I went in to see if I needed a piercing to be downsized. I fully explained what I needed and which piercing it was to the front desk when booking my appointment. When I saw the piercer, he did not check the piercing and completely took out the wrong piercing that was still fresh and healing. I explained to him that was the incorrect piercing and he shoved it back in the hole. He thought we were doing a jewelry change for a different piercing, rather than a downsize for a piercing I came in for. I was in so much unnecessary pain and now I have to worry about swelling and infection for the piercing he removed and shoved in. I ended the season and left the shop. There seems to be a lack of communication and clarity between all staff and clients. I'm in pain, no service was done, and there seemed to be a lack of empathy or responsibility for performing an incorrect service. Let me start the review by saying that the piercer twist who did my daughters earrings was great. And the place smelled very clean. But know that it is a place close to the beach, so they make their money on tourism. There are better places for locals like me in the future. Their prices for jewelry are ridiculous. Paying for not only the front and back of the earring is insane as well as it's 26.99 per earring for the cheapest pair. As well at $15 for each back. Who ask for $30 for the back of earrings. They also DO NOT include an after care kit which is standard when you're paying $150 for an ear piercing. I was recommended here by a very close friend so I took her word, and I'm glad I did. I had watched millions of videos, read facts about getting my septum pierced and totally psyched myself out about it. But, the anxiety didn't hit until I pulled up to the shop and walked through the door. I immediately became clammy, hands sweating and nervous as ever! But, when I called and talked to my piercer on the phone I liked our vibe so I came. CODY SHORES is nice and you can tell he knows what he's doing. He said the initial clamps would be the part that hurt the most, but for me it was putting the ring in. He was gentle with me, and very understanding. Jarvis did a tattoo for me about a week or so ago and he was excellent. He made sure the font and lettering style and spacing for the quote that I got tattooed was exactly how I wanted it, and was available for questions beforehand by text and scheduled the appt time for me to come in. We started right on time and he was ready to go with the stencil before I got there. I am 10 out of 10 happy with the tattoo and the whole process. I have been coming here for about 16 years. I got my first piercing done here around that time as well. It wasn't the best piercing but the experience was worth it. Fast forward 16 years later and I get three in one day. I am over the moon happy with them. My piercer Amanda was amazing. She took her time sanitizing the area and my jewelry as well as getting me pumped for my rather painful choice of areas to pierce. Amanda gave me all the proper aftercare instructions and some helpful tips for the healing process. I am over the moon in love my piercings. Also I must note that all of the staff that was there were so kind and not pushy at all. Went into the shop to get a helix piercing. It's been probably over 10 years since I had anything pierced so I'm sure there are policies and laws in place now regarding cleanliness, etc. but I was pleasantly surprised by the whole process. Neither one of the two people I encountered were super bubbly people but they did an excellent job. Marin was super knowledgeable about all the products and piercings and didn't push anything on me including the saline used as after care for piercings. She educated me and let me make my own decisions, which I appreciated. Cody did my piercing and before we even began he asked me how do you care for a piercing afterwards. After a few piercings and being a nurse, I didn't think this was necessary but I was wrong. He simply stated why Including scientific facts and he was absolutely right. He wasn't all that friendly during the process but had a good technique and it looks great. And he was appreciative of my tip and that's always a plus! I was so impressed with the staff here! My daughter finally decided that she wanted to get her ears pierced. The front desk person explained everything I needed to have for her, and was patient with my daughter picking out her earrings. Then I was really blown away by the piercer! This review is taking the place of a 1-star review that had been here, a review entirely based on the actions of my former tattoo artist, who now no longer is employed here. Greg, the owner of Carribbean Connection, reached out to me a few weeks back, wanting to give me a heartfelt apology and to see what he could do to make things right. This place has been running for over 27 years, and has always been devoted to making sure their clients aren't just satisfied, that they are over the moon and loving it. I went in today to check things out, after not having been there since the incident with that former employee. It felt like I walked into a room of friends I hadn't seen in a while. I was immediately greeted, and it felt so good to come back. I then got to talk with Greg and Shavon, and it was obvious how much they love what they do, and love the business and those who they serve. Well lit,friendly staff. I was happier with the old location (right next door) w/2 floors and a pipe shop. Tattoo and piercing in a clean calm atmosphere where privacy is givin'. It WAS a great place to find hard to find shoes and clothing but NOW it switched to more less T-shirts and crocs shoes. More -less trendy stickers and T's. Awesome selection of body jewelery and good tattoo artist from local areas. Cool hammocks and swing chairs in the summer time on the outside deck ,on display, you can chill in (test out). Get concert tickets there as well. Not bad -- I DO STILL miss the old C.C. but times change and no more "glass back room" or hard to find clothing. I have gotten pierced there 2xs and had friends get tattoos and piercings there as well. CLEAN and professional. A-OK place been around for a long time. I'll be honest and say that CC isn't really my style. I generally go because they have a ticketmaster outlet. When I have gone in to buy though I've found their selection and prices to be excellent. By far the best thing about this place though is their people. Seriously some of the coolest people you'll ever meet. When I've been looking for sunglasses or shoes (only 2 things I've ever bought here other than tickets), they really seemed to have a good eye for what looked good and were very polite and helpful. As I said, I usually come for event tickets because it seems you have a better shot getting good seats here than by going online. They don't open until 10, but when the employees find you waiting outside the door early, they open quickly to let you in a few minutes before tickets go on sale so they have the best shot at getting you great seats. My husband and I met our 18 year old daughter there to get her a tattoo. We had agreed with her that her tattoo would be about 2 inches by 3 inches and she had sketched that before hand. When we arrived we had to wait a half an hour for Nolan to "draw" (trace) what my daughter had already made. When he finally came out with the design, he had made it about 9 x 4 inches! I said it was too large and that she had told you that she wanted it to be about 3 inches long. He said he was an artist and he would not do that size because it would look like crap in 10 years. He said the only way it would look good was in the size he had made it. He also said she could not put it where she wanted to, on her hip, because it was an awkward spot. Then we I tried to reason with him, because we have been through the tattoo process ourselves, he said that I was extremely rude!!! I could not believe the audacity of this guy!!! He tried to scam my sweet, naive daughter into spending 3 times what she had planned to, getting a tattoo 3 times the size she had planned, and putting it on HER body where HE wanted to put it! Then he insulted me so rudely that we walked out. Do NOT ever go here. Nolan is a horrible person and a nasty manipulator who tries to scam young females and rip them off. We went down the street and our daughter got exactly what she wanted, where she wanted, with wonderful, positive, supportive staff. Her tattoo looks beautiful! read more

I arrive to get a second ear piercing on my right ear. I like the way the outside of the building looks, the picture here doesn't do it justice, and the staff is not just young, but older, too, all respectful even if my hair is not so great today. Older, I thought that I would be out of place after reading these yelp reviews that got me here, but I want to visit this spot because of Ticketmaster, so I know where to go in the future. I'd say that I look 35 on my best days, according to my daughter. Today I look older, even a little bit frumpy after a long drive. Irregardless, everyone acts nice, even the youngest rocker, and I want to buy clothes there and get a nose piercing, but I just get my ears pierced for a reasonable price by an older gay guy. I learn what he knows about the pop art scene in Jacksonville Beach, and I find that interesting. I don't usually, anymore, sit around with rock musicians, so I like his stories. He relates unique art scene experiences that make the time pass quickly. He also gives me a nice list of celebrities that live in the area and other interesting facts. Meanwhile, is very professional about his work--the pain, minimal and brief, nothing like my first bloody ear piercing experience at a doctor's office when I was a teen. My budget is slim with Christmas gifts bought, but the price is reasonable with just $10 more for two, rather than one ear piercing, so I get the second done and now have four ear piercings. I leave 10 minutes later with no complaints, problems, blood. Dropping in anytime is not a problem. About 8 other customers are there when I'm leaving and about five were there when I arrived. read more

I went to CC to get an estimate for having a half sleeve or 3/4 sleeve done. I went in and presented a basic idea to Jarvis and he seemed to understand what I wanted. We started a short time later and even though I gave him a general idea of what I wanted, he seemed to grasp my idea very well. We started with one lower arm section, waited a few weeks for healing and then went to stage 2, then 3, and are continuing. I have had tattoos done at multiple shops over the years, and this has been the first time that I felt comfortable with what I was getting compared to what I wanted. He has been nothing but professional and always confirms the idea before he starts to ensure nothing has changed. I did not fully understand the amount of work, time, and money that goes into something this big, but with his help, I have actually been looking forward to spending more money on my sleeve. Everywhere I go i receive compliments ( like I did much at all) and people engage in conversation around it. The girl who was working followed us through the whole store, I guess she thought I was going to steal. She made my daughter & I very uncomfortable standing over our shoulder. I'll preface this with Caribbean Connection is not normally my style. However, I asked my tattoo artist who she knows that would do the specific piercing I was looking at. She told me Cody Shores. I went in, talked to Cody. I was a nervous wreck. I had thought about this piercing for many many months and I had ALOT of questions. He was super super gentle, very concerned after the fact, and had no problem answering all of my questions. He has the patience of a saint. I got my piercing last Thursday (3/5/15) and I've called him seven times since then, and been in the store twice so he can look at it and tell me I'm delusional and that its not rejecting. And every time I call or go in, he's very reassuring, and sweet. Turns out he used to pierce at the shop I used to go to for tattoos, (he even tried to fix my jacked up nose piercing once) I don't pierce often, but I'm so glad I found Cody to do my future piercings, should the occasion arise! read more

On any given trip to C.C. you could leave with a pair of Vans, a new bauble for your belly ring, some incense, sleep shorts, and tickets to an upcoming concert. A lot of their gear is your typical, over-priced surf swag, but they offset this by sprinkling in more reasonably priced items and brands. As a noted jewelry addict, I found their selection of charms and dangles to be quite diverse for a surf/skate shop. The staff is friendly and conversational, and they seem genuinely interested in informing customers about their merchandise and any deals going on. The last time I stopped in, Aaron helped me out, and he was just a straight-up awesome guy. It makes a shopping experience so enjoyable when you feel truly welcomed and engaged by the staff. I want to say that I loved it here, but unfortunately that was not my experience. I got my nose done here and the process was easy the first time. I had no problems with the piercing at all! But then the stuff came unscrewed two weeks later and fell out in my sleep. I had to go get it put back in and the process was so painful that I almost fainted/threw up. They wouldn't let me drive for a little after because I was so dizzy. Then it fell out two more times after that. On the third time I went somewhere else to get it put back in and they were astonished that Caribbean had used the screw in stud. They said that is not the kind you should ever use for the first time piercing. I got the hook stud put in after that. But unfortunately due to the trauma the piercing experienced I had a keloid that had grown and now 8 months and two bottles of saline solutions later I finally took the ring out for good. It bled too often with the keloid constantly becoming inflamed. I saw a doctor and a dermatologist and they said it was due to how much trauma the piercing underwent the first couple of months. And every professional I have spoken with has said that the piercing they used was the wrong one and it should never be used as a starter piercing. I'm truly sad that I had this experience and wish nothing but the best for every one else that goes there!! read more
