Never called Insurance has not paid anything for 12/5 and 1/7 visits so when I showed up today they want me to pay full amount of bill. The front office staff told me when to make our next cleaning appt. for my husband and me. They scheduled the appointments too soon and our insurance did not cover it. They said it was our responsibility to know when to schedule our appointments so they insisted on payment. We have been going there for seven years and this was the first time that this has happened. When I asked to speak to Dr. Colby directly the staff said he would not call us back. They also attempted to charge us for services above the contracted amount with Delta Dental which is not allowed by the carrier. We just signed up here as a family of four and although my husband can't make any time yet the two kids and I got to meet and greet all of the staff and I was able to get in my cleaning while the two boys created chaos running around the office and reading books, coloring and playing with cars, which their location has to play with. I won't be giving a formal review until I've gone a couple times and I know the quality of their cleaning but the blonde lady who did my meaning was so sweet about my boys and helpful keeping them near me. Since my last crown was done when they got the machine that made them in house rather than sending to a lab things have gone downhill. Four specialists say it cannot be repaired because the repair surgery is too dangerous. The damage done is permanent and I've lost 3 teeth in the doing. I would stay clear. SHADY. PREDATORY. NO PRINCIPLES. I left my former dentists office because of predatory and shady practices. After my experience today, I'll be finding another practice. This place is predatory, and their billing lacks principle. Between my last appointment 6 months ago, and my appointment today, my employer changed from Delta to Cigna. I got a text this morning for an availability at 3:30, and provided the office with a copy of my new insurance information after asking if they work with Cigna. They said "yes, as long as it's Cigna PPO". When I arrived today, I confirmed that they had my updated insurance information. They called me back quickly. My dental hygienist was Angela, who was wonderful. This review has nothing to do with the cleaning. We started with X-rays, which I thought was odd because I did them 6 months back at my first visit. Angela then cleaned my teeth, and she was charming, professional, and conversant. The dentist popped in for a 5 minute consult midway through the cleaning, and tried to walk away before I could clarify what the numbers and acronyms he was saying to the hygienist meant. I got my answers. Angela finished up and told me that it was time for the fluoride rinse. I did that and she walked me up to the front desk. I was told by the front desk that my portion of the bill would likely be approximately $200 after they billed my insurance, which was a surprise as my cleaning bills have been between $10 - $20 for the past decade of dental work. I asked why it was so much, and they let me know I was out of network! Shame on me for not doing my personal due diligence and trusting another shady dental practice. I'll pay whatever my insurance doesn't cover once I get my EOB. But I think it's incredibly unethical for a business to mislead their patients. Of course they accept a PPO. In-network billing was implicit in those multiple interactions where I asked questions via text, phone call, and in person. And what do you know, the X-rays that are normally covered every six months are going to be billed at 70% coverage! And the $30 quarter ounce fluoride rinse that I didn't even think about when it was handed to me isn't covered at all! All that said, I hope this (small) community holds your business accountable for this unethical practice. Shame on the front desk attendants - Carla and Amy - for not doing the right think and letting me know that they'll accept Cigna PPO, but that they're not in-network. And for trying to pin the least of my concerns (the ridiculously overpriced $30 fluoride rinse) on Angela the hygienist. It's easy to blame someone else behind a closed door for your billing practices. The way the owners run their business isn't your fault, but failing to warn people that what is universally a less-than-30-dollar-service is going to be $200 should sit heavy on your conscience. I can afford it, but I'm fortunate in my career and finances. Others that aren't as financially stable can be rocked by a ten-fold increase, all just because you don't have the decency to give them a heads up. Obviously, I'm not going back. I wouldn't have because my insurance changed, and that should be okay. But your predatory, unethical practice and you telling me that I "at least need to pay the $30 for the fluoride rinse" gets me an unnecessary expense and you a critical review on every platform I can find. I hope it's worth it. I'm never coming back. My parents are never coming back. My four siblings and their families are never coming back. My friends are never coming back. Hope you enjoy a reputation as Fallbrook's premier shady dental office. Shame on you. read more

My family of 5 have been regular patients for 7 years. An ad was run on FB showing free dental for "First come, first served" with no other requirements on the ad. My wife has been needing a crown for over a year now (this dental office told her should could lose this tooth if not taken care of) that we have not had the money to pay the patient portion. She went and was first in line hoping to have this taken care of, but denied because they claimed this was only for those in need or in pain, despite the ad not stating this, and despite us saying we were in need even with our insurance. I feel like we've been lied to and betrayed, not doing business with them anymore, and don't recommend anyone do business with them. Additionally, I was told the owner would be informed after I told them to cancel all future family appointments, but never heard a peep after, they don't care obviously. read more

Easy appointment process, nice reminders by text, easy check-in, friendly people at the front desk, almost no wait (at least for the 4 times I've been there), good and friendly hygienists, and good, friendly dentists. Dr. Stephan Barrington is my new dentist and I am so grateful I found him and this office. He and his assistant took great care of me and never seemed rushed or distracted. They did deep cleaning with prescription mouth wash to help me get past pre gum disease, they have replaced 2 old amalgum fillings, they have done the 6 month cleanings. Then my husband went for a cleaning the other day along with both regular and yhe "panoramic" xrays. They charged him $350 and told him he needed an implant for ONE tooth that would cost $6,500. The staff completely changed between visits, and they try and scam you into paying full price because they don't charge your insurance before sending you a bill. It's been a while since I've been to a dentist; approximately 3 years. So I decided it's time to see what kind of damage I've done to myself. I did a quick search for dentists that take my insurance and one of them led me to this office building. Interestingly, the dentist I went to see had left that office to work at another place and I was then assigned to Dr. Colby. This was one of the best flukes that have happened to me in a long time! Firstly, the office space is located on one of Fallbrook's back roads, which is great due to lack of traffic. Although their parking lot may seem cramped, it has always been relatively empty and ice had ample space to park. Their office is pretty big and has a comfortable waiting area with music, reading materials and their staff are polite, friendly and talkative. Dr. Colby himself is a character and very charismatic; so were his assistants. We spoke for most of my visit and cracked jokes and life stories; really good people in that office. What really impressed me the most about this office and the staff is that there is a genuine care for their craft and all they do for you. They were always checking on my comfort level throughout the process and made me feel relaxed and assured that they had everything under control. Dr. Colby seemed like a perfectionist while working with me and he took extra care to make sure that everything came out juuuust right. Loved the work he did! I'd also like to mention that the equipment they use here is state-of-the-art and I loved how they had cameras to take photos of my teeth so I can see the "before" and "after" of the process. We have been patients at Fallbrook Village Dental for 20+ years. Sadly, it's not the business that Dr. Stewart's office used to be. Since he retired 4-5 years ago, we have seen a complete ongoing turnover of staff. Every time we visit, the previous dentist has left and a new one has emerged. Whereas Dr. Stewart was genuinely interested in his patients and their lives, these new dentists are clearly in it strictly for the money. They whiz in and out as if the patients are on conveyor belts in a factory. Last visit, another new dentist I'd never seen before spent most of his time trying to upsell Invis-a-line. Keep in mind, I've always been told by dentists that my teeth are so naturally straight! Now, I suddenly "need" this cosmetic device that's $3,000 and not covered by my insurance? Before I had time to say much, a lady appeared with a Treatment Plan. This had absolutely nothing to do with my visit. Minutes later, I heard the dentist giving the patient in the next cubicle the very same upsell speech! This NEVER happened in Dr. Stewart's office. Finally, the office staff is quick to tell you that you will be charged if you miss your appointment, even if it's the first time and due to an unforeseen emergency. Sadly, the human component we all used to love in this practice has retired right along with Dr. Stewart. read more

Every time I go in they try and upsell me on products I don't need (Invisalign at my age??!) I will miss my favorite hygienist, Emilee, but I will not go back to this dentist. read more

When she first received her bill they forgot to run her insurance. This is true stupidity. They ran her insurance gave her a total and she paid it off. Flash forward 3 months later and they tell her she has an overdue account. Same bill and they forgot to run her card. This place runs their business horrendously and is trying to cause overdue accounts by not even properly running credit cards. Had to go and get two crowns. i'm definitely not one who does reviews for everything that comes along but, just wanna share what a great experience and professionalism this office gave to me. Starts off with Brenna the RD very competent, professional, and very impressive on how she works and treats people that come through there. Then my procedure was done by the second part of the team Dr. Barrington. This doctor is a class act. Train through the Navy and very very confident in his work. It's also fantastic to be able to get your crown done while you wait. I give this office five stars and I highly recommend them to anyone that comes along. I've been with the same dental office for 15 years and was very disappointing I had to switch. But this office definitely was a very confident and friendly group to take over. Can you say MIRACLE WORKER!! Dr Colby just did some serious magic on some ancient fillings that were cracked and whipped up a crown in about 15 min for another tooth and Voila! I walk out 2 hrs later with fixed tooth, a shiny new porcelain crown, NO PAIN, and I went home and ate dinner and ICE CREAM! I still have some more work (years of neglect) but I am sooooo thankful for QUALITY work! I had seen a couple of poor dentists in Los Angeles (1 who ate his delivery food off the counter while he worked on my teeth) so i had been procrastinating on having another exam. Dental work causes me a lot of anxiety and Dr Colby is so chill and kind, I totally relaxed once we began all the work. I moved to Fallbrook from Coronado about 5 years ago and was referred to Dr. Stewart from a neighbor who had been coming to him for probably 15 years or more! His bedside manner is what you would want - he gets it, no frills, tell the truth, offer up realistic options, put the patient first and have an eye for aesthetics. He didn't try to push unnecessary or expensive procedures but at the same time is super knowledgeable about current dental trends, techniques and again, has the patient comfort and long term dental health in mind first, before making any diagnosis. Just recently, I had the chance to connect with Dr. Colby and I couldn't have been more pleased! Again, his bedside manner (so important for me) is wonderful. He explains the process, asks how I am throughout, calls the next day to check in on me! He is a great addition to the Fallbrook Village Dental team - and I would highly recommend him!
