Fat Kat Tattoo and Body Piercing did a great job doing my upper and lower helix piercings. The prices were reasonable, and the place was very professional. I even came back to have them switch my jewelry out. They have the best of Jacksonville awards from 2020 to 2024 on the wall which made me feel confident in getting my piercings. I would definitely recommend anyone that is considering getting a piercing to come here. The only con I may have to ask is they did take some time to do my friend's jewelry change the last time I visited. read more

I came to Fat Kat Tattoo for my third tattoo, and it was hands down the best experience I've had yet! I already knew exactly what I wanted, so I brought a mockup with me to my consultation. Kaitlyn was incredibly kind, patient, and collaborative--she worked with me to fine-tune the design until it was perfect. My previous tattoos were all done by men, and this time I really wanted to work with a female artist. Kaitlyn exceeded my expectations. She's a true artist with a steady hand and a thoughtful approach. The studio itself is in a great location with plenty of parking, and the entire staff was welcoming and friendly. I've been here a few times for my piercings. I got my nose, tongue, and septum done here. My septum was done wrong. It was the most painful piercing I've ever experienced. However that's not why I'm writing this review. Today I came in wanting a fairly simple tattoo. I lost someone dear to me and one of our favorite songs was called "w.a.y.s.". I asked for the letters to be put on my finger, stretching across so that it took up the entirety of my small pointer finger. As soon as I showed the man what I wanted, there was pushback. He chose a font for me and basically told me that was all I could do. I asked if he could create a stencil for me to try a different location on my body, he said no because he can't print stencils without knowing for sure where I'm putting it. I said "that's ok I'll just get it on my finger then". He prints out a stencil that was too small and only fit on the last small space of my finger. Ok. Miscommunication that's fine. I expressed how I wanted it to start at a certain spot and end at a certain spot. The letters needed to be spaced out. That was literally it. He genuinely made it seem like it was the biggest challenge to do this for me. He proceeded to print out more stencils without even showing me let alone talk to me first. So once again, the stencil he printed wasn't right. This time too big. I laughed and tried to stay friendly explaining that it was ALMOST perfect. This is going to be on my body forever and yes I am very picky when it comes to these things. As EVERYONE should be. He remained cold to me. I felt like I was such an annoyance to him. I got a bit emotional and started crying because I was so overwhelmed with the loss of my friend but also just the blatant rudeness I was receiving at the time too. His third and final stencil was this one. At quick glance, I was like "omg it's perfect!" but then I started looking more. It's obviously wonky. The letters are not spaced correctly. The "Y" is so clearly out of space that it doesn't even look connected to the word. I think what really disturbed me was that he was so okay with tattooing this on my body. Instead of taking the extra time, printing more stencils, communicating exactly what I wanted... he took the easiest route and would've let me walk away with a finger tattoo that looks like my artist hated me. He literally said "well that's the spacing you wanted" and "sorry" sarcastically. I just silently nodded and walked to the front debating if I should even get a piercing at this point. I walked to the front and asked a girl if she thought the tattoo looked off. She said that it looked ridiculous. Confirming my feelings, I decided I did not want to do any business here again. All this to say, it cost you nothing to be kind. You are tattoo artists, putting permanent art on peoples bodies. Not everyone here is like this at all. I've never had an encounter like this here. But this man wasted my night as I got there at 8. I could've went anywhere else that would've taken the time to help me but I chose to go to somewhere I know to help me remember my friend. Do better. I have no idea what his name is. He is spanish with a beard and an eyebrow piercing. Please work on how you treat others. You have no idea what they're going through. Thank you. read more

I received a flash design from Kaylie last year. She claimed that it was her own original artwork, when it was not. The design was from Minari tattoo, a tattoo artist that does not have a large following in the United States and is not a native English speaker. Each of Minari's tattoos are unique, commissioned work of people's pets. I think that pulling ideas and styles from different artists is a good thing. I think asking other artists if you can use their work is a good thing. I think that copying another artist's commissioned, unique artwork without their permission is a really crappy thing to do, and it leaves me disappointed. read more

Today i was looking at my arm thinking "i could use some more ink". But where would I go so last minute? I remembered my good friend has a beautiful tattoo from Fat Kat so I was thinking i could try and walk in with no appointment. I expected a two hour wait or so but they told me to some right in. I hopped in the car and 10 minutes later Laura was asking me what size and placement i'd like for my tattoo. She was eager to start working and her passion shines through every step of the way! My wife and I came here a week or so ago. I called in for my wife on a Saturday to get her a daith piercing. The staff was nice enough and we decided to come in. My wife enjoyed her visit and liked the all-woman staff. The big negative is the location and the crazy folks outside. Not really the fault of the staff but not the best spot if you have to wait outside. read more

I was in Jacksonville for Spring break (I'm from San Diego) and was looking for a new tattoo to add to my arm. I hadn't gotten flash tattoos before so I was thinking of giving it a try. I called Fat Kat first to discuss it and they immediately suggested Kaylie for flash tattoos. I scheduled an appointment for consultation and I was able to meet Kaylie then and I saw all her designs that I could choose from for a flash tatt. I scheduled my appointment for the tattoo for that same week and I ended up choosing this chubby pigeon but she has so many other really beautiful designs with varying styles! She was also really sweet and easygoing which made the experience even more pleasant. I had some particular requests that she was happy to do, such as the shading, and a minor correction on one of my old tattoos that hadn't healed properly. Overall a really fun experience and I love my cute little chubby pigeon! Will definitely go back next time I'm in Jacksonville. read more

Great place! First off, you must make an appointment for any service. I only needed to wait one day for the time I wanted to get a piercing. Secondly, when you arrive you have to ring the doorbell and someone will check your ID to see you have an appointment before you can go inside. third, they take your temp upon coming inside. Lastly, everything is sanitized very well and frequently. It was very clean inside and I appreciated that. I got a conch piercing from Misty who was really nice, I've had other piercings before (body and ears) but this for some reason was initially more painful than any other. Misty said I looked pale so she gave me water and a sucker which was just a really sweet touch. She informed me of after care, gave me an after care card which has a lot of instructions on it. With piercings, after care directions do not change much. read more

I went in a little over a week ago to get my septum done with Misty. There are a couple steps here before getting pierced. First, I made an appointment (I believe they also accept walk-ins). Then, once I arrived I had to ring the doorbell and Misty greeted me and my friend kindly, and took my ID. We had to wait outside and were provided with shade and seats. She then returned with a form and my ID. Once I completed the form, she brought me inside (my friend had to wait outside because they are not allowing guests who are not getting pierced). The inside was very neat and clean. We went to a room, and Misty showed me where I could put my bag and then had me lay down on the seat. She first explained aftercare and made sure I understood. I was a bit nervous since I was alone, but Misty was very sweet and calm, which helped a lot. The piercing was quick and I was checking out in less than 15 min after arriving. It has been a very short amount of time but so far, the healing is going great and I love how it looks. I am definitely going to return and book with Misty for my future piercings once my current ones heal. read more

I got my tongue pierced twice at this place and NEVER AGAIN. The first time i continuously told her it was crooked and she said it was because i couldn't keep my tongue still and i insisted she did the dots again and she continued saying it was my fault that it will come out fine and comes to find out like i said it was still crooked. So i called and she told me to come back in a week and that it needs to heal so i did so and came back and again i told her the dots looked crooked and she continued to pierce me. And they are still crooked!! If as a customer i am telling you i dont like the placement... then change it, now i dont even want to go back because it hurts to keep getting pierced 2 times in a matter of a week in the same spot. Im just going to go somewhere else and say forget it because i could tell it was no getting through to her she continued to tell me.. i hope its straight if not just come back next week.... Terrible. They don't care what you actually want they just try to talk you into getting what they know how to tattoo. They don't seem very experienced. Came in asking for a shark. Was told it's impossible in that place. Then tried to convince me to get an anchor tattoo. Wtf? Btw went to inksmith & Rogers and they told me the shark would be no problem at all and were actually excited to do it. Sorry but I'm not gonna let a stranger tell me what to tattoo on my body. The fact that you even tried shoes that you're not an artist. I'll chose my own tattoos thanks. read more

Raphael was the best tattoo artist I have ever been to, I have 9 tattoos and the two he did today are the happiest I have been after walking out of a shop. I spent almost 7 hours in the shop and the environment was amazing, every person in the shop was so friendly. You can tell that Raphael puts his all into his tattoos, he checked every time he completed a section to make sure it was perfect which I appreciate so much, he cares about how well your tattoo looks just as much as you do! Felt like tagging alone while a friend got some ink. She's turning 30 and having a mid life crisis and just needed to get a butterfly tattoo (lots or sarcasm but she really got that tattoo). Walking in I hear some screaming?! I was ready to turn and leave - but later learned someone was getting her spine tatted and they were doing shading. Not sure why they didn't just gag her and keep it moving? Friend walked in with the thought of butterfly tat, but after some input from artist she was able to customize it to a very unique tat that she's just overcome with happiness about...(I thought it was a pretty butterfly - but still a butterfly). And since there was time - my other friend decided to get another piercing. She'll probably be back for more durma? (under the skin piercings). I'll be back to watch that one too. (None for me.) My friend and I went in to get our belly buttons pierced. We were greeted promptly & the shop looked clean. We were quickly serviced (10-15 minutes for both of us together) and prices were decent. Only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars is that we weren't given any aftercare instructions (thank goodness we both have had prior piercings), and we weren't given a choice of jewelry. My piercing is now healed and happy though! Had to update & lower the rating a star because I called in to get another piercing and the lady on the phone said come on in, by the time I got there (10 minutes later) she told me there was no time for me to be serviced. I asked to make an appointment for the next day and she told me to do it myself online. I already went through the hassle of coming to the shop after I was told I'd be serviced & then told no after. The least she could have done was make me an appointment for the next day (I'm an understanding person when it comes to these things). I decided to leave and go somewhere else that accommodated me better. read more

Went and got tattooed by Kaitlin. It was my first tattoo and a little one, was told I sat great and did very good. My tattoo came out crooked and I pointed this out and immediately she switched up saying I was moving. She never once mentioned this and said she was "surprised" she even did it that good. Unprofessional and definitely do not recommend going there for something that will be on your body the rest of your life. What a shame.
