our insurance information to the receptionist. We were told that there was a copayment required of $40.00 We have never had to pay a copayment anywhere before because my husband is insured with Medicare Part B and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. What Medicare does not cover BlueCross/Blue Shield pays. I told the receptionist that a copayment was never required anywhere before-that was when she said it was probably because the doctor was considered a "specialist". I paid her the $40.00 in cash and she printed out a receipt which she gave to me. My husband called BlueCross/Blue Shield and was advised that there should not have been any copay required. I don't think that Medicare was ever told about our office visit by this office. Did the $40.00 go into someone's pocket? We will not be returning to this office ever and will continue to pursue our investigation to find out why this happened and who was responsible. The people in charge of this office need to be made aware that they have someone working there who is cheating their patients. read more

I was referred to Dr. Tew because I have glaucoma. Over several months I was prescribed medicine that affected not only my eyes but I had muscle and joint pain in my legs and feet. I had difficulty walking or standing. He dismissed my complaints about the medication. While on a vacation in Europe I ran out of the medication. A week after stopping the drug I was able to walk and stand without pain. I went back to Dr. Tew and was prescribed more of the same medication. The symptoms returned and I was not pleased and decided to see another doctor. The new doctor discovered that my eye pressure was at a dangerous level, 44, when it should be in the teens. He immediately performed surgery to relieve the eye pressure because this pressure would lead to blindness. After research with the drug company by my new doctor it was found that some patients had the reaction of joint and muscle pain when using this medication. I never did get the care and treatment that I needed while I was a patient of Dr. Tew. read more
