Updated review! Janel Luxx- Gypsy Jay on instagram, gave me a few decent tattoos and then scammed me! Asked for a $100 deposit through cashapp which was normal behavior for her. She then goes on to quit the born to lose shop and never provided a refund. I called this shop and all they said was "oh she doesn't work here anymore, that sucks dude" so lesson learned to always do walk ins and NEVER trust anyone with a deposit, even if you've had a tattoo done by them. Only use cash at sketchy shops like this one!!! This lady is currently posting that she tattoos out of anywhere between Stockton and San Diego!!!! Scamming people and stealing hard earned money pretending to work at different tattoo shops! Please beware!!! read more

Born To Lose Tattoos - Had this done on the 28th of July. Love it. Thanks Abe! - Tattoo Near Me - Modesto, California

This shop is amazing and Paco is an incredible artist. My mom and I came in to do a mother son matching piece and our experience with paco could not have been better. The atmosphere of this shop is as comfortable as it gets. For example while Paco was setting up his station the owner came in and was talking with us. We had no clue this guy was the shop owner until after he left. The guy was just super chill. Back to Paco. His work speaks for itself. The guy is an amazing artist and tattooer, but it's his personality that set our experience apart. He really took time to get to know us and made me feel as though our tattoo was the most important thing in the world to him. Without question I will be seeing Paco again, and this time I'm going to let his creativity fly because I know he will create a piece thats perfect for me. read more

Over the last year I've worked with the owner Tudi for my sleeve project. His communication, attention to detail, and customer service have made him amazing to work with. Throughout the year long project he took my ideas and incorporated them into my sleeve which resulted in a very cohesive and custom piece. Highly recommend this shop! read more

I had Jeremy do two tattoos on myself and my friend. My friends tattoos turned out fine. I had Jeremy tattoo something on my foot that turned out fine. I also had him tattoo a wing on my hand which turned out horrible. The lines are way to thick and the tattoo is way to dark. I can't stand the tattoo. I'm going to pay to get it removed. Which is going to cost me $1500-2000 and it's timely. Jeremy accommodated us by coming in on his day off and he discounted the price of my tattoos because it was my birthday. But I think he knew he messed up on the tattoo on my hand. I'm so disappointed and it's in a place where I can't hide the tattoo. I bought makeup to try and cover it up. I will never go to another tattoo artist that is not referred to me again. I felt rushed and even the way he placed the outline was sloppy. I should have known. It looks like he used a sharpie on my hand. read more

Abe has done a few tattoos on me and they have all been excellent. He has a great sense of style and has completely understood my vision for a couple of custom pieces. His line work is very exact and he has excellent fundamentals-his stuff is bold and bright, and will last forever. He did some traditional pieces (one was a re-work on a pretty poorly done tattoo from someone else awhile ago) along with a couple of out of the box ideas, so he's well-rounded. Not to mention, dude is funny as shit. Generally speaking, Born to Lose is a very well run shop. They have always kept appointments and been on time, which isn't always the case w the tattoo industry. Their prices are relatively low given the caliber of work they do. I highly recommend this shop for any ideas you have. They'll work with you and most importantly, they'll genuinely listen to what you want to do. read more

Did a walk in about two months ago for some tattoos on my fingers, some simple symbols. Abe was available so he did them. He broke skin on 4/5 fingers and so the healing took a little longer and the ink did not stick. It just scabbed up. So I went in for a touch up and after that session, he did not go deep enough in some sections so the ink did not stick again. Tried to go in for a second touch up but when I got there, he said I should wait a week for more skin to build up and come back. So we rescheduled, but he got the time wrong so when I showed up he wasn't there, with no notice. Left my name and number but never got a call. I called and rescheduled again and left my name and number again, but when I called to confirm when I was on my way, I was told over the phone by someone else that he wasn't there and isn't gonna be there, so I left my name and number again bc I never got a call for a cancellation. It's been a week now and I still haven't gotten a call to reschedule. I am coming from out of town so having to reschedule over and over and not getting any kind of communication is just bad service. He even told me he didn't want me to lose my faith in him but here we are after a series of unfortunate events. Huge waste of my time and money. read more

I've worked at this shop for 9 years now. The shop takes care of it's clients as well as those of us working there. A drama free environment is hard to find in a tattoo shop that's why I've stayed so long. I feel l like our prices are at least comparable to other shops and the work exceeds most shops for the price. I mean yeah, I work here so maybe I'm biased. But I wouldn't work here if it didn't meet my standards. Thanks for your support over the years everyone. And please feel free to call or text anytime. read more

It's hard for me to stick with a tattoo artist but not anymore! I've found my tattoo artist thanks to born to lose tattoos! Paco is amazing tattoo artist! I walked in on a Sunday afternoon with no intentions on getting a tattoo. I was just checking out the tattoo shops in the area. After talking to Paco I had made up my mind on setting up an appointment with him. He listened to my ideas and within the next two days he came up with an amazing stencil! The shop is a chill place makes you feel comfortable like you're at home! Paco is a real awesome dude and does amazing work! I will be back very soon! read more

You can definitely trust these guys to do a great job - especially Drew. Got my first tat (ON THE RIBS) and he made me feel so comfortable and easy. He took what I wanted and made it look hella bomb! Love that he has his own style and can incorporate that into any piece. My friend is collaborating with Paco for her back piece - another amazing artist. Great customer service, awesome work, clean shop. What else could you ask for??? Will be flying back to the area to get another one- i'm hooked. read more

I have been going to Buddha Tury for a few years now. I lost him for a bit (shop shuffle) and when I found out he opened a new shop I was stoked. I have been to a dozen or so shops and have been tattooed by various artists over the years. What makes me go back to Tury is that his shop is really clean and he is super friendly. I have been to numerous dirty shops and walk out - I want a tattoo not an infection...Also his friendliness is A+... The shop plays a lot of 80s music - so get your dream tattoo and listen to Madonna! I will be going back as soon as I get free time. read more

I went to Earl Nixon for a piece on the backside of my forearm. Let me start off by saying WOW. He drew out my idea way better than I pictured it. As soon as he showed me the sketch, my jaw dropped. He took his time to redraw it backwards to see which way would look better (most other tattoo artists don't give a f*ck). I made my appointment about a month before because he was booked, but it was way worth it. Super cool dude with awesome talent. The shop is super clean, and welcoming. I will definitely be going back to him for my next piece and will recommend him to any family/friends looking to get tatted. Thanks Earl! read more

I reached out for an appointment l was contacted within a reasonable amount of time. (Other shops never did contact me back) l sent the image was able to book a time. In fact Tudy was so nice to meet me earlier due to a dental appt l had right after. When l arrive he was ready for me...made me feel welcomed he got started i have serveal tattoos and l have never had none of them done so gently that there is NO SCABBING!! Im very impressed and will be going back for future art work. Oh and the cost of it was very very reasonable. read more

Was none to pleased with the way I was treated last month. I brought in a tattoo that I had found in pintrist that had a lot of repins or I know it was good art and not just what I thought was good. After looking at it perplexed the artist tried talking me into something else even though I made it clear that it was exactly what I had wanted. I'll take my $80 elsewhere. Service could defiantly use some work. I know it's not a huge tattoo like most tattoo people have but it's what I wanted. :( read more

Always a pleasant experience here, very clean , and always great music ! I have personally seen Drew and Earl both always clean their stations and make sure everything is prepped for the clients appropriately . Also anyone who walks in is quickly welcomed upon waking in! Earl Nixon does my tattoos and I have NEVER been unhappy !! Prices are perfectly priced ! Do not come in askin for "deals " or "cheap " work. These guys are worth every penny you spend . Trust me a CHEAP TATTOO is NOT a GOOD TATTOO... I have experienced BAD tattoo work in the past and you will NOT receive that here . read more

I got my first tattoo here and I don't think I could've made a better choice. I had a lot of questions and was very nervous but Drew and the rest of the staff were friendly and made me feel comfortable. Drew came up with a design even better than what I had in mind and paid amazing attention to the details. He spent hours on my tattoo making sure it's what I wanted as painless as possible. For tattoos, this place does the best job. Clean, friendly, and most of all amazing artistry. read more

100% honestly, Earl is the best by far. No question. I've had tattoos from many other shops and over the years have been dissappointed with their quality. I heard all the hype about Earl being the "Van Gough" of our generation and I finally went to see him. I cant think of one single bad thing to say. 110% satisfied. Dedicated customer for life. In short, if you're looking to find that one artist that can make your dreams and ideas a reality, you found him here. Nuff Said. read more

I was thoroughly pleased with my experience here. Earl Nixon is an artist who is also an awesome creator. He listened to what I wanted, drew it out and created precisely what I had envisioned. I had waited many years to get my tattoo done, and I am insanely thrilled that I did so. I wanted to find someone who I could trust, and I found that in Earl. Major thumbs up. The shop is clean, the guys are friendly, the atmosphere is good and the music is amazing (mostly 80's like stated before). Going back for much much more. read more

Looks like they do decent tattoos but every time I work up the courage to get one, they're either closed or lacking in customer service. Sure I'm not the most knowledgable when it comes to tattoos but you shouldn't make your customers feel like jackasses when asking simple questions :( will never go back. I've heard better things from other shops and I will not recommend my friends here. Why are they #1 on my search? Smh read more

Literally a goddamn shitshow!!! do not come here if you expect orderly business and good time management skills. if you're looking for a place full of incompetence, negligence, and flat out stupidity, come on down! spent a good third of my friday the 13th here, only to leave twice (first time we waited an hour. second time we came back was almost two) and come back and spend the next 4 hours here to get simple line work done. literally any person that entered the shop after was next in line for their tattoo!! if you have people write their names down in an ordered list to keep things smooth, USE THE LIST. from 9pm to 4am i spent time here until i was THE LAST PERSON to get work done. we wrote our names down twice, called in, and we still spent 6 GODDAMN hours in this shithole. honestly do not understand how anyone here is still successfully employed at this point, considering everyone is a blithering, moronic idiot! next time i'd rather carve a tattoo on my skin with a knife than spend another second in this barren abyss of straight up hopelessness and foolishness. everyone here is a f*cking idiot and they are well aware of it. would rather spend 6.5 hours in purgatory slowly roasting my own skin on a wooden spit over a blazing flame than ever do anything remotely similar to this experience again read more
