My sister and I came here for dinner…read more We ordered the Ceviche Peruano and chips with avocado en rajas. We also ordered Tacu Tacu A Lo Pobre to share and three of their desserts. Ube Churros, Peruvian Choco bar, Hokkaido Melon Cheesecake. The tacu tacu was really amazing and cooked to my taste, medium. The ceviche had a bit of a kick to it but super tasty and it's great to share. Of the three desserts, I really liked the choco bar and the melon cheesecake. The choco bar would be great to someone who really likes dense and strong flavors. The cheesecake would be great to someone who prefers light and softer flavors. The churros was alright, I would skip this next time. This differently a place to have a fancy night out. It feels like you need to have a dress code but they're relaxed bout it. The room decoration is amazing. The table and chairs were stable and clean. They also have a purse pole. There is free parking out front and on the street.

The servers are very friendly and are patient to explain the menu to those who have not tried Venezuelan food before. Arepas are similar to gorditas (not exactly, the are lighter and crispier). The empanadas are yellow corn and lovely. The hallacas are traditional Christmas food in Venezuela, something like a tamal veracruzana. This truck is a great addition to the McAllen food truck park as pretty much everything else is tacos this provides a variety and international flair. Come try it!

First time visiting this location…read more First off, this is a small hole-in-the-wall joint, perfect for a visit by Guy Fieri. It was very busy on Sunday but we only had to wait ten minutes to be seated. There was lots of staff, busy bussing tables, taking orders, checking the buffet (more on that later), etc. Their menu is mostly typical Mexican fare, breakfast, lunch and dinner items, so not unexpected with a name like Taco Olé right? The wife chose the Three Chalupa meal which came with rice and beans. Evidently Chalupa means something different than what we expected. What she got was what we refer to as "tostadas" with cheese, beans, lettuce, tomato and jalapeño slices. According to the waitress the distinction lies in what type of cheese is used - shredded vs sheeted sauce and possible whether the tortilla is corn or flour. I'm not sure. Anyway, the wife LOVED them. Particularly after I told her about the different salsas, chopped fresh jalapeños and chopped cilantro that was available at the aforementioned buffet. THEN she was ecstatic! I chose to try their buffet. While it was on the smallish size, the quality of the offerings was outstanding. Their rice and beans were very flavorful to start with. I also had a couple of chicken taquitos with the customary green avocado sauce served on them. There were sone enchiladas, which I didn't try, some chicken in molé, and a couple of items I couldn't identify. There must've been a soup or two as well. I did try a French toast/bread pudding type dish that was very good. Kinda an offset to the savory things I did eat. I also tried a few of the sausage rounds that were grilled. They were ok but I can make that at home so I wasn't wowed. Now..... what I DID find that I can't or haven't made at home was THE BEST Carnitas I've possibly ever eaten! Anywhere! Wow, just so amazingly succulent, tender, flavorful.... I'm running out of adjectives, Lol. I told my wife that they were "little mouth orgasms"!!! I'd go back just for the carnitas. They were that good. Oh, and they serve them with what seem to be house made, fresh corn tortillas too! We definitely will be going back here in the next two months we're in The Valley. No doubt about it!

I have visited El Salvador in Central America and loved the pupusas, so I was happy to discover…read morePupusas To Go right here in the RGV. The building, located on "I" Road (Veterans Blvd), in between Eldora Rd and Sioux Rd in Pharr is not large, but hard to miss with the bright yellow color. There is private parking in front. Once inside you find a clean, pristine dining room in the colors of the Salvadoran flag, white and blue. You can order at the counter if ordering take out, or sit at a table for dine in and the lady will take your order there. Their menu offers more than pupusas. They also have tamales, empanadas, plantains, breakfasts with eggs, and more. But I wanted to try their pupusas, and two were big enough to make a meal for me. If you are really hungry you may be able to eat three. The pupusas came hot to order (you choose the filling you want), and were delicious. They are freshly made from scratch, so it may take a few minutes, but is worth the wait. The pupusas come with a side bowl of "curtido" (slightly pickled cabbage slaw) which you put on top. They also brought out a very mild tomato salsa and some green hot salsa. I loved all of it. The prices are very reasonable. The staff was very friendly, courteous and efficient. This restaurant is family friendly. There was a TV playing a telenovela, but not too loud. Because seating is limited, I would not recommend dining in for large groups, but their take out would certainly be a unique and delicious option for large groups. I would like to return to try some other fillings and entrees. I enjoyed it and think you will too!
