This tattoo shop is THE BEST tattoo shop in Modesto, California. I found the shop after my tattoo artist, Scotty B., started tattooing there. He is an amazing artist and so are the rest of the artist there. The service there is awesome and they really make you feel welcome. Rob, the owner, is a super rad guy and an outstanding artist. He also has a great sense of humor! I highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for a high quality piece. No one does it like the tattoo artist at Inkwell Tattoo. Definitely a place I love to visit and get tattooed at. 10/10!

I had my first tattoo done at this shop by Scott Brewer. I'm not going to lie, I have been looking at the work of probably almost every tattoo artist locally in the area, for a very, very, long time. I creeped on his Instagram account for over a year before I sent him a message asking to book a tattoo. I explained to him I have a baby who has heart issues, so I was concerned about exposure of covid while in the shop. Not that I would ask everyone to wear a mask while I was there, but just because I wasn't sure how full the shop gets, as it is smaller (I also booked in December when covid numbers were pretty high). I was very grateful that he was willing to set time aside to come in when shop hours were closed, to do my tattoo. I was able to come in an hour before to put numbing cream on, which I feel helped as my tattoo took 4 hours to do. His station prep took about 40 minutes, which I appreciated, as it ensured he cared about how sterile his equipment was. My tattoo is beautiful. I have not had any line blowouts, and it has healed perfectly. I came in the next day after it was done for a wrap change, and when I took the 2nd wrap off 7 days later, my tattoo was virtually healed. He also responded pretty quickly about any questions I had regarding healing and after care, again, being my first tattoo, I didn't know what to expect. His line work is absolutely beautiful and I trust the longevity of his work over time is guaranteed. 10/10 recommend him as an artist.

I've seen other work of his and idk why I didn't receive the same quality of work as his other clients (Rob). The first photo is before and the second is after. I've seen his other coverups and lines look smooth . The way this healed is very scarred and lines are jagged it doesn't feel or look smooth. read more

Great experience. Clean and cool place. The artists are the cherry on the top. I was relaxed, had great conversation, and would definitely go back. Matt did a beautiful job on my cherry blossom wrap around. The finger tats are great too, it may not go with the theme but it was personal to me so I'm very happy. read more

BAD BUSINESS DON'T waste your time or money. This place is a Scam. Rob Mahurin is a Scam. I paid $ 100. deposit back in June directly to the owner Rob Mahurin for time in his chair. He was supposed to design a Symmetrical Birth Flowers Collage of my 5 children, for my upper back. I called 4 times in a 45 day period requesting the drawing. Finally, I receive this attached drawing. Not even close to what I asked for. When I contacted explained my frustration. Rob said he lost my information even though I called 5 different times after the initial visit asking for the drawing. He refuses to refund me back the $ 100. even though our agreement was $ 100. for time in his chair not this ridiculous drawing. Who in their right mind would tattoo something like this anywhere on their body? Be aware of this place they will rip you off. read more

I had a grand time getting tattooed at Inkwell Tattoo! Having stopped in for a Halloween Jammer Special, Rob was able to fit me in for a tattoo that same day. His shop is super clean and immaculate; the whole vibe of the shop is just really welcoming and rad and the playlist was rockin'! His work is just great--I got the raddest little kewpie nosferatu and I'm in love! Rob is really professional and welcoming and immediately puts you at ease; he also works quickly without sacrificing any quality. I'm really pleased with the level of service I received at Inkwell and I can't wait to get back for my next piece! read more

This is essentially my needle spa day spot from now on. The tattoo is beautiful, of course, but the atmosphere is what I really come for! ;) Rob did a great job on my blood rune and I'm super proud of it. Their shop is super clean and their vibe is the chillest. Plus who wouldn't be stoked for a dermal wrap? Tattoo washing and lubing is a thing of the past now. I'll be making this my official spot for my print-out tats and smaller custom jobs! Also, Rob was very informative and welcoming, not condescending at all considering what a doof came through the doors that day! ;D In all seriousness, you're gonna be so happy and safe here!! read more

Rob and his crew are extremely professional, the shop is extremely clean and well laid out. Rob went over my ideas for the tattoo with me and explained designs styles and layout for the size and area of the tattoo and came up with a beautiful design for me that fit the space perfectly. Rob is not only a tattooist but is an actual artist and his eye for detail and his line work is absolutly stunning in my honest opinion. As a female heading into the shop i did not feel intimidated at all which was important to me as some shops feel a bit sketch at times. Rob and his team are friendly , straightforward and awesome to be around. Inkwell is definently a shop I highly recommend and I have 100% trust in the artist and I honestly can recommend you check them out if you are in the market for high quality ink work in a relaxed setting with top quality art and a super clean shop. read more

I just want to thank Rob from La Familia Tattoo Kolectiv. The design he drew up for the tribute tattoo for the loss of my husband was absolutely beautiful and has meaning within the tattoo that make me love it even more. Rob has a very light hand that I appreciated so much. The shop is super clean. I got to watch him set everything up and take new equipment out of their sterile packaging. I had a horribly ugly tattoo on my neck that haunted me for years but I was to scared to cover it up because it hurt so bad to get it. I went to Jarod Silva and told him my concerns and he eliminated all of my fears. He assured me he would go easy and if it was to painful he would stop. He not only gave me an amazing cover up but it wasn't painful at all!!! He is an amazing artist and an amazing person. He made me feel so comfortable and we had great conversation the whole time.
