I went with my boyfriend to get his helix pierced. We just walked in and we got it done in about 10 minutes. They were very nice and gave us a piece of paper about proper ways on how to clean it. His piercing looks good and has not got infected! I do recommend piercings here! read more

Mike Bruce is a talented artist and did an amazing job on two of my tattoos and one on my sister. They were on our necks which can be a very challenging piece to pull off but his experience and wisdom definitely showed as he nailed them with no problem. My husband had a horrible experience here.. "I went Here on the Anniversary of my brothers death after one year. I arrived at 12:05 and was second on the waiting list for Mike Bruce. I wait 4 hours before he comes to say he can not draw up what I want. This was the only thing I wanted to do to remember my brother and this "professional" could not draw or even look at a tattoo after 4 hours. Worst service of my life and made a bad day worse. I previously visited a different place and got a piercing there and my experience was not good at all. After a day with my new piercing I decided to go get a second opinion and make sure everything looked alright. I stumbled upon Inksmith & Rogers and decided to go there. Everything you could want in a tattoo parlor, that is what Inksmith is. From the many talented tattoo artists at this location to Jenny who does the piercings, everyone is friendly and professional. Now, you still have to remember where you are. This is a tattoo parlor. This is not a church group. There is flash covering the walls, much of which has images that some may be offended by. There is all sorts of music playing to help the artists do their best work, but it may not be your taste. Tattoo shops have long been known as seedy places with seedy people doing seedy things. Inksmith has cleaned up this image a lot, but it still exists on some extent because that is the nature and inherent value of a tattoo shop. As soon as you walk in, you hear the comfortable buzz of tattoo machines, and are greeted by Kristin the shop manager. If you have an appointment with a specific artist, she will take you to their area and prep you for your sitting. If you are just walking in, there is usually someone available or only a short wait until you are seen. I was there to see Scott, who sits all the way in the back. This shop does a nice mix of private and public by having half doors that separate the artists. This allows for some of the cross-talk and hanging out that goes on in a shop, but also allows for privacy depending on what you are getting done and in which location on your body. Scott is very good at what he does, and is down to do just about any image you want. The pricing is good for what you get, and Scott is pretty quick which means you can get a lot done in a fairly short time period. If you are into the tattoo scene, this is a great environment for a mix of high quality, well-priced work. The artists are good, the pricing is right, and the shop is a great location and atmosphere. read more

When I called for an appointment, I was told that for what I was looking for, I could just walk in and be fine, and Tuesday was recommended as a usually slow day. I showed up and explained what I wanted. Mike did some internet research with me for authenticity, suggested a great addition, then drew up the artwork. When it came to the work itself, he had a noticeably light hand, which is impressive given the bright colors and bold lines of the piece. I got my second ink done here last summer and I was very pleased with the whole experience. The artists were an eclectic but fun bunch. They sat down and worked out my custom design with me. The location was very clean and well kept. While waiting for my artist to finish sketching there were tons of pictures to look at, history of the shop to read up on, and books to go through to pass the time. While he was working on me, which took 4 hours by the way, he didn't mind stopping occasionally to let me take a smoke break. The end result was great. I was given plenty of information about it's care afterwards. I absolutely plan on getting more work done by these guys, and I recommend that anyone considering getting a tattoo check this place out. read more

If you go, make sure to see Kenny Rice or Mike. The two guys when I first walked in were clearly judging me and my tattoo choice. They tried to tell me it was too small, it would fade, I wouldn't be able to see it in 5 years, I had to layer it on top of each other, not put it in one line (it is a tattoo of words on my hip). I'm thinking ...this isn't my 1st tattoo, and I have lived in Los Angeles for 22 years and been tattooed by some of the best and if you're telling me it's going to fade in 5 years and be unreadable or I can't do the font that small...then YOU'RE doing something wrong. I went to Kenny and he did an incredible free-hand tattoo. He was patient, polite and his overall demeanor was just really cool. Totally great vibe AND he didn't over charge which I completely appreciated. The only thing weird is you pay in advance and leave a tip in advance. That, to me, was just a little presumptuous...but maybe next time I will just bring cash and that will eliminate the awkwardness of all that. I got my very first tattoo with these guys when they were on Atlantic and intercomstall water way...the only shop they had open at the time...I got a butterfly tat...I'm 53 now I got it when I was just barley 18...the tattoo still looks good but the color is slowly fading ...I'd like to get it recolored...don't know if u guys do that. ...I think it was the female that done my tatoo.....because of where I wanted it ....above my right breast I was told that when I had kids that tatoo would drop ... no it didnt..and i think back then i paid lIke 55 .00 to hAve it done.....excellent condition still.....thanks. read more

About a year ago now I walked into the Atlantic Blvd Inksmith and Rogers location with no prior tattoo knowledge and a picture I wanted tattooed on my chest. This was my first experience with a tattoo shop and I was a little nervous, I didn't know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into the shop. I was immediately greeted by a friendly staff and an immaculately clean shop. An artist was assigned to do my tattoo and I waited nervously as he redrew the image I gave him. When it was time, we went back into his room and began the tattoo process. My artist did a great job of making it a fun and relaxed experience, and when it was all said and done I was beyond satisfied. I left, not scared of tattoo culture but excited about it. I had what I now know is a really well executed tattoo, and a new appreciation for the effort that goes into making good tattoos. That was a year ago. Since then I've been back at the shop getting tattooed almost monthly. Having been tattooed by other people at other shops I can honestly say I think this is the best shop in Jacksonville and maybe even further. read more

rude. pretentious. obnoxious. the list goes on . . . the first tattoo i ever got was tiny and undetailed & from inksmith of orange park. the guys in the orange park location were great. nice. etc. therefore -- i think the shops all vary by location. my husband & i have been trying to look into tattooes for a while. i want a 3/4 sleeve & he wasnt a 3/4 sleeve and rib piece. hes already almost done with his arm and its amazing. (ps. inksmith didnt do it.) when we were looking around at artists -- i already had someone in mind, but i figured -- hey why not give some other people a chance to show us what theyre offering?! we went into the atlantic inksmith and showed them what we were interested in. my husband wanted something by the works of dan mumford. very detailed -- doesnt look like a typical tattoo & i was looking for something by audrey kawasaki. again -- not a typical tattoo. they immediately turn us away saying "it doesnt look like a tattoo -- we cant do it." they were rude & short with us. sad that theyre not talented enough to do a tattoo that doesnt fall under the typical 'tattoo standard.' needless to say -- we found a muuuch better tattoo shop in riverside to do our work with much more talented artists who know what theyre doing. read more

For christmas my little sister said she wanted for us to get tattoos so I said sure why not. We researched a few places and decided on Inksmith & Rogers. Chris was our tattoo artist and humored me the entire time. It was my sisters first tattoo but they managed to get through it together. The minimum here is $50, the facility is clean, all the equipment was properly sterilized, the employees are talented and there was a constant flow of customers which speaks volumes for their business. Everyone at this shop is extremely skilled and dedicated to helping you get what you want tattooed. I've had most of my tattoos and piercings done at this shop and I wouldn't go anywhere else. Super chill dudes. The shop is clean and well kept. If you're not sure exactly what you want they have TONS of flash and books that you can refer to. Like I said, they'll work with you the best they can to give you an amazing tattoo. Received my first tattoo here. Chest piece covering my entire right breast. For reference I'm 6'1 260, so it's a good size piece. Jeremy Swed is the man. I came in late December to tell him what I wanted. It was a generic military tattoo. After talking to me for a bit, he convinced me to get something that not only signifies what I did, but meant something to me. I did just that and came in the first week of Feb with an idea and let him do his thing. He brought all of my ideas into a beautiful drawing and I instantly loved it. He got to work on it immediately. I could tell he was taking breaks in the beginning to make sure I was comfortable. Being my first tattoo, I didn't realize that you were supposed to eat before hand Within the first 15 minutes I started to get very lightheaded and almost passed out. Jeremy went into his breakroom and got me some coffee cake and water and waited 15 minutes for me to get some color back to my face. The rest of the tattoo was very smooth and comfortable until the last 30 minutes (4.5 hour tattoo) it started to pretty painful at that point. Jeremy was good about taking short breaks while still doing an incredible job. The piece is beautiful and is healing wonderfully. If you're looking for an artist who isn't afraid to move away from stencils and truly enjoys their work, you should go to this shop and ask for Jeremy. read more

I got my first tattoo done at inksmith in orange park a few years ago, the artists didn't want to do my basic tattoo. They all contemplated on whether or not to do it, then a guy wanted to do it. After I got home, I realized the tattoo was done so horribly, every line was different. After a few phone calls I was told the GUY WAS A TATTOO APPRENTICE! I had no idea and he wasn't even supervised all the other artists left the shop to go smoke pot. I just cant believe this happened. (I have a picture of the guy doing my tattoo and Inksmith didn't even offer to fix my ink if anyone is interested in seeing this, please send me a message.) The ONLY reason I'm giving this place even two stars is bc my tattoo is actually great, I love it. I got some text on my wrist. However, I think his name was Mike? Oh my gosh that guy needs a nap & a lesson in chivalry. He told me my tattoo was going to be "upside down" so it'd be $10 extra. Fine whatever it's only ten bucks he's the artist, it's cool. The experience just goes down hill after this. I had just sprained my ankle about an hour before. As I was hopping into the room where he was waiting for me I fell very hard right in front of him. I was literally writhing in pain. After I regained my composure, as I got up & looked at him and he didn't budge. Didn't try and help me up, didn't ask if I was okay, didn't even pretend to look concerned. He was just looking at me as if to say, "Any day now lady". He told me that ten years ago when people wd get script on their arms or wrists they'd position them in a way where others cd read them. However my best friend & I were positioning them to where we could read them. He said we were prob reading a People magazine and stole the idea from some reality star. Really dude?? Like who urinated in your corn flakes this morning? He then freaked out at one of our friend's for bringing me a chair to sit in since there was now a baseball sized lump on the side of my foot. He said he was rearranging all of "HIS" furniture w/o asking. In actuality I feel like this should have been Mike's idea in the first place. It's called CUSTOMER SERVICE homey! I was the customer in his place of work. This guy has serious anger issues. But I was not about to bring that up as he was inking my best friend & I for life. So we just sucked it up & sat there in awkward silence. This guy is for sure artistically talented however he needs to figure out a way to deal w/ his anger problemos before getting near sharp objects. I'd never go back there ever ever again. read more
