2008-2011 Watching a young friend of the family starting his journey of receiving his body art after graduating (I had none on my upper body at 48 and been dreaming/desiring a look since five years old) the artist had a recognizable style like nothing I had seen!! Hearing the friend tell me of his experience with the man who was doing the work I had questioned him on sanitation as well which was what up to state board procedures, made my appointment with Josh for my first piece (below). He had working out of his apartment on the dining area. It was impeccably clean. Table, chair, work bench were covered, the living room kitchen, you could see that it had been maintained, no build up, clutter and it was comfortable and welcoming. We sat down with a photograph of my kitty as well as him pulling up on his laptop a picture of "Toothless" from the animated movie "How to train your Dragon" Which was the exact personality of my fully grown 7 pound cat which was groomed regularly in a lion's cut. Only difference besides one being a cat & other a dragon were the eye colors. Josh had heard what I had in mind to mix the tattoo to be half dragon and half cat. In no time he was drawing out what I had in mind. He is so encouraging and receptive with suggestions. Change this? What about that in no time he had drawn my vision and here we go!! Lifting the cover off his products, he began prepping the arm as well as systematically keeping the entire work area clean at all times. In under an hour I had exactly what was on the original sketch using only black ink with the exception of her yellow eyes and pink tongue always peeking out of her mouth as if she was taunting whom ever she was observing. Josh knew his business! I could not have been more pleased not only with the end results but, with the speed, accuracy and minimal pain that I felt for a short time frame with the size that covered my entire shoulder. He was a great conversationalist and we just clicked! Such a nice young man! Polite, funny, smart and talented! I kept coming back with my ideas and he would always Hear what I wanted then bring it to life! I wanted an end product that didn't look like random work but, fluid design that was meant to be one piece/scheme after all I had waited nearly 50 years for this! Both arms, back and back of neck. The last few times he had opened his shop which is what he dreamed of! Just a few years after my "portrait " my familia passed away. A day doesn't pass without my seeing her, remembering the great times, conversations, memories with Josh:) He definitely goes the extra step for his clients!! SO I got my FIRST tattoo by Josh and it was nothing but a chilll, good time. He made me feel SUPER comfortable which helped my situation 200% cause I was so nervous. The guys were nice enough, and I didn't get the creepy vibe when I was in there, but the amount of naked ladies on their social media accounts and elsewhere leaves me not wanting to go back. I took my kid to get her ears pierced. The guy was fast and experienced. Tattoo parlors are not for kids, duh, but if I had seen what I saw as their branding before walking in, I would have gone somewhere else, not just for my daughters sake. Thought about getting a tattoo while I was in there, but in checking out their pages later, I think it's not the place for me to get anything tattooed except traditional boobs or tattoos by my boobs, which they will then post, accentuating my boobs. Good for them for getting to see boobs and stuff at work. They got my business (this one time) through google maps, so their location is...something. read more

Back in December of 2015 I went to Josh Akers to rework a tattoo I had gotten almost an entire year before hand. It was a small dagger in my finger and upon having it done the first time (by another artist) the ink completely fell out within about a week. I knew it was common for hand/finger tattoos to fade quickly but for the entire tattoo to fall out in a matter of days was insane. Since talking to a couple other artists in the area, it's believed the initial artist that did my dagger was using expired ink- go figure. Not only did my tattoo look patchy and faded like an old temporary tattoo, it was crooked too and just overall rushed looking. After talking to Josh he assured me he'd be able to fix it up and promised greater longevity of the ink. After Josh put his touch on it and turned it into a whole new tattoo I felt a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. I no longer had a new tattoo that looked ten years old! While I was in he also quickly touched up the lettering on my pinky too. My whole experience with Josh was much better than the first time I had my fingers done. He didn't rush and really made the effort to make sure that this time around, I'd love my tattoo and be happy to have it in such a visible area. Josh has only fixed up this one tattoo for me and it's been over a year since then, but I can confidently say I'd definitely go back to him again for some of his original work. To this day I still get compliments and people thinking it's a fresh tattoo because of how well he revamped this thing. I've thanked him a thousand times but I really don't think I could ever thank him enough. ****photos attached The first is before the ink completely fell out of the original tattoo, the second is in the process of being fixed, and third was after- I couldn't find a good photo of after as I don't take many pictures of my hands but as you can see the lines are way cleaner and much bolder. Everything you would want and expect from a tattoo shop, the artists are great creatively and really good to work with, the place is clean, they take that seriously, and you get a movie to watch witch is a nice distraction while getting tattooed. My last 5 tattoos have been from Josh Hall, been going to him since before he had his own shop and I come up from San Jose. He is a straight forward guy and he is a good artist, the only one I have found who I trust to get tattoos from. He also I good coverup artist, I have had him fix a couple I got when I was 18 and not thinking past basic designs, he was able to turn them into something that I'm stoked to show off. For my taste and style he always comes up with a design that I like. I usually only have this rough idea of what I want and he turns my brief idea into an awesome work of art, his free hand is also really good! I'll be sticking with this place for ink and recommend them to anyone who is looking for a place to go. read more

So I've only had my nose pierced here, no tattoos, but Josh was great. He actually pierced it twice because the first time I pulled it out in the shower and then had to wait 2 days to put it back.
