The final straw that'll stop me from coming back was the tater tots. They've always been really good but this most recent trip were the plainest tater tots I've ever had. It seemed like they were air fried or something, completely flavorless and not a single gram of salt on them. This place has gone from awesome hangout, to "it's expensive, but the food is still solid" to "never again" prices and food quality.

When this cow wanders in, there might be stouts being slowly savored near the fireplace, humans discussing ancient literature, a family laughing over a half-finished pizza, or a nearby table deep into a heated game of Magic the Gathering with ESBs and cider in hoof. It's cozy, communal, and usually feels just right. One thing this cow respects -- the beer here is strong, and it's not brewed for the weak. There's nothing on tap that isn't unique or intentional. That said, this also means Bardic isn't for everyone. The average beer drinker looking for a simple, easy-drinking West Coast IPA that isn't pushing 9% ABV may leave unsatisfied, and that likely eliminates a large portion of beer drinkers in the area. For adventurous palates, though, this place is a treat. Lately, this cow has noticed the welcome hasn't been quite as warm as it used to be. The beer and food remain excellent, but the last few visits felt a bit less friendly. A smile or a greeting would go a long way in restoring the inviting feel this pasture is known for. The beer cheese on the smothered fries is the best beer cheese in the city. The Detroit style pizza has always been good here in the past when it was operated by Sauced i loved the white Iverson, the new dough and hand shredded block cheese is a noticeable upgrade with the new The Big Cheese that makes you appreciate the blessing of being able to eat and drink in an awesome place like this. It is inspiring to see breweries team up with other small business entrepreneurs and go for it with this kind of kitchen and banquet expansion. The staff on both the beer and the restaurant side are incredible and make me feel like a VIP every single time I am in. I am really looking forward to seeing the expansion get finished soon and if it's half as cool as the patio I may need to just move my office into the pinball pit.

I have had Big Barn Brewing a couple of different times now. The location where they are seems like…read morea fairly large facility in Mead which is north of Spokane. There are lots of signs where you can purchase and pick berries. At the brewery itself it lives up to it's namesake as the brewery is in a barn. One side of the brewery is a stage and a fair amount of outdoor seating while on the other side is a sizeable parking lot which is good as this brings in a lot of people it seems. The inside of the barn is nice and roomy like a lot of these barn breweries are and even though it was busy it was spacious where everyone had some space. But now onto the beer! The Black Dog Stout was one of the three beers we had. This was a good, solid stout. It had coffee elements and sweetness in the flavor profile. The beer was smooth and creamy which is how a good stout should be as well as the hue which is nice and dark. The following beer really put us in a quandary as to which of the remaining two would be our favorite. The Bailar Con Maiz was the next beer we had and we were just thrilled to have it. Of course I am very partial to Mexican Lagers this one was excellent and one of the best ones I had in recent memory. This beer is malty, corn flavor, smooth and light bodied. The final beer was also excellent and I think had a slight edge over the Mexican Lager as it was so different and good. The Mead Honey Lager was the next one and it was so good and so unique! It had that mead essence going on due to the honey. The beer is sweet if that isn't obvious because of the Honey but not too much and has a dry flavor features at play. Also this beer is smooth and light bodied. The three beers we had we really enjoyed and hope to try out more Big Barn beer options in the future!

The taproom is out in a residential and forested area which gives the taproom a great atmosphere and approach to it. Once you park your car you can walk up a briefly lengthend path to the taproom. If the weather is nice sitting outside enjoying your beer really comes full circle. Not that the inside of the taproom isn't pleasant. It's wooded look is very nice. The beer selection is pretty unique and I had to take a moment to ponder what I wanted. In the end I got the Jalapeño Saison. It isn't too spicy hot at all but has an excellent peppery taste to it and was really enjoyable to drink. I went here by myself but Steve and I are planning to pass through Spokane again later this summer and this will be an essential stop for us. In fact it could be a stop we make each and every time we are in Spokane because I enjoyed the brewery that much.
